Room 113 November Newsletter Upcoming school-wide events: -- November 4 th : 3 rd grade play -- November 9 th : Start of canned food drive -- November 17 th : End of canned food drive -- November 22 nd : Thanksgiving Dear parents, November is going to be a big month in Room 113! The third grade play is on November 4 th at 2 pm in the school auditorium. Parents and siblings are encouraged to come and support our amazing actors and actresses! The play is Elementary School Musical! The kids are all really excited to share their hard work with their friends and family, so please come. There will be refreshments afterwards in the lobby. We are about to begin our unit on Ancient Greece. In the next couple of weeks, ask your students what they have learned, especially about Greek government and its influence on the U.S. government. After our two weeks on Ancient Greece, we will be turning to a science unit on simple machines. Just as a heads up, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, they will need to bring in an example of a simple or compound machine that they use on a regular basis. Don’t forget that the day before Thanksgiving is an early release day, and we’ll be done at 1pm. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! I think you’ll really like this one! Blue group: Knights of the Kitchen Table by Jon Scieszka is definitely a book you will enjoy! All these books are available in our school library, in the local public library, or on amazon.com or any bookstore. Superstar student of the month: HANNAH JOHNSON All of the students of Room 113 are talented and unique, but this month we would like to honor Hannah Johnson for her work on the third grade play. Hannah has been working over-time as the student director, helping Mrs. Alcott, the music teacher, in the planning and choreography of the play. Well done, Hannah!
