William Dumas
September 18, 1932 to September 20, 2017
The Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association
is mourning the loss of William (Bill) Dumas.
He was a leader, a mentor and a friend to so
many people in the sport of dogs. Bill was
always smiling. Whether he was teaching a
stewarding class or working on a committee,
Bill was generous with his sound advice and
always had a word of encouragement.
Bill joined VCDFA in 1977. He and
Shirley bred Pekingese under the
Du-ma prefix. Bill served the club in
every office including President and
countless committees including Show
Chair for several years.
Most recently, Bill chaired the club’s
AKC Disaster Relief Trailer committee
which obtained two trailers for Ventu-
ra County Animal Services. One trail-
er is at the shelter in Camarillo and
one in the shelter in Simi Valley. Work
was just beginning on fund raising for
a third trailer.
Continued . . .
Page 7 Tattle Tails
Bill was re-elected for another three year term as our Delegate to the American
Kennel Club, a position he held for over twenty years.
He was dearly loved and is sorely missed.
Bill is survived by his wife Shirley, their three
children, seven grandchildren and twelve great
grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, October 21st at the
CBC Chapel, Port Hueneme.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Disaster
Emergency Trailer Relief Fund would be appre-
ciated. Please send to VCDFA Disaster Relief
