“My son David and I enjoy frequent outings to the Friends Book Shop. David loves finding new treasures – and at the book shop he knows I will never tell him, “It’s too expensive.” We both enjoy the selection of books, which is constantly updated. We also look forward to chatting with the volunteer shopkeeper, who mans the shop when we visit on Thursday evenings. David was thrilled when she brought in her pictures of capybaras from her trip to the Peruvian Amazon, just for him to see.”

-Holly Weisenbeck

Finding treasures... and service with a smile.

Full of fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, movies and more, the Friends Book Shop is a great place to browse for inexpensive gifts for friends and relatives of all ages.

A local mom found a set of five hardcover Junie B. Jones, First Grader chapter books in great condition for $8. The books are read daily by an eager first-grade reader atThoroughgood Elementary.

Looking for copies of Disney movies that are in the dratted “Disney Vault”? A six-year-old girl in Virginia Beach lives happily ever after since her mother found VHS copies of Snow White and Beauty and the Beast at the Friends Book Shop for $1 each.

What will YOU find when you visit theFriends Book Shop?
