A HUGE THANK YOU to all the kind-hearted members of our wonderful community who came
out to support the annual Stuff the Cruiser event held in Kal Tire’s Parking lot on December
13th, 2014!
Our sincere appreciation also goes to Ian and Cathy Harry of Kal Tire who generously hosted
the event once again and welcomed everyone with a delicious pancake breakfast.
We are also very grateful to our RCMP for their wonderful efforts. Constables Steve Mclean and
Francois Lewis were kept very busy “stuffing the cruiser!”
Because of everyone’s kindness and generosity, our food bank received 959 pounds of food
and $2304.05 in cash donations. Thank you a l l so much for your suppor t !
“I want to thank everyone who volunteered and/or contributed to the Food Bank
this past year. Our FIRST independent year as the Boston Bar/North Bend Food
Bank was a HUGE success and without EVERYONE’S help, we could never have
pulled it off! “

Stuf f the Cruiser Update:
Boston Bar was again one of the top communities in the Fraser Valley Regional District when it came to the total money and food donations for the Food Bank. With Steve, Francois and others from the community leading the charge, “Stuff the Cruiser” event was a huge success. For a small community, Boston Bar had outdone itself, yet again. Well done Everyone!
Provinc ia l Winter Counter At tack Campaign Update :
As you may have seen, Steve, Francois and I were out in full force ensuring that the roads, through our community, were safe for all motorists during the holidays. With our two day road check, we are happy to announce that we did not come across anyone from our community that was driving while impaired by either alcohol or drugs. We did, however, in partnership with Fra-ser Valley Traffic Services, manage to stay busy. Between Boston Bar RCMP and the Fraser Valley Traffic Services, here are some of the things that kept us occupied throughout the two nights:
Seizure of marijuana
Seizure of drug paraphernalia
Seizure of almost 1 kg of cocaine
Seizure of over 50 lbs of marijuana shake
Seizure of illegal marijuana growing equipment
2 - 3 Day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for Alcohol
1 – 24 Hour Suspension for Drugs
One person was served with a notice of driving prohibition

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
WE ARE PREPARING FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF SERVICE WITH THE SHUTTLE BUS TAKING
MANY OF YOU TO DO ERRANDS IN HOPE AND/OR CHILLIWACK. I WAS PLEASED TO SEE
SUCH A GREAT TURN-OUT TO SENIOR’S CHRISTMAS DINNER.
THERE ARE SOME SPECIAL THANK YOU’S I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE. FIRST I MUST GIVE
LLOYD FORMAN CREDIT FOR JUMPING IN TO PROVIDE A MUCH NEEDED SERVICE. HE PUR-
CHASED THE BUS FROM HIS OWN MONEY AND BARELY BREAKS EVEN TO COVER THE EX-
PENSE OF GAS, REPAIRS, ETC. I ALSO WANT TO SINCERELY THANK NANCY CARMICHAEL
AND LORI WALTERS WHO SERVE AS MY ADVISORY COUNCIL.
I ALSO WANT TO THANK MANY OF YOU FOR REGISTERING WITH THE PROGRAM.
STATISTICS = FUNDING. SO IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED WITH THE PROGRAM, PLEASE
TAKE THE TIME TO FILL OUT THE FORM THAT IS AVAILAB LE AT CANYON LANES.
OUR FUNDING HAS BEEN REDUCED THIS YEAR, CAUSING US TO CANCEL SOME OF THE BUS
RUNS. ONE OF THE REASONS FOR THE FUNDING CUT IS BECAUSE WE DON’T FILL THE BUS
SEATS.
SO, THIS WINTER WHEN YOU DON’T WANT TO SUBJECT YOUR VEHICLE TO THE HARSH
WEATHER AND ROCK CHIPS, THINK ABOUT TAKING THE BUS.
I HAVE SOME RESOURCE MARTERIAL THAT MAY INTEREST YOU. PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE
AND I WILL SEE IF I HAVE WHAT YOU NEED.
I WISH YOU A YEAR OF GOOD HEALTH, PROSPERITY AND THE LOVE OF FAMILY. SO GO AND
MAKE SOME GOOD MEMORIES. ~ Patricia Davison

Linda Carmen, our Cops for Cancer organizer, has shared a letter she received from
the Canadian Cancer Society to thank our community for its support...
On behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society, I would like to offer our thanks for your support of
Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley 2014.
The Tour Team of 22 law enforcement and emergency services personnel rode over 850km,
making over 130 stops on route in 9 days. These stops included visits to schools, businesses
and community partners—putting us on track to raise over $360,000.
Cops for Cancer funds are directed to pediatric cancer research and Camp Goodtimes. This
past year Camp Goodtimes welcomed 377 participants to camp, including 166 kids currently on
a cancer journey, along with their siblings and parents, and other cancer survivors. Today the
overall survival rate for children is 82%, and with many new advancements in research, we are
coming closer to eradicating cancer forever.
Cops for Cancer provides an opportunity to show children and families that their communities
are here to support their cancer journey. In the words of one mother whose seven year old
daughter is now several months cancer-free: “What we get from the Cops for Cancer is some-
thing that you just can’t buy. It is a feeling. It’s a recharging of the batteries. Through the dedi-
cation of the riders and the support of all the community, it recharged me. It helped rebuild the
unwavering belief that my daughter will go on because there are people out there who believe,
who fight, who push themselves to go on and give wholeheartedly to a cause, a belief, to a
cure.”
Thank you again for your support and we hope that you will continue to support us in the years
to come. It takes a community to make a difference and your involvement is making a differ-
ence in the lives of children living with cancer.
Sincerely,
Janis Mitchell Community Giving Coordinator
