As you know we were gifted the premises by the Shire. The Centre has now be- come Incorporated and is only waiting on the titles to become available to us. Cystic Fibrosis Great Escape Car Rally visits Quambatook The Cystic Fibrosis car rally will be in Quambatook on Tuesday September 14thas part of a 10 day jouney. In Australia every four days a child is born with Cystic Fibrosis. Every baby is screened at birth for Cystic Fibrosis, as over a million Australians are carriers of the gene. Funds raised by The Great Escape will be directed to research projects, including the Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry and support services for children and young adults liv- ing with Cystic Fibrosis. Update News on

Quambatook

Historical Centre A meeting was held on the 26th August with a good number in attendance. As you know we were gifted the premises by the Shire. The Centre has now be-come Incorporated and is only waiting on the titles to become available to us.

The Centre has had a great amount of interest with regard to John Williamson. There has been a Northern Times arti-cle, some Weekly Times photos of John Williamson memorabilia and an interview (still to be published). There has been interviews on ABC Horsham and Mildura. John Williamson has read reports in papers sent to him by his old Nanny!! and is more than willing to help.

The theme of the meeting was "Where do we go from here?". Plans to revamp the building making it suitable for a His-torical Centre were discussed and all-present were asked for an input.

At present the plans look good and the Committee is keen to make a start. As this venture is a community project, anyone out there who has any ideas, skills, thoughts, or time on your hands, please contact the Committee - they will be more than pleased to listen.

On Tuesday 31st August, the Final Draw for the “Shop Locally Campaign” was held at the Quambatook Hotel. Local business leaders joined with local citizens to celebrate the end of the Campaign. Katrina Thorne, Gannawarra Shire Economic Development Assistant, who had worked with the committee, was also welcomed. Katrina confirmed the Shire’s commitment to small towns and was pleased to see the success of the Campaign measured by the great number of tickets that each repre

sented $20.00 spent in Quambatook. Guests enjoyed a Counter Tea before the draw for the monthly Hamper, which was won by Shirley Robb. Finally the draw for the Major prize, A Night for Two at Crown Promenade,

Valet Parking, Breakfast and movie

tickets, was drawn by our guest Katrina. The Prize went to Tom Stanger. Congratu-lations!!!! Carmel Pay concluded the evening by speaking on behalf of the business owners. She congratulated Amity on the “Shop Locally Campaign” and highlighted the need for all to support each other in the town.
