PAIR Administration Overview PAIRAdministrationisanewsetoffunctionalityavailableinPrivatePAIRtoallowuserstoself‐administeranumberofroutineadministrativetasksthatpreviouslyrequiredthesubmissionofaformthatthenrequiredmanualprocessing.WiththenewPAIRAdministrationfunctions,requestswillbeprocessedimmediately.ThisdocumentwillprovideguidanceonhowtoupdatetheCorrespondenceAddressand/orMaintenanceFeeAddressofuptotwenty(20)applicationsthroughPrivatePAIR.
Steps to Update an Application’s Address Thefollowingstepswillshowyouhowtoupdatethecorrespondenceand/ormaintenancefeeaddressofanapplication.
Note:Atthistime,UpdateApplicationAddressisonlyavailabletoregisteredpractitioners.IndependentInventorswillnotseethisoptionlistedunderthePAIRAdministrationmenu.
Note:RequeststoupdatetheaddressinPCTinternationalapplications(PCT/US),Reexaminationproceedings(90or95seriescases)orSupplementalExaminationproceedings(96seriescases)cannotbeacceptedatthistime.
PAIR Main Search Screen
1. FromthePrivatePAIRSelectNewCasepage,expandthe“PAIRAdministration”menu
2. Select“UpdateApplicationAddress”andthenContinue
Update Application Address Onthe“UpdateApplicationAddress”screen,userswillhavetheabilitytoupdatetheCorrespondenceAddressand/orMaintenanceFeeAddressoftheenteredApplicationNumberand/orPatentNumber.
1. EnterthecustomernumbertowhichtheApplicationNumber(s)and/orPatentNumber(s)willbeassociated.

2. ListtheApplicationNumber(s)and/orPatentNumber(s)andthenselecttheCorrespondence
Addressand/orMaintenanceFeecheckboxforassociatingtheenteredcustomernumberwiththelistedApplicationand/orPatentNumber(s).Upto20ApplicationNumber(s)and/orPatentNumber(s)canbelistedbyaddingadditionalrows.
3. TheuserwillthenchecktheboxtocertifytheyaretheAttorneyorAgentofRecord
4. Completetherequiredsignatoryandpointofcontactinformationa. S‐Signatureb. Namec. RegistrationNumber(onlyapplicabletoregisteredpractitioners)

5. Oncetheformiscomplete,youcanPreviewyourrequestforsubmission,Savetherequestforlatersubmission,orReturntotheMainPrivatePAIRBrowser.
a. Uponsavingrequest,therequestwillbeavailableforsevencalendardaysonthemainPAIRscreenunderPAIRAdministrationandViewSavedandCompletedRequests.Iftherequestisnotsubmittedwithinsevencalendardays,therequestwillbedeleted.

b. UponselectingPreview,thesystemwillchecktoensureallrequiredfieldshavebeencompletedandtheattorneywhosignedtherequesthasPowerofAttorneyfortheApplicationNumber(s)and/orPatentNumber(s).IfrequireddataisomittedorPOAhasnotbeenestablished,anerrormessagewillbedisplayedinformingtheuserwhatinformationismissing.Theusermustcorrectallvalidationerrorsinordertosubmittherequest.
c. UponselectingReturntotheMainPrivatePAIRbrowser,theUpdateAddresswindowwillcloseandtheuserwillreturntoPrivatePAIR.Pleasenotethatallunsaveddatawillbelost.
6. OnthePreviewscreen,youwillbegiventhechancetoreviewalldataentered,returntothedataentrypagetoedityourrequest,orsubmittherequesttotheUSPTO.
7. Oncetherequestisprocessed,theuserwillbepresentedwithaconfirmationscreenthatwillcontainthelistofApplicationNumber(s)and/orPatentNumber(s)thatarenowassociatedwiththeenteredcustomernumber.

8. ArecordofthechangerequestwillbeenteredintotheIFWandincaseswherethecorrespondenceaddresshasbeenchanged,anentrywillbeaddedtothefile’sTransactionHistory.
