In-Home Resources and Activities
Looking for ways to beat being stuck at home and change up
the learning routine. Check out this website: https://
www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/4h-at-home-learning-
resources. They are adding things on an almost daily basis.
There are many challenges that are either daily or weekly. I
would like to challenge you all to do something out of your
comfort zone and you haven’t done before while you are
home and do 1-2 art hall projects in this time you have! I
would love to see 1 art hall project from every 4-H member
this year in the art hall!
REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION PRACTICES
As part of its duties under the Americans with Disabilities
Amendments Act of 2008 (“ADAAA”) and the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach
will provide reasonable accommodations to its “policies,
practices, or procedures” when the accommodations are
necessary to provide equal access to programming to par-
ticipants with a qualifying disability. It will also provide auxil-
iary aids and services when they are necessary to provide
equal access.
The process has the following five stages: (1) completion of
the Reasonable Accommodation Request and Healthcare
Provider Disability Documentation forms, (2) participants
and parents are sent an agenda for the eligibility team meet-
ing, (3) the eligibility meeting is conducted, (4) a determina-
tion letter is sent to participants, and (5) possible reassess-
ment for future events.
To access forms or learn more visit the
Iowa State University Diversity and Civil Rights website
From the Desk of the CYC: It’s June, days are getting
hotter and longer. Time to start planning projects for
fair. Our quarantine is a great time to work on static
projects. Check out our updated events for the next 2
months, as they may have been cancelled or held anoth-
er way. We hope you are working on different activities.
If you are a Clover Kid don’t forget to check out your
section for updates and information. Don’t forget to
recruit for 4-H!! Keep it up Lee County 4-H!! As always
don’t forget if you have any questions or concerns, I will
be here if anyone needs anything in this unprecedented
time. Feel free to contact me. ~Breana
Art Hall/Static Judging Information
Due to the uncertain times and restrictions placed on us this
year we are changing the Art Hall judging set up to keep every-
one safe. We will be doing State Fair Style judging this year.
You will call the Extension Office to set up a time to drop off
your project on Wednesday July 1st and Thursday July 2nd
between 8AM and 4:30PM. Horticulture projects (plants, veg-
gies will need to be dropped off on Tuesday, July 7th by 8AM.
You will be allowed 5 projects to drop off for judging, so pick
your best 5 projects. When you drop off you will need to have
everything tagged and labeled with name, class number and
class name and if more than 1 item in your project it will need
to be kept together with string. Your goal sheet will need to be
included and completed for your project to stay, if your goal
sheet is not completed at the time you bring it in you will have
to take it home. We are only allowing one person to bring in
projects and check them in at a time. Art Hall Judging will be
completed on Tuesday, July 7th starting at 8 AM. We ask that
you put a number that you can be reached at from 8 AM on
Tuesday, July 7th through about 4:30PM for judges to call for
clarifications on things as they are judging. At the time you
drop off your project we will also have you set up a day/time
for pick up. No times will be available during livestock shows.
All projects are to be picked up once judging is done and taken
home, this includes State Fair chosen projects. No food pro-
jects allowed for judging this year. Those classes are 10440-
Food and Nutrition-Prepared Product, and 10442-Food and
Nutrition-preserved products. State Fair projects will still be
selected. -Class 10490-$10 Meal Challenge is a new class and
will be available for exhibitors without using real food projects.
Use pictures and serving sizes. Check out this class on the Iowa
4-H Food & Nutrition and Health project pages at
www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/. Any projects made for this
year’s fair that you do not bring for judging will be able to
come to next year’s fair.
Communications and Fashion Judging Information
All Communications and Fashion events will be held via ZOOM
with the judges. You will be sent a schedule with your ZOOM
time. Please plan on getting on your ZOOM time just a minute
or 2 before your scheduled time. $15 challenge, Clothing Selec-
tion, Fashion Revue, Educational Presentations and Extempo-
raneous Speaking will be set up on Wednesday, June 17th from
12PM-4PM. Share-the-Fun and Working Exhibits will be set up
on afternoon of Friday, July 10th from 2-4PM but is subject to
change via the judge. State Fair Exhibits will still be chosen.
If you have any questions please contact us at 319-835-5116.

Fair Activities
Clover Kids will ONLY be able to show 2 Art Hall projects
this year at the fair. You will need to call the Extension
Office at 319-835-5116 to sign up for a time to ZOOM with
our Clover Kids judge. Time slots will be around 15
minutes unless there are more siblings your time slot will
be longer. You will still need to have your project(s) ready
and with you on the meeting as well as your goal sheet(s).
Times to sign up will be 8AM until approximately 12PM on
Tuesday, July 7th. All other shows for clover kids will not
happen!!
Shaving Cream Rain Clouds:
Fill your glass or jar 3/4 of the way full with water. Add shaving cream to the top. This is our fluffy cloud.
Mix a little blue food coloring with some water. Again, this is option, but it makes the rain much easier to see.
Have your child add drops of the blue water to the cloud. As the water gets heavier and heavier it will start to fall out of the cloud and make rain!
This is what happens with real clouds. The water droplets get heavier and heavier until they fall down as rain. Fun fact: The average cumulus cloud weighs 1.1 million pounds!)
Clover Kids
Cancelled Events:
The following Clover Kids activities/events
have been cancelled for the 2020 Lee County
Fair.
1. Clover Kids Small Pets Show
2. Clover Kids Stuffed Animal Show
3. Clover Kids Fashion Project.
Due to the certain situation with COVID-19
these clover kids events have been cancelled.
We know that this is not the news everyone
wants to hear, but the safety and health of our
4-H family is our top priority. Keep working
hard and we will see you next year!

2020 Lee County 4-H/FFA Junior Show
Alright, Lee County Exhibitors and Families here is the updated
2020 Lee County 4-H/FFA Junior Show Book.
Please make sure to read through all of the guidelines and rules. We have highlighted all of the changes to help you identify new items. If you have questions feel free to contact the Lee
County Extension Office at 319-835-5116.
We are excited to be moving forward and can't wait to share this experience with all of the exhibitors this year.

COVID-19 Guidelines
The 2020 Lee County 4-H/FFA Junior Show will follow the most recent guidelines set forth
in Governor Reynold’s Proclamation, the CDC, the Iowa Department of Public Health and
the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Specific activities we would like
to highlight in the proclamation are:
Ensure that families have the ability to maintain at least a 6 ft. distance from other families. Please increase hand washing. We will have hand sanitizer available. We highly encourage those who are 65+ or have underlying health conditions to stay home. We also encourage the use of masks, especially when social distancing may be difficult. We will be placing signage around to remind people to social distance. We would like to remind those who are feeling ill to stay home. We would appreciate it if everyone would take time to read the guidelines set forth so we can have a safe show. We will do our best to help remind everyone of these guidelines throughout each show. If we all do our part to make sure these guidelines are followed then we will be able to keep our 4-H/FFA families and volunteers safe and healthy.
Please note that the 2020 Lee County 4-H/FFA Junior Show is not open to the public.
This decision has been made to help ensure social distancing guidelines and precautions
are met to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. We thank you for respecting this decision
and look forward to providing a LIVESTREAM option for the community to watch the shows
from the comfort of their own homes.
