THESIS WORK
A fictive architectural project to explore the creation of hybrid spaces. These imagined spaces were derived from elements of narrative and several cities as they were inhabited by the Italian baroque Painter Caravaggio.

The design for the display armature considers the aesthetics and faceted geometry of Irene Neuwirth’s jewelry collection.
The installation armature is envisioned as a welded steel tube frame, to be hung. Attached to the inside of the frame are light fixtures which run the length of the installa-tion. Stretched over the frame is translucent fabric, creat-ing an illuminated skin. The vitrines are to be constructed of painted wood surfaces to serve as a backdrop for Irene’s jewelry.

Hot, Cold, Wet
Three zones are identified:hot, cold, and wet. Electrolux-appliances are grouped by zone according to temperature and stage of preparation. The move-ments and space necessary for the cook determines the dis-tance between appliances.

SUKKAH CITY - Scened Sukkah SITE
Union Square Park, New York
PROGRAM The sukkah is comprised of a light bamboo frame, and a skin of tensioned fabric. The sukkah may be placed in any orientation within the city. It proposes a way of entry on three sides. The largest wall behaves as a surface to showcase backlit activity, giving significance to moments of ritual and gathering as they unfold. While the urban façade provides a consolidated view into the lives of characters within, the sukkah is the rear window, and may be oriented and reoriented into a series of vignettes throughout the city. Gatherings convene at a table where occupants sit over meals and social activity. They are provided with five small seats of the same bamboo construction, which may be tucked away beneath the table after the shades are drawn and activity fades into the night. Upon entering the sukkah through a narrow opening, there is a moment of reflection before being fully enclosed by the structure. Within a tall and narrow space, the occupant has no option but to gaze above through a lattice geometry of reeds, and beyond to the sky.

Perspektif Tower
SITEArchaeological Museum atop the first hill of Istanbul
PROGRAMA structure that responds to the experience of Istanbul as it can be viewed, and experienced from a singular location within the city.
Perspective lines are drawn to a collection of sites which deter-mine the geometry of the architecture and how the occupant may view the city. The structure incorporates the Gulhane Park adjacent to the museum, allowing for rooftops and elevated platforms to become a vertical extension of green space.
