Updates, Keeping in Touch and

Continuation of Learning 20th April 2020

Dear parents and whole school community,

As you are aware schools will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We want you all to know that

we miss you all very much and you are always in our thoughts. We continue to find ourselves in

unprecedented and challenging times. The most important thing during this current situation is to

ensure your child/children feel safe, happy and settled at home. This is a time of worry and anxiety for

all, so the feeling of security at home is a priority. However, if appropriate for you and your family we

will continue to provide ideas and activities to continue learning at home.

We are all available if you require any help or support. This could be anything from help with activities

at home, dealing with feelings and emotions or routines. Please let us know if we can support you in

any way. You can leave a message on the school answerphone (01792) 812285 or email the school

[email protected] or [email protected]

Please do not hesitate to contact us!

Myself and the class teachers will continue to make regular contact with families to offer any support

we can and also chat to the children if they would like to. We have loved talking to you all!

We can not wait for the time when we are all back together at

Crymlyn Primary School again!

Take Care, Stay Safe and Stay Home!

Hub Provision

From Monday 20th April, childcare for critical workers in Neath Port Talbot will be delivered through eight hubs,

modelled on the provision facilitated over the Easter period. The hubs will provide childcare for critical workers who are

still required to attend their jobs during the coronavirus outbreak. They are also able to provide care for children

who are identified as vulnerable by the school and council.

Our staff and pupils are based at Dwr y Felin Comprehensive.

I am so proud of the staff at Crymlyn who have volunteered to work at the hub during the Easter period. This facility has enabled our critical workers to continue the fantastic work

they are undertaking during the pandemic.

I would like to thank the staff at Dwr y Felin for a very warm welcome into the hub. We are in this together!

Continuation of Learning at Home

Foundation Phase

Nursery and Reception.

Mrs May has prepared a variety of activities for you to complete at home. These include some literacy

and numeracy activities along with topic based work. These will be added onto the school website

ready for next week.

Year 1 and Year 2

Mrs May is assigning work in Hwb for the older Foundation Phase children. These activities can be

found by signing into your Hwb account, then accessing Just2easy and j2homework. If you have any

trouble with this, please let us know as soon as possible and we will help you out.

Key Stage 2

Mrs Hughes has prepared an overview of activities that could be undertaken at home. This will be

added to the school website ready for next week. Work will also be assigned on Seesaw, contact

maintained through Zoom and Hwb. Again, if you have any queries, please get in touch.

**Don’t forget that the information sent home before school closed is still very important. It includes

relevant passwords, websites and timetable ideas suitable for all ages.**

We will text out any updates as they are added onto the school website or Twitter.

Please contact us if you have difficulty accessing work online and we are more than

happy to support wherever we can.

Keep Doing, what you are doing!

There are so many wonderful opportunities for our pupils while they are at home with you. Some of these could include cooking, gardening, riding a scooter or bike, reading stories, playing games, making dens, painting, drawing, chalking, exercising together or taking the time to talk together. Don’t overlook the importance of these everyday things. They are so important!
