SQL ServerTo monitor SQL Server, you need to create a Run As Account which has local windows admin and SQL Server Sysadmin rights on the SQL Servers.
In general, I find there is usually a SQL Server DBA group which has SQL SysAdmin rights on the SQL Servers and local windows administrator rights so I create a Windows Account for SQL Monitoring and add it to this group. In the example below I have used the administrator account.
Now associate this Run As Account with the SQL Discovery and Monitoring Run As Profile – double click SQL Discovery Account
Click Next to bring up the Run As Accounts Window
Click Add to associate the Run As Account with Run As Profile
Choose Run As Account and Select class and Click OK
Click Save
Click SQL Server Run As Account to distribute the credentials to the SQL Servers
Click ADD
Search for the SQL Servers and choose ADD and OK
Click OK
Click Close
Repeat this process for assigning the SQL Run As Account to the SQL Server Monitoring Run As Profile
If you have any errors such as failed to login or Secure Reference Override Failures then wait 10 minutes and then close them. They should not return.
If they do, look at the troubleshooting document.
