EmTech is aware of safety and maintenance issues regarding the GC84 230Vac electrical actuator used in older Buckeye and ChickMaster setters. Servicing and replacement of these actuators has also become increasingly more difficult as prices rise and lead times lengthen.

One of the major issues associated with the use of the GC84 actuator is that when operating from 230Vac there is a very real risk of electrocution. This is because the unit is unable to withstand water penetration from pressure washers and trolley washers. The unit does display an IP55 rating but this is negated due to the groove cut into the shaft to operate the level limit switch. At the very least this actuator requires regular testing under typical portable appliance testing (PAT) regulations.

A viable low cost alternative from EmTech All setters in the EmTech product range have been developed to operate using a 24Vdc actuator. This actuator is completely safe and is now available as a retrofit to replace the GC84 230Vac unit. The advantage with the EmTech 24Vdc actuator is that it is IP66 rated and is able to withstand pressure washing. This system is fully compatible with the Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 controls that operates with the Turn Trolley identification and failure system.

The unit is capable of delivery 1000N operating force and does not require routine PAT testing.

Easy to InstallThe EmTech 24Vdc actuator retrofit is very easy to install - requiring removal of the U shaped bracket and the drilling of a new mounting hole further to the back of the base frame. The new actuator is then mounted with a 6mm bolt and spaced centrally using aluminium bushes. Wiring is a simple operation and the existing setter plugs and sockets can be reused. An interface module is supplied that is connected into the existing trolley socket wiring and positioned on the setter roof. Assemblies for larger setters can be wired into one communal enclosure.

board assembly, this effective

upgrade can allow Buckeye

multistage setters to be operated as

a single stage machine

This upgrade assembly will provide enhanced performance for all SN and

SM series Buckeye multistage setters and fixed-rack setters.

These highly effective cooling coils provide EmTech’s NovaTech and

SimTech setters with a three stage cooling water flow output of 2, 4 and 6

litres per minute for maximum efficiency of energy consumption and

temperature control.

conclusively that temperature uniformity

the original equipment.

The standard fan board assembly - 500mm

high air flow capacity unit is a crucial

element of our highly successful NOVATECH

trolley setter. This unit assembly will also fit

into all SN series Buckeye models.

Using the same 500mm high air flow capacity

unit, but utilizing a larger base board, EmTech

can also supply their SimTech fixed-rack fan

board assembly for Buckeye Nova and

ChickMaster fixed-rack setters.

EmTech offer a cooling coil upgrade for all

Buckeye and ChickMaster setters and

hatchers.

Many of the older hatchers and SS series

setter models have insufficient cooling

capacity and can struggle with the greater

embryonic heat output from today’s

breeds.

The new EmTech cooling coil has a

significantly greater cooling capacity that

most systems on the market with 16 parallel

vertical columns as compared to only 12

vertical columns with the latest ChickMaster

coil. Compared to the older Buckeye 150

hatcher the new EmTech assembly has over

three times the capacity.

EmTech’s highly efficient cooling coils reduce

the problem of chick fluff collecting on the coil

therefore removing the need to clean the fluff

from the coil to maintain cooling capacity.

The new coil can operate perfectly well with

higher temperature cooling water.

EmTech can offer a cost effective upgrade as a solution

for the now obsolete Omron CQM1 series PLC and

modules using the CJ platform. This economical

upgrade only replaces the PLC components while still

utilizing the main control switchgear.

EmTech also offers full control upgrade solutions to

replace entire existing incubator and hatchery control

systems regardless of the make of incubator or control

system employed wether it be Buckeye Aces or electro-

mechanical,

for example.

EmTech offers a range of spare parts for all Chick Master and Buckeye

Western fixed rack setters.

For older equipment, as long we can have a sample of the original part, it is

usually no problem - EmTech can usually reproduce to the same (or better)
