Information

• Materials are provided by the teacher for most classes so there is no need to bring anything with you. Sewing machines will be provided for classes where a machine is required.

• Tickets are non-refundable unless a class is cancelled.

• A €1.50/£1.50 booking fee applies per transaction.

• We try to present the programme as advertised but regret that occa-sionally, circumstances dictate that changes have to be made and we cannot be held responsible for any disappointment so caused.

• Tickets will be posted to you within 2-3 weeks of booking, unless the show is imminent when they will be posted to arrive in time.

A Trio of Tailoring Techniques Celia Banks Do you shy away from tackling more tailored garments because you lack the confidence? Come along to this 90 minute workshop to learn how to sew beautiful welt pockets, make a sharp, mitred sleeve vent and prepare the sleeve cap for setting in. All of these techniques will raise your sewing to a new level of expertise, using methods employed by some of the great couture houses. This workshop is suitable for more experienced sewers. Friday

Awesome Applique by Machine Claire Tyler Applique by machine is a fabulous technique that can embellish garments or make simple soft furnishings stunning. Learn how to achieve great results, using the right fabrics and tools for the job, whilst appliqueing a simple cushion. Suitable for any level. Thursday, Saturday & Sunday

Bead Embroidery: Learn to Bead StitchJust Art Stitch In this 90 minute class Just Art Stitch will introduce you to the bead embroidery technique. You will learn how to use printed patterns and charts, counted bead stitching, how to start working with beads and which way to stitch them on the pattern correctly to achieve the best result. You will get a training kit (Precioza beads, special pattern for bead embroidery, needle, thread) and will start your project in the class. At the end of the session you will be able to take your project home to finish them and enjoy your first bead embroidery artwork. Suitable for any level, including children aged 10 or over when accompanied by an adult. Friday & Saturday

Beaded Snowflake Decorations The LKSB Crafters These beautiful beaded snowflakes will look great hanging from your Christmas tree....simple and easy to make using a mixture of glass, crystal or pearl beads on a wire frame, hung with organza ribbon. Make one as a gift or keep it for yourself! Suitable for any level including children aged 10 plus. Saturday

Beat the Buttonhole Blues Celia Banks Do you avoid making projects that require a buttonhole? Do you have problems achieving professional-looking machine buttonholes? Then this one hour class is for you. You will be shown how to prepare the fabric by marking and interfacing carefully and then practice a variety of machine – worked buttonholes on different fabrics. You will also be introduced to some useful haberdashery items that will help you to produce the perfect buttonhole. Suitable for any level. Saturday

Beautiful Neckline Binding Claire Tyler Using bias binding to neaten a neckline is a great alternative to a facing. You will learn how to use binding as a feature, neaten an edges on woven and stretch fabrics and get a perfect finish. Lots of samples and notes to take home. Suitable for those with some dressmaking experience.Saturday

Beginners’ Crochet Bronwen Murray Learn the basic stitches of crochet as you make a simple square which can be used to create a variety of items such as baby blankets, cushions, bags etc. Suitable for beginners. Thursday & Saturday

Beginner’s Free Motion Sampler Sue Cotten During the class you will be introduced to a variety of different free motion techniques and learn to ‘paint with thread’. You will create your own unique sampler which can be used later as an applique panel for a cushion, on a garment or just to frame. Suitable for beginners, this is an ideal opportunity to try free motion stitching but be warned, it is addictive! Friday & Saturday

Knit Using the Magic Loop: 2 Socks at OnceMolly Brown Join Molly and learn how to knit using the magic loop on a circular needle. Once this technique is mastered, it opens the door to knitting two socks at a time, therefore avoiding suffering from ‘second sock syndrome’. Sleeves can also be worked two at a time. You will learn how to set up a magic loop and Diana will cover the pitfalls to look out for as the work grows. Peg Loom Weave a Cosy Scarf Sue Cotten In this workshop you will learn how to peg loom weave to make a cosy scarf. The technique is easy to learn and, you will be surprised at how quick your project grows. You will learn how to thread the pegs to create the ‘warps’ so you can start to weave the ‘weft’ rows. If you love wool and yarn and have a ‘stash’ to use up at home this is the workshop for you. Peg looming is very versatile as you can create wearables, accessories and cushions, you can even weave plastic bags and fabric. In your workshop kit you will be provided with yarn to make your scarf and full instructions to take home. The kit includes backing fabric and strips of many fabrics including sheers and organzas. Although a sample will be shown, you will be encouraged to play and have fun creating your own picture. The stitching used can be very simple or complex depending on your abilities so it is suitable for any level. Serviette Decoupage Candle HolderThe LKSB Crafters Decoupage, from the French word découpe meaning to cut out. Decoupage is a craft form where you paste cut outs on to an object and then varnish. The process gives flat cut outs an appearance of depth. Pictures/ patterns look as though they were painted on. Decoupage is a fun and easy way to decorate just about anything. Shibori in a Jar: Stitch and Dye Angela Daymond, Fenland TextilesShibori has its origins in Japan and involves folding, pleating and scrunching fabric using thread and clips to create beautiful patterns after dyeing. In this workshop you will learn three different stitch resist techniques and a clamp technique using a fat quarter of cotton fabric. The workshop focuses on these four very different techniques and you will get a demonstration of how to put your fabrics into a jar or plastic bag before dyeing them a traditional navy blue. Angela will provide the navy procion dye, soda ash and salt ready for you to complete this workshop at home. Tatting Bronwen Murray Tatting is a knotted lace made with the use of a small shuttle. In the class you will learn how to make the basic knot, which once mastered, allows you to make a variety of motifs and edgings. Tatting is traditionally done in white using a fine smooth thread but in the class we will be using two different coloured threads that will allow you to see and understand how the knot transfers from one thread to the other. It is the mastering of this transfer of the knot that is essential to working any tatting design. Suitable for Beginners. Saturday

Tissue Fitting for Busy People Celia Banks This is a one-hour practical demonstration and explanation of the principles and techniques of tissue-fitting commercial sewing patterns for the best results, using the Palmer Pletsch system. You will be shown how to measure effectively so that the correct size of pattern is chosen and then be given an overview of the process, using a specific fitting pattern, gingham bodices and fashion patterns.
