  • Paul s Origin Story ACTS CHAPTER 8 Birth name Saul, a religious Jew, Pharisee. Acts 8:1a And Saul approved of his (Stephens) execution. Christians were originally called the Way. Acts 8:1b-3 On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all but the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.

  • ACTS CHAPTER 8 -The Apostle Philip shares the good news in Samaria. -Simon the Sorcerer received the good news in Jesus with many other Samaritans. -The Apostles stayed living in Jerusalem but would leave the city to teach and preach. ACTS CHAPTER 9 Author of the book of Acts= Luke One of the most significant events in the history of Christianity? Conversion of Saul on the Road to Damascus.

  • Paul s Origin Story Acts 9:19b-31 (v22) But Saul increased all thee more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ. Jews want to kill Saul. His friends save him using a basket. Saul travels to Jerusalem to meet the Apostles of Jesus. They are afraid until trusted friend Barnabas tells them what happened. Saul preaches freely in Jerusalem until they want to kill him. Then he ships off for his homeTarsus.

  • Paul s Origin Story ACTS CHAPTERS 10-11 -A Roman centurion named Cornelius accepted Jesus offer of salvation. He and his family were baptized. -Cornelius was the first recorded Gentile conversion. Proof that the good news is for all people and not just those of Jewish heritage. -The apostle Peter had to be convinced that this was ok. God used unclean food as an example. Peter ate according to the Law of Moses. God said Go ahead and eat anything you can kill. Peter was confused by this but it happened three times.

  • Paul s Origin Story ACTS CHAPTERS 10-11 -This led to Peters openness to share the good news with Cornelius. -Peter tells the church family about this development. They praise Gods goodness. Before chapter 13 all the people who have trusted Jesus for salvation have been one of three things 1.Jewish 2.Part-Jewish 3.Jewish God-fearing

  • Paul s Origin Story ACTS CHAPTERS 10-11 Acts 11:19-26 Barnabas brings Saul to Antioch Antioch is the first place followers of Jesus are called Christians. Christian- (n) a person who has received Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord and is indwelled by the Holy Spirit of God.

  • Paul s Origin Story ACTS CHAPTERS 10-11 Acts 11:27-30 Barnabas and Saul bring supplies to help fight famine to Jerusalem. ACTS CHAPTER 12 James has been put to death by King Herod. Peter has been arrested by King Herod. He is miraculously delivered by God (Acts 12:3-24)

  • Paul s Origin Story ACTS CHAPTER 12 King Herod dies. Barnabas and Saul return home after famine service. Acts 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had completed their service, bring with them John whose other name was Mark. How we serve in small things will shed light on our usefulness in greater things. (Luke 16:10)

Gods mighty acts in Israels history c. Israelites view of Davids reign as the zenith of prophecy d. Paul sees Jesus as the zenith of prophecy e. Introduces John the Baptist as the forerunner of the One, in a way the last of the prophets.

Fact of the resurrection as an act of God. e. Witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus. Part 2-Accomplished a full presentation of the Gospel message.

By raising up Jesus we receive something. b.Psalm 2:7 is quoted to show Jesus was raised up by God. c.Isaiah 55:3 is quoted to show God promised to raise Jesus. d.Psalm 16:10 is used as analogy to prove Isaiah 55:3 Part 3- Accomplished the Scripture support of Jesuss resurrection and by that power all believers receive the blessing of resurrection as well.

Mob teams up to kill Paul and Barnabas. So they snuck away. Acts 14:8-18 Paul heals a crippled manleading to he and Barnabas being worshipped as gods.
