As I write this though, I can’t help but think about my mother, Jean, and her wonderful love for family during this special time of year. Her recent passing has caused me to reflect on the countless sacrifices she made for us. She never cut corners or did things the “easy way.” She made everything from scratch and with each ingredient she added love and respect for the gift of family that God had placed in her care. She took pride in providing for our needs, especially during the holidays. Bannana pudding and “Knot Rolls” (bread cooked in the shape of a knot) were her specialties. There is something special about traditions like those. I think it may have something to do with love. It’s not just about the food that she made. Nor is it about the thousands of hours it took to make every Thanksgiving meal for the last 60 years. It’s about the unconditional love for family and the dedication to make that the center of her life. Her family included four boys, three girls, and one husband. Mom had a determination to leave a legacy of faith to her children. She took the Joshua 24 mandate very seriously. Mom instilled in me and my brothers and sisters that God is who He says He is and that each of us plays and important part in His kingdom. During this holiday season, give your mom and dad a special hug for their love of God and their dedication to family. Y yo no he venido a llamar a justos sino a pecadores’. In order to accommodate family schedules for Thanksgiving, we are moving our mid-week service to Tuesday, November 21 st at 7:00 pm. This will be a combined service for all ages.

An Evening with

Mike Fisher

A special dinner is being held at Ezell-Harding Christian School to benefit their students on Friday, December 1st at

5:30 pm. The guest speaker is Mike Fisher, retired captain of the Nashville Predators who uses his platform to tell others about Christ and gives God the credit for his life. A range of tickets for the dinner, photo opportunities, and keynote speech are available at EzellHarding.com/Inspire.

Exercise Class If the only exercise you get is pushing your luck, then consider joining Keith Patterson for the exercise class in the Fellowship Hall on Mondays and Thursdays at 6:30. The class has been a great blessing to many of our members to get in better shape, get to know others, and get motivated!

New Sunday Night Series You have a soul given to you by God. But what is your soul? John Ortberg says it is the most important part of you. For the next several Sunday evenings we are going to watch a video series titled, “Soul Keeping,” by John Ortberg. He begins by defining what the soul is, and moves on to talk about what the soul needs. Finally, he talks about restoring our souls. It’s going to be a excellent study, so plan now to attend and invite a friend to join you.

New Mayberry Class Topic Mike Green’s Mayberry class is beginning a series on Forgiveness. If you would like to take part in that study, join them in room 212.
