Develop academic knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary for success in school
next year and beyond high school.
Opportunity to experience college life, develop life long friendships, and gain deeper understanding of the Upward Bound mission.

A head start for next year’s core classes
Up to one full credit of H.S. elective for students who: Participate full time in SA for entire 6 weeks Overall GPA of 3.25 in SA courses Not miss more than 2 days or 12 hours of

STUDENTS MAY BRING CELL PHONES TO CAMPUS BUT
Must be checked in with office staff/Ms. Bieth every morning and placed in lock box
May not be used from 8 am – 8 pm
Student collect phones at check-out EVERY DAY
Failure to surrender phone will result in loss of privileges!!!
Non-Residential students are responsible for their own transportation everyday—carpooling is encouraged!
Upward Bound is NOT responsible for loss or damage to personal vehicles, parking tickets (UNR or City of Reno), or cost of parking. (Please refer to general rules for greater detail)
If a student violates program rules, or U.S. Department of Education or Institution regulations as outlined in the handbook the Three-Strike Rule will be in effect:
First Offense – WARNING – After Verbal Warning, loss of points based upon the offense
Second Offense – PROBATION (Loss of privileges, activities, and points) – Conference with parents and Director
Third Offense – possible DISMISSAL from Summer Academy and/or Upward Bound program
48-Hour advanced written notice for ALL appointments
Appointment pick up/drop off/Sign in & out procedures
Items for UB students – Drop Off procedures
Confiscated Items – UB parents must pick up on Fridays
UB Student Messages – must call UB Office 784-4978
Students will participate fully throughout the entire Summer Academy (6/19 – 7/29)
Students will arrive on time and attend every class
Students will work cooperatively with all Upward Bound staff and university officials
Students will behave in a responsible manner towards self, fellow participants, and the program
Upward Bound participates in the national Summer Food Service Program offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

During the Summer Academy (SA), UB students will meet with their UB Counselor (Bieth, Overby, and Conlan) a minimum of two times during the six-week period for mandatory advising
Summer Advising gives UB students the opportunity to discuss personal/social issues and/or concerns they encounter during the six-week SA
UB students will receive passes to meet with their UB Counselor.
The information included on the pass for advising includes date, time, and location of advising (usually conducted at the UB office, in Argenta, etc.)
