A very big well done to you all!

I can’t believe that we have only got one week left of this half term. The term seems to be absolutely flying by; don’t say it too loudly...but it’ll

soon be Christmas!

Although things have felt a little bit different over this half term, the children have all been absolutely amazing in engaging so positively in

school. It is so lovely to hear the children being so enthusiastic with about their learning.

In Reception, the children have been reading ‘The Gingerbread Man’, and have been re-enacting the story. They made gingerbread cookies

and took part in lots of creative activities.

In Year 1, the children have been looking at ‘Room on the Broom’ and have been making their own spooky potions and describing them. Our

Year 2 children have been counting forwards and backwards in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. They have also been planning their own stories and used

some wonderful adjectives and adverbs.

In Key Stage 2 the children in Mrs Foxwell/Mrs Kettlewell’s class have been using paragraphs to write their own stories of ‘Escape from Pom-

peii’ as well as diary entries of the eruption. In mathematics, the children have been getting to grips with measuring length and learning about

different units of measurement.

In Year 4/5, the children have been writing non-chronological reports linked to their work on lighthouses—they are very impressive. As part of

their work on ‘Black History Month’, the children have been researching the commonwealth soldiers who fought in World War Two.

In Mr Wells’ class, the children have been writing explanation texts on a chosen animal. Children linked this to their science topic to explain

how their animal was adapted to their environment. Mr Well’s was particularly impressed with the children’s enthusiasm for their lesson on

internet safety; they also discussed their own mental health when working ‘online’.

This week we have had some new carpet fitted in the stairwell to Key Stage 1/Year 3/4 and along the top corridor for Upper Key Stage 2. It

looks absolutely fantastic and has made a huge difference.

This week also saw our first Parent/Teacher meetings take place. Due to current restrictions these took place via a telephone call, but were a

huge success. If you were unable to make an appointment with your child’s teacher,

do please contact the office to arrange a call for a later date.

It is normally at this time of year that we would be planning our Harvest Service at

church. Unfortunately this is not something we are able to do in the current climate,

but we still feel it is essential to support those most in need at this time. Therefore, if

you would like to donate any tins or packets of dried food, please do send this in

before Friday 23rd October; We will ensure it is donated to those who need it most.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

A MESSAGE FROM FORCE

Fundraising will of course be rather different this year but we are still determined to raise as

much as we can for the children, so please do join us and let us know any ideas you have. You

will often see us at drop off / pick up (most likely with some ridiculous adornments on our

head at Christmas time especially), so please do say hi and come and chat. A huge thank you to

committee members who have recently handed over to the team above, in particular to Claire

Parsons, Cerian Soley, Debbie Pollard, Kay Buck and Tracey McAnally. We are incredibly grateful

for everything you have done for the children of Trinity Academy over the past few years.

Next Zoom meeting: Monday 19th October, 6pm.

ur YEAR 3 AND 4 TRY OUT FOR THE ROMAN ARMY

This week, instead of PE we did some Roman Army

drill: practising marching while chanting “sin, dex,

sin, dex….” for ‘left/right’. Next we learnt about how

to best use our shields to protect us from attack!

Those Barbarians were not going to get through the

Roman Army defence easily….. but we do need to

practise more!

HARVEST COLLECTION For Harvest we are going to collect food to donate to the StoreHouse food bank in Richmond. There is a list below of items they will accept. There will be a box under the canopy outside the main door near the office for donations to be placed in. Please bring in donations during the week beginning Monday 19th October and we will make sure these are passed on. Thank you.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

This is to inform you that the school

photographer will be in on Thursday 5th

only be taking individual photographs and

none with siblings due to the current
