New features

7519N Breaker Failure: protection element added to M60 Motor Relay

Two three-pole Breaker Failure protection elements have been added to increase the protectioncapability of the M60 Motor relay. The scheme is fully configurable and can be based on breakerauxiliary contacts, current, or the combination of both. The function can be initiated and blockedboth internally and externally.

6048N Communications: Ethernet Global Data (EGD) Protocol added to specified relays

Applicable relays: C30, C60, F35, F60, G60, M60, T35, and T60

The UR-series relays have been modified to support the Ethernet Global Data (EGD) protocol. Therelay functions as an EGD Producer. Up to two slow EGD data exchanges can be produced by therelay, each containing up to 50 data items with a period of 500 to 1000 ms. One fast EGD dataexchange can be produced by the relay containing up to 20 data items, with a period of 50 to 1000ms.

7519N Data Logger: new feature added to M60 Motor Relay

Data logging capabilities have been added to the M60 Motor Relay. The Data Logger samples andrecords up to 16 analog parameters available in the relay using an adjustable sampling ratebetween 1 second and 60 minutes. The feature is useful in capturing motor starting, breaking andload sequence patterns.

8526N Fault Location: new feature added to the F35 Multiple Feeder Management relay

Fault location and reporting have been added to the F35 relay. The F35 can be used for protectionof multiple feeders. One fault report/locator has been provided per each feeder monitored by therelay.

7519N Neutral Directional Overcurrent: protection elements added to M60 Motor Relay

The addition of the Neutral Directional Overcurrent elements allows for better ground faultdiscrimination in specific motor protection applications.

The Neutral Directional Element provides both forward and reverse ground fault indications.Positive-sequence current restraint is available for better sensitivity. The element can be polarizedform neutral voltage, ground current or both signals simultaneously. The Neutral DirectionalElement is used for directional supervision of other non-directional protection elements of the relay.

7519N Phase Directional Overcurrent: protection elements added to M60 Motor Relay

Two Phase Directional Overcurrent elements have been added to facilitate better protectioncoordination in non-typical motor protection applications. The added elements are predominantlyused to supervise phase overcurrent and other non-directional elements.

6374N Transducer Inputs/Outputs: dcmA outputs added to UR-series relays

The range of transducer inputs/outputs has been extended to include dcmA outputs. These outputscan be individually configured as 1 to 1 mA, 0 to 1 mA, and 4 to 20 mA. Any actual value(FlexAnalog parameter) measured by the relay (volts, amps, watts, vars, frequency, etc.) may beassigned to a dcmA output. A user can specify values for the lower upper range limits (for example0.5 pu = 4 mA, 1.0 pu = 20 mA). The relay will scale the output linearly between these two values.

A maximum of 4 dcmA outputs may be configured in the relay.

7219N Voltage Harmonics and THD metering: new features added to F35 relay

Voltage harmonics (2nd to 25th) and THD have been added to the metering functions of the F35Feeder Management Relay. The added values are measured in percentage of fundamentalfrequency components on a per-phase basis, and are available through the local faceplate interfaceand communication protocols, as well as for data logging and oscillography records. In addition, themeasured values can be configured as inputs to universal comparators (FlexElements) for user-defined protection, control or monitoring functions.

7519N VT Fuse Failure: element added to M60 Motor Relay

The VT Fuse Failure (loss of potential) element has been added to meet additional applicationrequirements. The VT Fuse Failure monitoring element is capable of detecting full or partial loss ofVT secondary voltages applied to the relay. The element can also distinguish between the loss ofpotential, de-energized system condition, and faults.

The VT Fuse Failure detector is typically used to alarm and/or supervise the voltage dependentprotection elements that may operate incorrectly during full or partial loss of VT secondaryvoltages.

Modified features

8170C Communications: added new features to IEC 60870-5-104 protocol implementation

1. The UR-series relays now support two simultaneous connections to clients (controlling sta-tions).

2. Binary points are now included as part of a General Interrogation response.

3. The UR-series relays now provide settings to configure up to five valid client IP addresses. Thisis used to provide enhanced security.

4. The UR-series relays now respond to global (broadcast) General Interrogation requests.

5. The UR-series relays now acknowledge the receipt of private data and ignores it. Previously therelays closed the connection upon the receipt of private data.

7725C Communications: allow spaces in GOOSE ID strings

The GOOSE ID string comes from the relay name. The GOOSE ID string is currently truncated atthe first occurrence of a space character. Space characters are now allowed in the GOOSE ID string.

7119N Communications: DNP points list text file now available

With release 4.00, the UR-series relays create a text file of all DNP points. The DNPPointsList.txtfile can be accessed via TFTP and other file transfer protocols from the relay.

11167G Communications: Ethernet operation mode default value changed from half to full-duplex

The default value for the ETHERNET OPERATION MODE has been changed to Full-Duplex fromHalf-Duplex. Since the UR-series relays are commonly used with full-duplex fibre optic switches, this is the optimum default value. No functionality changes have been made.

9622G Communications: factory service information removed from web pages

The factory service information is no longer available via the front panel display report web pageunless the relay is in Factory Service Mode.

7189C Communications: serial communication slowdown when storing device files

Occasionally, communication errors would occur when loading a device settings file to a UR-seriesrelay via the front panel serial interface using the enerVista UR Setup software. This results in

UR-series revision 4.00 release note Release details

GE Multilin 5

communication retries, causing the load time for these files to be longer than expected. The 4.00release has been modified to fix this issue.

10824C Current Differential: the 87L Current Differential element has been modified to correct the Remote Loopback Test in the L90 relay

The L90 Remote Loopback Test has been modified to correct the Remote Loopback Test Failure on aclean communication channel. The Remote Loopback Test would randomly fail for no apparentreason on two or three terminal applications. This problem has been corrected for the 4.00 release.

6376M Current Metering: T60 ground differential current appears to display noise when no input current applied

The calculation of the ground differential signal Igd in the T60 relay has been modified to be forcedto zero if the two input signals In and Ig are below the noise floor of 0.02 pu.

7710R Data Logger: Invalid number (NaN) within the data logger configuration file fixed

When retrieving the data logger configuration file, the value in the multiplier field is set to NaNinstead of a floating-point number. This occurred for data items not yet configured as active in therelay; for example, a source current value being captured in the data logger without the sourcebeing configured. The 4.00 release has been modified so the configuration file returns a zero forfloating point format in this situation.

10651D Direct Devices: Direct Device ## Off text fixed to fit on the front panel display

If the above-mentioned display was in excess of 20 characters, then the last character, f, would betruncated from the front panel display. This has been fixed for the 4.00 release.

6989E Distance: fifth zone of Distance protection added to the D60 relay

An extra zone of phase and ground distance protection has been added to the D60 Line DistanceRelay for a total of five distance zones. The fifth zone design is identical with Zones 2 through 4 andthe fifth zones settings are identical with the existing four zones. In particular, the extra zone hasseparate reach (magnitude and angle), shape (mho, quad), direction (forward, reverse, non-directional), directional angle, limit angles, zero-sequence compensation, and blinder settings.

Teleprotection schemes of the D60 continue to use Zone 1 as a default underreaching element,Zone 2 as a default overreaching element, and Zone 4 as a default reverse-looking element. Zone 5is not associated by default with any relay functions.

9627E Distance: introduction of non-directional distance zones

Provision has been made to set any available zone of distance protection as non-directional. Theenhancement has been introduced by extending the range of the direction setting (Forward andReverse) to include Non-directional. As the direction setting is separate for each zone, andphase and ground elements, each of the distance elements can be set independently as forward, reverse or non-directional.

The reverse reach of a non-directional zone is provided as an independent setting for both themagnitude and maximum torque angle.

When set to non-directional, the mho function becomes a circle spanning between the forward andreverse reach impedances. Decreasing the comparator limit angle below 90 degrees results in alens-like characteristic.

When set to non-directional, the quadrilateral function applies the forward reactance characteristic, right and left blinders, and the reverse reactance characteristic.

All directional supervising elements have been removed from zones configured as non-directional.Distance memory logic does not have any effects on non-directional zones. Refer to the instruction

manual for detailed information regarding comparators used to shape the non-directional distancezones.

6826R Event Recorder: inconsistent logging of the RESET event

If a reset attempt was made when the relay was out of service then the relay only logs one RESETevent when put back into service, regardless of the number of attempts while not in service. Thefunctionality of the reset performs as expected regardless of the programmed state, but the relaydoes not store RESET events at the instance of a RESET command when the relay is not inservice. The 4.00 release fixes this issue.

10973G Factory Service: additional diagnostics added to the UR-series relays

Additional diagnostic data has been added to the UR-series relays in the factory service area. Thesechanges are transparent to the user.

8980G Factory Service: changes to the factory service passcode

The factory service passcode for has been modified. These changes are transparent to the user.

8526E Fault Location: modifications to the fault location and reporting feature

Applicable to: C60, D30, D60, F60, and L90 relays.

The line parameter settings (positive- and zero-sequence impedances, line length and length units)have been consolidated with other fault location settings (signal source and trigger). Before thisrevision, the following relevant settings were available under SYSTEM SETUP !" LINE menu:

POS SEQ IMPEDANCE MAGNITUDE (positive-sequence impedance magnitude)POS SEQ IMPEDANCE ANGLE (positive-sequence impedance angle)ZERO SEQ IMPEDANCE MAGNITUDE (zero-sequence impedance magnitude)ZERO SEQ IMPEDANCE ANGLE (zero-sequence impedance angle)LINE LENGTHLINE LENGTH UNITS

The following settings were available under the PRODUCT SETUP !" FAULT REPORT menu:

FAULT REPORT SOURCEFAULT REPORT TRIGGER

After this revision, the settings relevant for the fault location and reporting will be consolidatedunder the PRODUCT SETUP !" FAULT REPORT menu.

It is advised to re-examine memory map locations for the settings listed above when usingapplications developed for older versions in conjunction with this revision.

6667N Fault Report: new event when a Fault Report is created

With release 4.00, the UR-series relays generate a new FAULT RPT TRIG event when a FaultReport is triggered.

7562G Front Panel Display: data item used without being initialized

A data item used in the front panel display was not always initialized as expected. The results ofthis were transparent to the user. This has been fixed.

8105P Ground Distance: delayed operation of ground distance Zones 2 through 4 when blocked and subsequently unblocked during fault conditions in D30 and D60 relays

When used with a dynamic blocking condition such as the Load Encroachment, ground distanceZones 2 through 4 may operate with additional delay of 4.5 cycles.

UR-series revision 4.00 release note Release details

GE Multilin 7

Ground distance Zones 2 through 4 use extra zero-sequence directional supervision. When a givenzone is blocked, the supervising logic is not checked by the relay. If the supervising logic sensed areverse direction when the blocking signal was applied, it will operate after a time delay of 4.5power system cycles when subsequently unblocked during forward direction conditions. This willresult in delayed operation of ground distance Zones 2 through 4.

The problem can be avoided by supervising the output operands from the ground distance elementsin FlexLogic instead of blocking the elements via their blocking input settings.

This revision rectifies the problem by checking the directional supervision logic constantly even ifthe distance elements are blocked.

10800E Ground Distance: range of zero-sequence compensation for Ground Distance elements widened

Affected products: D30 and D60 relays

The setting range for the magnitude ratio Z0/Z1 has been increased from 0.5 through 7.0 to 0.0through 10.0. This is to facilitate special applications such as distance protection of cables.

8977E Ground Distance: reactance comparator of the quadrilateral characteristic modified in D30 and D60 relays

The reactance comparator of the ground quadrilateral characteristic has been modified for improvedperformance on short and/or sub-transmission lines with the relatively low maximum torque angleand large ratio between the intended right-blinder reach and the reactance reach. The changeaffects only ground quadrilateral zones; the reactance supervision of the mho functions has notbeen changed.

The enhancement is threefold.

1. A provision has been introduced to use either the zero-sequence or negative-sequence currentfor polarization of the reactance comparator. In previous versions, the reactance line was polar-ized from the zero-sequence current. In this revision, the polarizing current should be selectedbased on non-homogeneity of the zero- and negative-sequence networks for faults at theintended reach point. Set the new setting (GND DIST Zn POL CURRENT) to Zero-seq to retaincompatibility with previous revisions.

2. The polarizing current is always shifted by 90° before being used for polarization. In previousversions, the zero-sequence current was shifted by the maximum torque angle of the zone. Thisresulted in limited coverage for resistive faults when the maximum torque angle was visiblylower than 90°. In a way, the reactance line in previous versions was perpendicular to the max-imum torque angle line, while it is perpendicular to the reactance axis in this revision.

3. A provision has been introduced to augment the polarizing current in order to compensate fornon-homogeneity of the network. The non-homogeneity angle setting is meant to rotate thepolarizing current at the relay to reflect better the ideal polarizing current available only at thefault point and thus unknown to the relay. Set the new setting (GND DIST Zn NON-HOMOGENANG) to the value determined by GND DIST Zn RCA 90° to retain compatibility with earlierrevisions.

Refer to the Theory of Operation chapter in the instruction manual for additional details.

7173D FlexElements: Block setting display truncates the setting value

The FlexElement Block setting did not allow 20 characters of space to display the setting on thefront panel display. The display has been modified to fix this issue. No functionality changes to thefeature have been made.

7323E FlexElements: increased speed of operation of FlexElements

The user-programmable universal comparators, or FlexElements, have been made faster as ofthis revision. The response time of the comparator alone has been reduced from one power system

cycle to half a cycle. The total response time depends on the input signals configured in a givenapplication of the FlexElements.

6981H FlexLogic: On as first line of a FlexLogic equation not executing on power up

The On operand as the first line of a FlexLogic equation is not seen as active upon applyingcontrol power to the relay. This is because the equation was looking for a rising edge on theoperand to interpret it as active HIGH. The result of this issue would be an output assigned to theOn operand not being driven as expected when the relay becomes active upon application ofcontrol power. Release 4.00 fixes this issue.

7708P Frequency Rate of Change: modification to Frequency Rate of Change protection element

The Frequency Rate of Change protection element DPO operand is the inversion of the OP operand. The DPO operand should be the inversion of the PKP operand. This has been fixed in the F60, G60,and N60 relays.

10566E Frequency Tracking: frequency tracking limits increased to 70 Hz

Affected products: D60, F60, G60, and T60 relays

The relay tracks frequency up to an upper limit of 70 Hz. If the system frequency is above thisvalue, the relay samples as for 70 Hz. With each Hz of difference between the tracking and actualsystem frequency, a small error is introduced for the basic protection and control functions. Thiserror is at the level of 1 to 2% per each Hz of difference. For example, exposed to 72 Hz voltage, the relay will sample as for 70 Hz and therefore may show an extra error of about 2% in pickupthresholds of voltage-related functions.

In previous revisions the frequency tracking limit was:

66 Hz for the D60 relay67 Hz for the F60 relay63 Hz for the G60 relay65 Hz for the T60 relay

9936D Generator Unbalance: the G60 Generator Unbalance event cause Current LED remains active after the element is disabled

The Event Cause LED Current remained active if the Generator Unbalance element was in anoperated state and then disabled. The LED should turn off when the element is disabled. This hasbeen fixed for the 4.00 release.

9289R Generator Unbalance: the GEN UNBAL STG1 OP FlexLogic operand is now de-asserted when a Block is applied in the G60 relay

The GEN UNBAL STG1 OP FlexLogic operand should de-assert when the element is operated and thenblocked. The 4.00 release for the G60 has been modified to fix this issue.

44327706

D Grouped elements: inconsistent target messaging and LED operation has been fixed

Inconsistent target messaging and LED operation on the front panel display has been fixed forrelease 4.00. The Pickup (PKP) LED indication is active only when a specific element state is PKP andthe element is active, i.e. Enabled and not Blocked. Associated target messaging remains activewhen a specific element state is Operate (OP) and the Target setting has been set to Latched. Anylatched target messages will remain active if the element is subsequently Blocked or Disabled. All associated LEDs are inactive when a specific element is Blocked or Disabled.

GE Multilin 9

The UR-series hardware consists of a main CPU and a number of digital input/output, analog (CT/VT), and transducer input/output modules. The CT/VT modules contain digital signal processors andanalog/digital converters used to sample power system voltages and currents. Sampled values aretransferred to the main CPU across a common backplane for processing functions, such asprotection, and assembly of oscillography data. The main CPU initiates all data transfers on thebackplane. Multiple CT/VT module configurations are required for differential protection. In theseconfigurations only, and under some extremely rare circumstances, data from the individual CT/VTmodules may become unsynchronized or misaligned. This results in an apparent time lag betweensignals from the different CT/VT modules, which can lead to false operation of differential protectionelements in transient conditions. During steady states, the indicated time lag does not result in anyphase shift, and therefore the differential functions will remain balanced. It is only during transientconditions, such as occurrence or clearing of an external fault, load pickup, etc., when the spuriousdifferential current may occur and potentially result in a false trip.

This problem can occur only in configurations with multiple CT/VT modules where data from variousCT/VT modules is used concurrently in angular relationships. Differential protection is primarilyaffected, excluding the L90. Different L90 terminals will not misalign, as the problem is limited CT/VT modules of a single UR-series relay. Once triggered, a misalignment can only be cleared byrebooting the relay. Release 4.00 ensures proper synchronization of the individual CT/VT modules.

6971G Hardware: enhancement to internal system resource usage

Modifications have been made to the usage of internal system resources to optimize the UR-serieshardware memory. These changes are transparent to the user.

1057910600

G Hardware: order codes for release 4.00 supported

6970G Hardware: optimization of CT/VT and CPU modules

Release 4.00 further optimizes the system resources regarding the calculation of metering data anddata transfer from the CT/VT module to the CPU module. These changes are transparent to theuser.

10578G Hardware: optional second power supply order code modified

The order code for the optional second power supply in the X slot has been modified from XH toX1H for the high voltage supply, and from XL to X1L for the low voltage supply.

6829G Hardware: support added for new CT/VT module hardware

Release 4.00 supports the new CT/VT Module hardware, part number 17A0-0070-A1. Releases 4.00and up are to be used on this new hardware exclusively.

6371G Hardware: support added for revision A3 UR-series hardware CPU module

Release 4.00 supports revision A3 CPU module hardware. All subsequent releases, including 4.00,are to be used on revision A3 hardware exclusively.

9486M Harmonics Metering: error in the calculation of the FlexAnalog values Xfmr Harm2 Ad Mag and Xfmr Harm5 Ad Mag has been fixed

The calculation of the FlexAnalog values Xfmr Harm2 Ad Mag and Xfmr Harm5 Ad Mag becomesnegative at high levels of harmonic content (greater than 999.9%) in the T35 and T60 relays. The4.00 release has been modified to clamp these levels at a maximum of 999.9%.

7184G High-Impedance Fault Detection / Communications: The Hi-Z, DNP, and IEC 60870-5-104 feature combination has been restored on the F60

The DNP and IEC 60870-5-104 protocols are now available on a F60 with the Hi-Z option installed. This combination was previously unavailable on F60 3.xx releases.

7164C Internal Enhancement: errors in web page displaying the states of a 6B module

Errors were discovered regarding the data reflecting the state of the contact states in a UR-seriesrelay with a 6B module installed. The minimum and maximum values were found to be incorrect. This has been fixed.

7241D Internal Enhancement: intermittent flickering of the front panel LCD

The backlight for the LCD of the front panel display can flicker intermittently. This has been fixed.

9352F Line Pickup: when used with Delta-connected VTs, the Line Pickup voltage threshold is off by 1.73.

The Line Pickup element does not work correctly with Delta-connected VTs. The phase-to-phasevoltages when passed to this protection element are inadvertently zeroed out. This results in apermanent pickup of the undervoltage condition regardless of the actual voltage applied to therelay. If subsequently, the overcurrent or impedance condition is satisfied, the element may issuean incorrect trip.

It is recommended not to use the Line Pickup element with Delta-connected VTs. If required, theLine Pickup logic presented in the Instruction Manual should be reproduced in FlexLogic to providethe switch-onto-a-fault functionality.

The element works correctly with Wye-connected VTs.

Release 4.00 corrects this problem.

10551R Load Encroachment: incorrect DPO Event timestamp has been fixed

The timestamp associated with the Load Encroachment DPO event was incorrect (however, theassertion of the DPO operand was correct). This issue has been fixed for the 4.00 release.

10596G Neutral Directional Overcurrent: the positive-sequence restraint of Neutral Directional Overcurrent element is now a user setting

Applicable relays: D30, D60, F60, G60, L90, and M60

Neutral Directional Overcurrent and Negative-Sequence Directional Overcurrent functions applypositive-sequence restraint a small portion of the positive-sequence current magnitude issubtracted from their operating signals for better sensitivity and security.

In order to expand applications of the two elements, the so-far hard-coded coefficients of 1/8th and1/16th accordingly, have been turned into user-adjustable settings.

Set the new setting at 1/8th for the negative-sequence current, and 1/16th for the zero-sequencecurrent to retain backward compatibility.

7003R Non-Volatile Latches: latches generate ON or OFF events at power-up

The Non-Volatile Latch feature should only generate an event when a latch has changed state.Release 4.00 fixes this issue.

10596G Open Pole Detector: remote line end open capability added to the Open Pole Detector element in the D60 relay

Capability to detect remote end open has been added to the Open Pole Detector element in the D60relay. The remote end open condition is signaled via new FlexLogic operands. The existingoperands have not been modified in order to ensure backward compatibility of the feature.

Comparing an estimate of the remote end current with a separate current threshold (new setting) isused to detect the remote end open condition. The remote current is approximated by calculatingthe line charging current based on the voltages and line capacitances, and subtracting it from thelocal current.

Two extra settings has been added to the OPEN POLE feature: positive-sequence and zero-sequence reactances of the line. The settings are in secondary ohms and should be entered asparameters of the entire line. If shunt reactors are used, the net capacitive reactance of the lineand the reactors should be used.

R Oscillography: error in oscillography records time base when no Type 8 modules are installed has been fixed

In previous releases, the time displayed in an oscillography file in the enerVista UR Setup softwarefor a UR-series relay without a type 8 module (CT or VT inputs) was twice the actual time in therelay. Relay functionality remained as expected, but the representation in the oscillography recordwas incorrect. This has been fixed for release 4.00.

4079R Oscillography: firmware revision is now available in oscillography files

The UR-series firmware revision is now part of the header information in the Oscillography, DataLogger, and Hi-Z oscillography Comtrade configuration files. The revision is located as the DeviceID field as part of the Comtrade specification.

7182D Phase Directional Overcurrent: phase directional spacing error

Applicable relays: D30, D60, F60, G60, L90, M60, and T60.

There were no intentional spaces between semicolons and setting values in the Phase Directionalelement settings area on the front panel display. This has been fixed.

7217P Phase Undervoltage, Underfrequency, and FlexElements: incorrect operation when these functions operated, have been blocked, and subsequently unblocked

The three elements may respond incorrectly to the following rare sequence of operating conditions: legitimate pickup and time-out resulting in element operation, blocking signal applied, and subse-quently removed after any period of time. When unblocked, these elements may operate regardless of their input signals at the moment of unblocking. This may result in a false trip.

Avoiding using the blocking inputs and instead supervising the pickup operands with the blocking condition eliminates the problem.

The 4.00 release has been modified to remove the weakness.

7228R Real Time Clock: an event is now created when changing system date or time

A new setting has been added to the UR-series relays as follows: PRODUCT SETUP !" REAL TIMECLOCK !" REAL TIME CLOCK EVENTS: Enable/Disable. This will allow events to be generated whenthe time/date is stored via the keypad or the enerVista UR Setup software.

10476G Remote Inputs/Outputs: the number of Remote Inputs has been increased to 64 for the 4.00 release of the N60 relay

The number of Remote Inputs available on the N60 Network Stability and Security Relay has beenincreased from 32 to 64.

7697R Sensitive Directional Power: improper operation of the DIR POWER STAGE DPO FlexLogic operand has been fixed

The DIR POWER STAGE DPO FlexLogic operand was set as the inverse of the DIR POWER STAGE OPoperand when it should be the inverse of the DIR POWER STAGE PKP operand. This has been fixed forthe 4.00 release.

10560E Single Pole Tripping: single-pole tripping from time-delayed distance zones available with the 4.00 release for the D60 relay

Some protection philosophies allow single-pole tripping from time-delayed distance zones. Tofacilitate this application, the following two modifications have been made.

1. The operate FlexLogic operands of all distance zones reset instantaneously upon detecting anopen pole condition in the corresponding phase (refer to logic diagrams 837019 and 837020).This is to prevent over-tripping of the healthy phases after initiating a correct single-pole trip(due to relatively slow reset of the distance zones 2 and above). Zone 1 normally intended forsingle-pole tripping already resets its output operands instantaneously.

2. The reset time of the Phase Selector has been extended from 150 ms to 500 ms (refer to logicdiagram 837027). As a result, 500 ms is the maximum delay for protection elements meant toinitiate single-pole tripping.

8225P Stator Ground: hysteresis added to 100% Stator Ground element

The 100% Stator Ground element in the G60 relay has no hysteresis applied to the Stage 1 and 2Supervision levels. This causes the element to chatter when the operating quantity approaches thesupervision setting thresholds. The 4.00 release incorporates a 2% hysteresis level for thesesettings.

7664R Stator Ground: improper operation of the 100% STATOR STG DPO FlexLogic operand fixed.

The G60 FlexLogic operand 100% STATOR STG DPO was previously assigned as the inverse of the 100%STATOR STG OP operand when it should be the inverse of the 100% STATOR STG PKP operand. This hasbeen fixed for the 4.00 release.

7652R Third Harmonic Neutral Undervoltage: improper operation of the G60 FlexLogic operand 3RD HARM NTRL UV DPO has been fixed

The G60 FlexLogic operand 3RD HARM NTRL UV DPO was assigned as the inverse of the 3RD HARM NTRLUV OP operand when it should be the inverse of the 3RD HARM NTRL UV PKP operand. This has beenfixed for the 4.00 release.

10380H Thermal Model: running cool-down characteristic corrected in M60 Thermal Model element

The running cool-down algorithm of the thermal model has been rectified to account for the hot/cold stall ratio setting and not allow the thermal capacity to inadvertently decay to zero when motoris running at rated temperature. This correction allows for more accurate motor thermal modelingand will prevent possible motor overheating or premature tripping.

Since the problem has been fixed, the mitigation of the thermal memory by applying conservativesettings for the thermal model is no longer required.

9638G Tracking Frequency: FlexElement actual value reporting 100 times too high when the input is set to Tracking Frequency has been fixed

The calculated actual value for a FlexElement with its input setting set to Tracking Frequency was100 times greater than expected. This resulted in a maloperation of the FlexElement. This hasbeen fixed for the 4.00 release.

9090E Transformer Differential: user-selectable reference winding added for T35 and T60 relays

The capability to select the reference winding for main differential protection has been added. Therelay uses the concept of a reference winding to match the transformer and CT ratios and to specifythe meaning of per-unit settings (pickup, breakpoints, high-set threshold). In previous revisions, the relay automatically selects the reference winding, taking into account both transformer and CTratios.

The 4.00 release allows either automatic or forced selection of the reference winding. User selectionof the reference winding setting is useful in applications with grossly differing CT ratios such as ontransformers with tertiary delta windings, where the least-intuitive winding could be selected in theautomatic mode. With the new setting, such undesired reference winding selection can beoverridden.

10596G Trip Output: the Trip Output element on the D60 relay has been modified to enhance accuracy of single-pole tripping on evolving faults

The relay incorporates accurate and sensitive phase selection for single pole tripping. The followingscenario may create some problems in terms of over-tripping healthy phases. Assume a close-inreverse single-line-to ground fault evolving into internal close-in single-line-to-ground fault.Normally, the phase selector will indicate correct fault type responding to the forward, internal faultand ignoring the pre-existing reverse fault. Initially, however, the phase selector will indicate faulttype of the first, external fault, and after the second, internal fault occurs will adjust its indication. The adjustment may take few milliseconds. If the local system is extremely strong, zone 1protection will respond very fast to the internal fault. It is so because some voltages are depressed, and some currents are elevated already due to the first fault. As a result of ultra fast operation ofzone 1, and the transition period of the phase selection, a race condition might occur resulting inover-tripping healthy phases.

The above problem can be solved by intentional delay - by half a cycle or so - the tripping action ifa reverse fault is detected first. A new input, REVERSE FAULT, has been added to the Trip Outputelement. If this input is asserted, the trip command will be delayed by the amount entered underanother new setting, TRIP DELAY ON EVOLV FAULTS. By default (setting Off for the REVERSEFAULT input), the Trip Output element retains backward compatibility and no delay is added underany conditions.

The enhancement should be used only in single-pole tripping applications for enhanced accuracy oftripping, as it involves a trade-off between accuracy of single-pole tripping and trip time on evolvingexternal-to-internal faults.

Response of the relay to regular internal faults (non-evolving from external faults) is not affectedby this enhancement.

7186D User-Programmable Displays: spacing in the user display messaging text has been modified

Additional spacing has been put in the user display messaging text on the front panel interface. These changes are cosmetic only and no operational functionality has been modified.

7197R User-Programmable Fault Report: modifications to the user-programmable fault report

If an analog channel is configured with a FlexAnalog setting and that setting is then changed toOff, the report continues to record the original setting until the reports are cleared in theCOMMANDS menu. Changing a setting to a different FlexAnalog setting works as expected. Theproblem only occurs if an existing setting is set to Off. This has been fixed for release 4.00.

7702R User-Programmable Fault Report: modifications to the user-programmable fault report file

The User-Programmable Fault Report text file has been modified to include a blank line betweendata for better readability. The data content of the report remains unchanged.

9681G User-Programmable LEDs: settings for LED Test changed

The settings for the front panel display LED Test were internally stored in the UR-series relays asgrouped settings when they should be stored as an individual settings. This has been changed forthe 4.00 release. The LED Test operates as expected and is retained in the settings file for the IEDas expected.

9617D Volts Per Hertz: missing Volts per Hertz T-Reset setting unit has been added to the display

The Volts per Hertz element T-Reset setting unit of s for seconds was missing in the front paneldisplay. The 4.00 release has been modified to fix this issue.

7576P VT Fuse Failure: enabling the first VTFF feature unintentionally enables all VTFF features

Applicable to models: C60, D30, D60, F60, G60, L90, M60, and N60.

As of release 3.30, the UR-series relays support one VT Fuse Fail (VTFF) element per signal sourceyielding 2, 4 or 6 VTFF elements per relay depending on hardware configuration (2 VTFF functionsper each CT/VT module configured).

Unintentionally, all VTFF elements use the function setting (enabled/disabled) of the first VTFF. As aresult, enabling the first VTFF element enables all of them, and the function settings of VTFFelements 2 through 6 do not have any effect.

The problem can by avoided by not using the output operands from the VTFF elements that are notmeant to be enabled and applied.

The 4.00 release has fixed the problem.
