URAVAN’S KEY BUSINESS STRATEGY • Explore for high-grade uranium deposits in sandstone basin environments. • Target size – uranium deposits grading >1% containing >100,000,000
pounds U3O8
• Drill an economic uranium intersection
on one-in-three projects explored.
• Reduce the number of drill holes to discovery by two-thirds.
• Develop new exploration technologies
using applied research – successful exploration through science.

RATIONALE FOR APPLIED RESEARCH To find the next generation of uranium deposits, a cost effective way to identify
buried uranium mineralization in under-explored terrain is essential
TSX-V : UVN
To accomplish this, understanding the process by which elements move from buried uranium mineralization to near surface environments (soils
and plants) where they can be geochemically measured is critical
EXPLORATION THROUGH APPLIED RESEARCH

FINDING DEPOSITS USING APPLIED RESEARCH
7
• Microbial activity at the surface of buried uranium mineralization promotes the migration of elements and gaseous compounds upward to surface environments
• This process traps and concentrates metal complexes and distinctive isotopic signatures in certain soil components and vegetation resulting in unique anomalies over the deposit.
• By sampling and analyzing soil and plant material, bedrock sources of buried mineralization can be identified.

CIGAR WEST URANIUM DEPOSIT STUDY • In 2009, under a collaborative agreement with Areva and Cameco, Uravan and QFIR
conducted a pilot study over the known high-grade Cigar West uranium deposit1. • The study included sampling and analyzing drill core, soil horizons, vegetation and tree
cores over a known high-grade uranium deposit. • Objective: trace the movement of elements and unique isotopic signatures from the
deposit to surface environments.
Cigar West Study area showing locations of surface samples & drill holes
1The Cigar Lake deposit is on the Waterbury/Cigar uranium property; a joint venture partnership between Cameco Corporation, AREVA, Idemitsu Kosan Co. Ltd., and Tokyo Electric Power Co. [TEPCO]) located in the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan. Uravan thanks both AREVA and Cameco for their research collaboration and gracious support for the Cigar West Study; and the support provided by the Cigar Lake facility during our field operations.

The results of the study clearly identified distinctive elements and isotopic compositions that have been mobilized from the Cigar West deposit to the surface media through > 450 meters of sandstone.

WHY WE USE LEAD ISOTOPES IN URANIUM EXPLORATION
• Lead (Pb) is the natural end product of uranium (U) decay and can therefore be used as a vectoring tool to uranium deposits.
• Uranium has 2 main isotopes: U235 and U238. • 99% occurs as U238, while ~0.7% occurs as U235. • Importantly each isotope naturally decays over time to a
different isotope of lead • U238 Pb206 U235 Pb207 • We use the ratio between these two Pb isotopes to
identify possible U deposits
As a result of the Cigar West Study, Uravan has developed new technologies and specific indicators that identify the most probable location of buried uranium mineralization versus drilling blind conductors.
TSX-V : UVN
WHY WE USE LEAD ISOTOPES IN URANIUM EXPLORATION
• 207/206 isotope ratio values measured in soil, water or vegetation is ~0.90 (common lead); not anomalous
• At a uranium deposit this 207/206 ratio is ~0.10 (radiogenic lead); very anomalous
• As radiogenic lead migrates away from a deposit it ‘mixes’ with common lead, producing 207/206 ratios at <0.65.
• It is this subtle change in lead isotopic composition that Uravan’s geochemical analyses can measure to vector drilling.

DEEP EXPLORATION GEOCHEMISTRY FOR URANIUM DEPOSITS
• Uravan and QFIR have entered into a three (3) year collaborative applied research grant; a government sponsored NSERC CRD approved project.
• Goals of the study: (1) Apply recently developed geochemical protocols for remote sensing undercover deposits (from the Cigar Lake Study) to the Outer Ring and other Uravan Athabasca Basin projects. (2) Develop new protocols for more reliable and definitive indicators of mineralization at depth in these prospective but under-explored areas.
• Budget: $100,000 per year for 3 years from Uravan with matching funds by the Federal Government.
