The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) invites you to a public meeting to discuss the resurfacing of US 45 from westbound County H to westbound WIS 28 in Washington County. The meeting will have an open house format and the public is welcome to attend at their convenience. The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible. Early identification of any possible issues or concerns from residents and business owners is important as preliminary plans are developed.

Project OverviewWisDOT is proposing to resurface 1.2 miles of US 45 from westbound County H to westbound WIS 28 in the village of Kewaskum in Washington County. The purpose of the project is to address the pavement deterioration and poor ride quality that can no longer be economically maintained.

Proposed Improvements• Improve the pavement by resurfacing the roadway• Signal improvements at the US 45 and County H intersection• Curb ramp upgrades to meet ADA requirements• Replace pavement marking• Local water main and sanitary sewer replacement

US 45 ResurfacingPublic Involvement Meeting #1

Real EstateNew right of way acquisition is needed for this project to upgrade the pedestrian curb ramps at intersections to meet ADA requirements. Small areas of fee and temporary limited easement (TLE) will be needed to allow construction of the new curb ramps. Right of way needs will be determined during the preliminary design phase. WisDOT expects real estate acquisition to begin in the summer of 2020.

The village of Kewaskum is planning to construct a 9/11 Memorial site to serve as a public space for reflection and remembrance in front of the Kewaskum Municipal Building Annex located at the corner of US 45 and 1st Street. Additional information on the memorial can be found at www.wisconsin911memorial.com. It will be necessary to acquire a small amount of fee and TLE from this property to construct 2 pedestrian curb ramps.

Construction StagingUS 45 will be closed and detoured to through traffic during construction. Local traffic and emergency response access will be maintained. Roadway work will be staged within the closed roadway to maintain local traffic and pedestrian access.
