    ACTT Operation Yields More than 7,160 lbs of Marijuana

    Intelligence driven operations continue to yield results

    TUCSON, Ariz. Ongoing ACTT activities in Arizona yielded more than 7,160 pounds ofmarijuana with an estimated street value of more than $5.7 million and 350 arrests in a 30-dayoperation which ended May 2.

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) - Office of Border Patrol (OBP), led the ACTT operation,which focuses on putting pressure on transnational criminal organizations operating in the WestDesert.

    This operation involved the following agencies:

    Pima County Sheriffs Department (PCSD) Maricopa County Sheriffs Office (MCSO) Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HSI)

    CBP Office of Air and Marine (OAM) Tohono Oodham Police Department (TOPD) National Park Service (NPS) Arizona HIDTA Arizona National Guard (AZ NG)

    These agencies participated in an operation that disrupted transnational criminal organizationsscouting activities and degraded their ability to operate. The intelligence driven operation thatdisplayed the continued level of cooperation, coordination and communication between agenciesacross Arizona, led to 350 arrests and the seizure of 7,164.66 pounds of marijuana.

    ACTT assets conducted proactive law enforcement operations to systematically detect, disrupt, denyand degrade transnational criminal organizations. The operation has made it more difficult forcriminals to operate in this area.

    A partnership like ACTT demonstrates how CBP works in cooperation with law enforcementagencies to strengthen our border security and improve the quality of life in communities throughoutthe state of Arizona, said Ajo Station Patrol Agent in Charge Jack Jeffreys.

    Local, Tribal Governments and the Government of Mexico against criminal organizations that pose athreat to the United States. These agencies continue working together to diligently share vitalinformation on current smuggling trends that have led to a number of mutually beneficial,intelligence driven operations that continue to support their common goal of making our countrysafer.
