US response to Japanese aggresion:
•Roosevelt shuts off American trade •Embargo on exporting aircraft to Japan•Freezing all Japanese assets in the United States
US fleet at Pearl Harbor remained the only serious threat to Japan’s navy(blocking oil tankers). Japan reacted.

In 1945, after the invasion of Berlin, Japan was issued an unconditional surrender by the United States, Great Britain and Soviet Union.
After ignoring the ultimatum, United States dropped atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and August 9, 1945, killing more than 130, 000 civilians. Japan surrendered instantly, ending the Second World war
