USA Travel Magazine’s Holiday GuideThe holiday season is a time

to unite with those we cherish

and share memorable

moments. It is also a time

when we remember those who

have passed and how much

they meant to us, which is the heart of

Cartoonist, Tom Wilson’s new memoir book,

Zigzagging: How Ziggy Saved My Life. We

also celebrate the memory of our friend, Cortney,

a gentle & kind soul who made us laugh. And, we

send our blessings to the Livingston family.

We hope you all have a blessed and memorable holiday season!

This issue is dedicated to our readers, and all those who have shared their stories along the way. You’re the ones who touch our lives and inspire us to reach for the stars without ever knowing how much you

mean to us. Thank You!

We’ve always enjoyed a diverse mix of music. From classic rock like The Who and Ziggy Stardust, to jazz

and alternative selections. Music is universal. It can inspire and take you back to a special moment in life

or it can take you on a trip to your favorite destination, which is the case with Howard Livingston and the

Mile Marker 24 Band. Their fun and lively island beat takes us back to the Florida Keys every time we

play one of their CD’s! Continued on page 3 ...

Rockin in The Keys With

Leroy & I, and our friends: Howard Livingston, Carolina, Christina,

Neela and Lena!

Maybe it’s the sunshine or perhaps, it’s the sand between your toes, but once you get to the Keys you find yourself right at home. And, you know you’re having a great time when you’ve got soulful music, and dear friends to share the moment as we did on our recent trip.

It is here, in the Keys, where we spent the afternoon together our friends, Howard Livingston of the Mile Marker 24 Band, and his lovely wife, Cyndy. It was a per-fect day with clear blue skies in the Sum-merland Key near Mile Maker 24, which is where he took his band’s name.

Soon after arriv-ing our gracious hosts brought out his guitar and revived up the outboard motor he uses to blend margari-

tas on-stage, and we sang along to fitting tune, “Blame It On The Margaritas!”

Howard Livingston & the Mile Marker 24 Band mix together a laid back Caribbean beat that you cannot help but dance to whenever you hear it! Even if the weather is overcast and gloomy here in Indiana, each time we play one of their CD’s we find ourselves back in the Keys with the crystal blue ocean lapping at our ankles while we sip margaritas.

It’s moments like this that make a trip memorable. These are the moments

Howard Livingston & The Mile Marker24 capture in each song, and why theirfans keep coming back for more!

Along with Howard Livingston, The MileMarker 24 family includes the musicaltalent of Jason Miller, Dave Herzog, Hul-ber Gagliardini, and Leigh Maples. Eachyear the band performs around the Keysas they did in Key West at the ParrotheadsMOTM Margaritaville Street Fest onDuval and Fleming Streets in earlyNovember.

This is just one of the festive concertsscheduled for the band that get the crowdsmovin to a island beat. Check out thebands website at www.milemarker24.comfor concert dates or to order one of theirCD’s click on the covers or listen to them here.

When his father, Tom Wilson Sr. retired in 1987, Tom Wilson Jr. carried on Ziggy’s story. And, since then, this unassuming character has united generations since he

came to life in 1971.

In his new memoir book, Zigzagging: How Ziggy Saved My Life, Cartoonist, Tom

Wilson, shares his journey from childhood up to the hardest moment in his life; when

he learned his young wife, Susan, was diag-nosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, it

was a battle she later lost.

Yet Ziggy lives on, and Zigzagging, we find ourselves walking beside Wilson during his family tragedies, deep depression, and learn

how he was able to live happily with the help of Ziggy, who continues to inspire

millions of readers everyday.

As you read the book you find yourself on a personal tour, sharing intimate thoughts and

family time with Tom Wilson Jr. These are the moments that remind us in a simple way

of how precious each day.

If you’re a fan of Ziggy, this wonderful book will give you new insight into how the little guy has touched the lives of millions. As an artist, you’ll appreciate how Tom Wilson’s father used Ziggy to inspire is son’s creativity, and shared important life

lessons along the way.

Zigzagging: How Ziggy Saved My Life is a book everyone will enjoy because it is created with a personal touch that moves

us.

Published in over 600 newspapers, reaching 75 million readers daily, Ziggy has also moved into the new age of media on his

website www.Ziggyzone.com and www.uclick.com.

Tom Wilson’s new book, Zigzagging: How Ziggy

Saved My Life, inspires us to appreciate the little

things in life!

Ready for a trip back to the golden age of a city that shines like a desert star in

California? In the Palm Springs Holiday, by Peter Moruzzi, you'll find classic images of days gone by when

Palm Springs inspired the imaginations of architects and artists alike throughout

the 1910's to the 1960's.

Each page is a time capsule filled with vintage photographs and postcards that

capture an age that is all but a faint memory today. One of my favorite

postcards is the "Lazy Person's Postcards" from 1939 that shows a classic photograph of Palm Springs, and then has check boxes next to

random headings.

Peter Moruzzi has

brought together

some of the best works of vintage advertising and photography to create this great

book.

For those who remember dining, dancing, and lounging poolside in

America's Desert Resort, this book is a memorable album. For those of us who

can only imagine what it was like in those days, a Palm Springs Holiday is a glimpse into the swinging nightlife that Hollywood stars and starlets enjoyed.

101 Things NOT Every Traveler Should Know How To Do

Strap on your seat belt and prepare for the ride of your life as you turn each page in Forbidden Knowledge Travel. You’ll find yourself running with the

bulls and sneaking into travel destinations or at least considering it

with the inside secrets that entertain as well as make you wonder - who is crazy

enough to do that?

Thanks to Michael Powell we now know more than we expected about

travel. He warns us to beware - that this interesting collection is merely for

entertainment, but it makes you wonder how long it will take before you’ll get caught Driving Like A Maniac (page

188).

In Forbidden Knowledge Travel, Powell reveals a few new tricks and some we would never consider while traveling. His humorous and daring tips are just what you need on a long flight to pass the time. In fact, he even mentions the

Mile High Club, (page 146) which may be difficult to join these days unless

you’re chartering your own plane.

We have to send a thank you out to Michael for revealing things we always suspected, yet dared not to ask. Now we

know how to not only Travel To The Past (page 107), but we’ll also

recognize our fellow daredevils along the way. We’ll remember to send you a copy of our ticket if we survive the trip!

You may never look at traveling the same way

again after reading Forbidden Knowledge

Travel!

This fun and insightful book reveals secrets few

know, or seldom mention about their

travel adventures.

Navigating our way across the country is often a humorous and entertaining adventure in its self. I get out the map and follow the wiggly lines to find the easiest,

although not always the quickest route to our destination.

Then there are those unusual maps that take us to places unknown and yet to be discovered as is the case in the

book Strange Maps: An Atlas of Cartographic Curiosities.

These are maps with a twist, and Frank Jacobs, author, cartographer, and lover of all things strange has put them

all together in one book. In Strange Maps: An Atlas of Cartographic Curiosities on page 77 you’ll find an

interesting story behind the state of Oklahoma.

Did You Know?

Oklahoma was almost divided into two states – Oklahoma and the native nation of Sequoyah?

It’s true, and Frank Jacobs takes us back in

history to discover many more interesting tidbits of

history that have been overlooked in this

fantastic book. As you turn each page you un-

cover something new and unexpected, which is what makes Strange

Maps: An Atlas of Cartographic Curiosities the perfect gift for the person who has everything else or enjoys

history and intrigue.

To learn more about the amazing maps and order your copy of Strange Maps: An Atlas of Cartographic

Curiosities visit Jacob’s blog www.strangemaps.wordpress.com.
