Road to IELTS is your best possible online
preparation and practice resource for IELTS. With
over 120 hours of interactive activities, advice videos
from British Council experts, hints and tips on
question types as well as downloadable practice
tests, it is comprehensive, up-to-date and aimed
precisely at the challenges candidates face.
Road to IELTS is organised by skill, allowing
candidates to plan their learning according to specific
individual needs. Alternatively, teachers can set up
learning paths, guiding candidates to the areas where
they most need practice. The four key elements are:
1. Starting out: an eBook introducing each skill
area, explaining task types and providing hints not
only on how to prepare but also on how to
achieve the best marks on test day.
2. Advice and tutorials: in a series of videos, British
Council experts explain the best way to prepare
for IELTS. This ranges from specific pointers:
“That one minute preparation time in
the Speaking test is crucial: write
down key words...”
“In the Reading test, first of all skim the
first paragraph...”
to full tutorials on the Writing and Speaking
papers.
3. Practice zone: this is where learners will spend
most of their time. With more than 120 hours of
focused activities, candidates practise tackling
the various question types, pick up exam tips and
familiarise themselves with the format of the
exam. The videos of four full Speaking tests are a
great confidence booster.
4. Test practice: candidates simulate the test
experience with three full mock tests in each of
Reading, Writing, and Listening papers.
As learners work through Road to IELTS, the
Progress function enables them to monitor their
activity across sessions, analyse the way they are
spending their time and compare their performance
with other online users. They can even predict their
scores in the Reading and Listening test using our
interactive widget.
Most candidates need all the help they can get while
preparing for this crucial exam. A recent study of
more than 100,000 independent learners concludes
that Road to IELTS helps candidates perform better
in the IELTS test. Give your candidates the unique
advantage they deserve – with the British Council’s
