usana wasn’t always an international company with thousands of Associates and countless awards under its belt. Everyone has to start somewhere. In 1992, USANA founder and chairman Dr. Myron Wentz took his scientific background and the wealth of knowledge he acquired about cel-lular needs at Gull Laboratories and created a supplement line that would change the way the world looked at nutrition. “It was my primary objective to create the most potent broad-spectrum antioxidant formula-tion possible,” Dr. Wentz explained to the packed EnergySolutions Arena. “USANA was so successful at this that we soon became known as ‘the antioxidant company.’”

Diamond Director Sterling Ottesen, the very first USANA Associate, also gave the audience insight into the beginnings of USANA and shared his thoughts about USANA’s legacy and its importance. “Dr. Wentz has history on his side,” he said. “Regardless of whether you are younger or older, whether you’re brand new to USANA or you’ve been with us for years, it’s impor-tant to understand where we came from. USANA’s history helps free us from being ‘average’ and inspires us to become legendary in the way we live our lives.”

Associates and guests were able to put USANA’s history into perspective by lis-tening to Kevin Guest, USANA’s president of the Americas and Europe, recount his

first USANA experience. “I remember USANA’s first Convention,” he said. “All of the audio/visual equipment fit in my car.” Telling this story on stage in front of an enormous and totally interactive screen, the biggest of its kind, to an audience of thou-sands, the message was clear: USANA has come a long way.

Dave Wentz, USANA’s CEO, was eager to thank everyone who contributed to build-ing such an incredibly successful company. “You have created a legacy of health, a leg-acy of improving lives, and a legacy of living life and achieving success your way,” he said. “It’s the momentum and fire fuelled by each and every one of you that has built this legacy company.”

of course you’ve heard of dr. mehmet oz. You know, the cardiothoracic surgeon, bestselling author, and host of that ridic-ulously popular TV show? That guy who’s been changing the way millions of people understand and take care of their health? Well, not to brag or anything, but Dr. Oz and USANA are pretty tight. After all, he shared the stage with Dave and Dr. Wentz at the Health and Happiness Summit in New York City and the Healthy Living Summit in Hollywood. He also joined forces with USANA to help fight teen obesity through his nonprofit organization, HealthCorps. So yeah, we go back.

Even so, Dr. Oz being at USANA’s International Convention was a big deal. Everyone already knew Dr. Oz was a health rock star, but when he rose through a trapdoor to the stage of the EnergySolutions Arena with a guitar in hand, the crowd went wild. Once the

excitement from his entrance died down, the audience listened with rapt attention as he talked about making simple chang-es for health and fitness. He emphasized that most people know when they’re leading an unhealthy lifestyle, but point-ed out that “people don’t change their lives because of what they know, they change their lives because of how they feel.” Any Associate looking to spread the message of true health had a lot to learn from Dr. Oz’ sage advice.

As he concluded his talk, the audience roared to life—but the show wasn’t over. Because Dr. Oz had so much fun with his dramatic entrance, Dave Wentz present-ed him with a guitar signed by all the USANAfest performers. Now Dr. Oz will always have a reminder that when two giants in the field of health get together, it pretty much rocks.

  • when usana celebrates you, it doesn’t mess around. On Thursday afternoon, the EnergySolutions Arena was filled with thousands of people in the midst of shock, excitement, and disbelief. Did Dave Wentz really just say that every distributorship gets a free iPad? But when they went to the Salt Palace to stand in line—or, more accurately, when they raced to the Salt Palace to run in line—they found it was true.

And these iPads aren’t just cool new toys—they’re the future of owning a USANA business. They came loaded with USANA’s brand new app, the True Health Assessment, which will change the way Associates prospect forever (learn more on page 41). They’re also an incredibly conve-nient way for Associates to manage their business wherever they go, while using social media to promote USANA. The iPad itself is a prospecting tool—“What, this? Oh, it’s just a free iPad my company gave me. No biggie. Want to learn more?”

USANA does a lot of things amaz-ingly well, but there’s one thing we’re the absolute best at: creating a per-sonalized experience for our Associates and Preferred Customers through our products and our busi-ness opportunity. USANA really is all about you. It’s about offering the right products for you. It’s about pro-ducing a multitude of prospecting tools that work for you. It’s about helping you build your business so you can achieve your dreams, what-ever they may be. It’s about making your life better, even if it’s already

pretty great. So the new USANA brand promise should come as no surprise, because it’s simply a state-ment of fact: Everything we do helps you love life and live it™. This prom-ise explains the way this company has always worked. Now, it’s official.

Of course, not everyone will reach their dreams in the same way, because we are all unique. So USANA is working to make things a little better for you, specifically. Our new tagline sums it up nicely: Your Health. Your Life. Your Way. This approach is the future of USANA.

  • 2-Star Diamond Directors Tony and Tammy Daum are no strangers to accolades. They’ve been managing a prosperous USANA business for more than 10 years, fulfilling many of their dreams along the way. But one of their biggest and most desired dreams became a reality at this year’s International Convention.

“I’ve done this a thousand times in my head since I joined this company, because this is my passion,” Tony said emotionally as he and Tammy accepted the highly coveted Dr. Wentz Vision Award. “I am honoured, overwhelmed, and humbled by receiving this award.”

And it’s not only USANA that this couple loves so much. From the beginning, they set out to help people, to change lives. Because Tony and Tammy are all about spreading the love—especially when it comes to Dr. Wentz. “Thank you Dr. Wentz for giving all of us a vehicle to impact the lives of people we may never meet in places we may never go,” Tammy said. “For us, it’s a humbling and incredible experience, and we want to thank you for creating opportunities for all of us to be able to live out our vision, while carrying out yours.”

Tony and Tammy didn’t forget to express their love and gratitude for each other, either. After 25 years of marriage, two children, and one rock-solid USANA business, it was obvious that Tammy truly meant what she said: that sharing just one USANA product with even one person can create a ripple effect of true health that lasts a lifetime.

“We all want to change lives, and we all want to

    impact the world.”

The Dr. Wentz Vision Award honours Associates who endeavour to improve the health and reduce the mental and physical suffering of everyone they meet. The recipient works to make the world a better place

by sharing the vision of Dr. Wentz using every available opportunity to present possible solutions to health problems.

    Dr. WenTz Vision AWArD:

    Tony & TAmmy DAum

From the moment he joined USANA in 2003, Simon Chan’s mission has been to play a positive role in the lives of other people. “I was so excited,” he says. “I had this vision of what I was going to do, and I set out on that mission.” He has been more than successful in helping others through USANA, and he has been reaping the greatest reward for his hard work: free time. He and his wife, Kelly, have used their leisure time to travel all over the world, but the greatest adventure has been raising their young son. “To be able to spend not only quality time, but quantity time with my son, Ethan, is wonderful,” he says.

Simon supports his team and spreads the USANA vision alongside his business partner and co-applicant Scott McGee. “Simon and I take advantage of new technology and tools to ensure we are always providing support and training to our teammates so they can be successful with USANA,” Scott says. They both understand the importance of developing a strong team. As Simon explains: “We know our success depends on sponsoring new people, helping them reach their goals, and developing leaders in new markets.”

With this purpose-driven outlook, it’s no surprise they received the President’s Award at International Convention this year. Simon was overwhelmed with gratitude. As he accepted the award on stage, he exclaimed, “This trophy should be broken into a thousand pieces and given to everyone here.” Then he admitted those pieces wouldn’t be distributed equally: “Half of them should go to Dr. Myron Wentz.”

“We’re so excited for the next 20 years!”

The President’s Award is presented to our Top Growth earner who continually shares the usAnA opportunity of financial freedom with those around him or her. This award recipient demonstrates

the utmost integrity in business dealings, provides unwavering support to his or her organization and others, leads by example, and is an icon of health, financial growth, and personal growth.

Three of a kind. Three’s company. Three-peat. Take your pick of any clichéd saying. But for Rita Hui, the first and only 11-Star Diamond Director in USANA’s 20-year history, winning the Distrib-utor of the Year award at USANA’s International Convention for the third year in a row is anything but cliché.

“USANA has changed my life tremendously in all aspects,” Rita said in accepting her award. “USANA has not only provided me good health and freedom in my career, but it has also given me the precious opportunity to develop myself.”

While presenting the award, Dave Wentz praised Rita for her com-mitment and her continued efforts to spread the USANA vision worldwide. “Your dedication to your business and to your teammates should be recognized and commended,” he said. “Rita, you are truly an amazing person, and we are honoured you have chosen USANA as your path to personal and financial success.”

But, according to Rita, the success she now enjoys didn’t come without hard work and even a few failures. “I have gone through the pain of failure,” she says. “But, I believe in the saying, ‘No pain, no gain.’” For new Associates who might be struggling, she gave words of en-couragement that they too can achieve the success they are searching for. “With your consistent and persistent hard work, you will be suc-cessful, and you will realize that each failure was just a stepping stone on the path to your success.”

So, even though you might not be able to summarize Rita’s stellar rise to success in a single saying, in accepting the 2012 Distributor of the Year award, it is clear that for USANA’s top Distributor, the third time is a charm.

“It’s never been more important and worthwhile to me to spread the true meaning of USANA.”

This award recognizes usAnA’s Top income earner who demonstrates vision and dedication in sharing the message of true health and true wealth. This Associate provides inspiration through his or her example and shows us not only that possibilities do exist, but also the reality of a residual income through a usAnA home-based

business. his or her leadership and commitment to teamwork instill the belief in all of us that we are capable of achieving time and financial freedom most only dream of in life.

YoUr Voice. YoUr iDc.You have each established successful USANA careers in your own way. You live the USANA lifestyle in your own way. And you embody the USANA opportunity—in your own way. With your personal take on true health and true wealth, you have worked hard to build your own entrepreneurial spirit and establish your own exceptional voice.

USANA’s Independent Distributor Councils (IDCs) are specifically designed to allow your voice to be heard. You choose your IDC members to represent your market. Then, they work closely with the Home Office to make your ideas about how to make USANA better come to life.

Camaraderie and eagerness to serve filled the room at USANA’s IDC meetings at International Convention. Each US and Canadian IDC took a few minutes to discuss the upcoming year and honour those who had served the previous year. While different voices spoke and different ideas were shared, one unified decision was made: that the next 12 months are going to be USANA’s best by far—and this is the group that’s going to see that it happens.

Thousands upon thousands of USANA Associates scatter the globe, but each of you is unique.

I think what we are most excited about is being an integral part of such a rock solid 20-year-old company, and we are so looking forward to the next 20. What a privilege it is to serve the field on the IDC and to grow the vision of USANA. My advice to the field: communicate with us and take the initiative to be heard so these next decades are shaped by you.

A s leaders, we must always lead by example.” Powerful words from leaders who know exactly what it means to lead by example. In the last year, Simon Chan, along with his wife, kelly, and their business partner, Scott Mcgee, not only advanced from 1-Star to 3-Star Diamond Directors, but also solidified their membership in the elite Million Dollar Club and were named this year’s President’s Award recipients at International Convention. “USANA is just like life in the sense that it’s a journey,” they say. “We have learned tremendous lessons and have been forced to grow.”

And although they’ve always been motivated to grow their business, they were truly focused on their team during their latest advancement. “If we want our team to advance, we must advance,” Simon stresses. “This sets an example and motivates each individual to push their limits.”

Following an extraordinary International Convention, Scott and Simon are ready to show new prospects what USANA

is all about. “Convention was such an amazing experience, and it is so exciting to stop and really think about all the new lives we are going to be able to change,” they say.

These dynamic leaders see great value in celebrating their own accomplishments in addition to the accomplishments of their teammates, but they also want others to simply understand the USANA promise. “At the end of the day, it’s not money that makes you happy,” says Simon. “It’s the relationships you build and lives you have touched.” Scott agrees. “Once you have the experience of helping someone better their life, it really changes your perspective on things.”

One thing that will never change for Simon, kelly, and Scott is their desire to grow a business at their own pace and their own way. They know that, thanks to USANA, others can truly experience life on their own terms. “Having the time to do whatever we want, when we want? That’s luxury,” they conclude.

$108,000 is the average yearly income for an established, full-time USANA Associate. $35,000 is the annual average of those who earned as little as one commission cheque each month. Total earnings include commissions, Leadership Bonus, Matching Bonus, contests, and incentive compensation. The number of full-time Associates who have maxed at least 1 Business Centre during the year equals less than 1% of all Associates. Those Associates earning as little as one cheque a month and associated with USANA for more than six months equals 3% of all ordering Associates. If you include all 135,590 ordering Associates, which includes: Associates not actively building a business (acting as wholesale buyers), Associates who just joined (as little as one day), and those who are just beginning to build their customer base, the average yearly income is still $873.25 with nearly one in three earning a cheque. To date, USANA has had more than 200 global Associates become lifetime Million Dollar Club members.

Settling into a comfortable life as Diamond Directors seemed just fine for Perry Chong and Rena Nong Ren—at least that’s what these dynamic USANA leaders thought.

But like many USANA Associates, eventually they felt the desire to push their limits and see where their hard work could take them. Now, as members of the growth 100 and the Canadian Independent Distributor Council (IDC), these newly minted 1-Star Diamond Directors are far too busy leading an impressive team to even consider taking it easy.

Helping others succeed has always been one of Perry and Rena’s goals. “Out of all of the jobs we’ve had, USANA is the only one that gives us the chance to help others in terms of health and financial support,” they say. “We used to work for ourselves, and now we work at creating a better world for others.”

Perry and Rena decided to pursue true health and freedom by joining the USANA family in 1999, and one of the first things they learned was the necessity of building strong

leadership within their ranks. “Effective team leaders will have a clear vision of what they want to accomplish as a team, not just as individuals,” they say. “They share responsibilities and admit when there are performance gaps within the team.”

Thanks to their success within USANA, Perry and Rena have experienced the freedom only a USANA business can provide. But they remain committed to developing a strong team so others may experience life on their own terms. “We watched more than 20 members of our team advance to gold Directors following our own advancement to gold in June 2009,” they say. “It makes us very happy to work with each of them and learn from them.”

No matter the level of success, there is always room for growth and improvement. As new members of the Canadian IDC, both Perry and Rena look forward to learning more about how they can improve their own business practices while also serving their fellow Associates.

It’s well known that advancing is hard work, but for kate Northrup Moller, it comes down to how much you trust yourself to succeed. “Belief is far more important than skill,” she says. “Believing in ourselves and our team has grown our business. Confidence, enthusiasm, and belief are infectious.”

kate has built a solid business over the last 11 years, and she knows USANA beats the competition. “I’ve seen other companies cross my path, and I always ask about their science and management teams. I’m usually disappointed by their answers,” she says. “USANA has integrity, quality, and a commitment to excellence.”

kate’s business is more than just about her success—it’s about working with those she loves. “I adore those I work with, especially my boyfriend, Mike Watts,” she says. “I’m incredibly grateful for my sponsors, my aunt and uncle, Penny and Phil kirk, and to my other family members who are in USANA.”

See income disclaimer on page 48.

Helen Bao exemplifies the determination and the strong work ethic it takes to advance within USANA, but she also realizes that part of succeeding means having the attitude that

success is possible. “It’s not as difficult as you might think,” she explains. “You can accomplish your goals, whatever they may be, as long as you stick to them.”

Reaching Ruby Director has been a goal Helen has worked toward since her last advancement, but timing and teamwork also went hand in hand to help her accomplish this latest success.

“My team definitely worked hard and helped me reach this goal. In addition, success requires a positive attitude and patience,” she says.

Helen is proud to represent USANA, and she believes there’s not another company out there that compares. “USANA never compromises on quality,” she says.

The Chai family is a force to be reckoned with. Hoipor Chai watched his three siblings join the USANA family and advance to Ruby, Diamond, and 2-Star Diamond Directors. “I thought, if they can do it, I can do it,” Hoipor says.

Today, Hoipor has come a long way from working 12-hour days at a Chinese restaurant. “I thought if I could spend the same amount of time in a USANA business as I spent at the restaurant, I was sure to succeed,” he adds. By having a crystal clear vision about what he wanted out of his business, he accomplished that goal and advanced to Ruby Director. But Hoipor says he couldn’t have done it without he team. “USANA is a great platform for people who help each other, share their experiences, and spread the ideas of Dr. Wentz,” he concludes.

Vision, combined with passion and consistent action, equals success. It may not be a scientific equation, but it works. Especially for Anna Lozano. Anna used this

formula throughout her team’s recent rank advancement run. “The excitement was high, and massive action was taken each week to successfully complete the team run,” she says.

But Anna understands that her formula doesn’t work with each and every component. And she knows that complacency isn’t good enough. The biggest lesson she’s learned

is that for things to change, you need to change. And Anna has taken that to heart.
