Purpose of Performance Test

• Check the VNA’s performance metsspecifications

–Output power, CW frequency, harmonic distortion, etc.

• Recommended performance test interval is annual

• Automate VNA performance testing

–Ease the process

–Automatic test report generation

Test Content

Intro to VNAPT

• Procedure

1. Connect VNA to PC

2. Launch VNA software, confirm “Ready” status

3. Launch VNAPT

4. Choose the VNA under test, click blue Start button to begin

Required Equipment

• Listed in Performance Test manual

– Mainly: frequency counter, spectrum analyzer, power meter, gages, torque wrenches, calibration kit, and verification kit

– Equipment similar to listed can be used if it satisfies specifications

– NPR-Z51 Thermal Power Sensor is required for automation of output power tests

• Not all VMT VNAs are supported (yet):

–Version 1.4.9.22 of VNAPT supports: Planar 8xx/1, S5048, and “R” family

• VNA COM server must be registered (last step in installer wizard)

– If in doubt, just uninstall/reinstall the VNA program taking care to register the server
