Start at the Library’s homepage: cod.edu/library

Click “Databases”

Page 3: Use Novelist to Find Read-Alikes

On the Library Databases page, click the “Databases By Title” tab

Page 4: Use Novelist to Find Read-Alikes

Scroll down through this alphabetical list until you find “N”

Click the link for “Novelist Plus”

Page 6: Use Novelist to Find Read-Alikes

You will need your COD Library card to access databases from off-campus

Enter your barcode number

and click “Submit”

Page 7: Use Novelist to Find Read-Alikes

To find genre titles in NoveList, use the “Search For” box

Enter the title of the benchmark genre

book and click “Search”

You can find read-alikes from this screen, but let’s try a more general search

Instead of clicking Read-alikes, click the title of the book

There are some read-alikes listed on the right; scroll down to see more options

Use the “Search for More” options to find more books in this genre

Don’t pick too many options!

You want a book from the genre, but not a read-alike

NoveList gives you plenty of suggestions-- feel free to narrow your results!
