Abstract Dr. S.R. Ranganthan a pioneer among the library science and
related education. Libraries play vital role in Educational
Institutions by acting as knowledge centers, information centers and
so on. This research paper is an attempt to identify and examine the
availability of information resources in high ranking management
education institutes in Mumbai and in-depth study the services and
facilities provided by the them.
Introduction
The information resources are an integral part of any library.
Libraries are catalysts and facilitators. Users expectations in today's
world are touching to the sky, we should try to fulfill them.
This present study will assist to know the relevance and implications
of information resources and services and facilities providing in
high ranking management institutes in Mumbai.

Research Gap
Prior research is based on identifying importance of information
available in academic libraries, this research study elaborates
information resources & library facilities available in highly ranked
management institutes in Mumbai.
Objectives of Study
To examine the availability of information resources available in
high ranking Management Institutes in Mumbai.
To study the use of services and facilities which are provided by
High Ranking Management Institutes Libraries in Mumbai
Hypothesis for the study
There is a significant relation between ranked institute and
resources available.
Majority of libraries provide services and facilities in high
ranking management institute in Mumbai.
Research Methodology
The researcher has used the descriptive method in the present
study. The primary data collected through interview and
observation techniques by a personal visit to the high ranking
management institute. The secondary source of data collection
includes journals articles, books, conference proceedings, thesis
annual reports and internet. A well designed questionnaire based
on the personal information, libraries usages, sources of
information, library services, facilities, digitization etc.

(37%) libraries have more than 1 crore budget & above
budget provision for current financial year i.e. 2016-2017.
2(25%) libraries have below 25 lakhs annual budget.
1(12.5%) library has 51-60 lakh rupees budget and another
1(12.5%) is having 61-70 lakh rupees annual budget. 1
(12.5%) library is not given response for this question. As
per above observation libraries budget provision is very
good and it is a positive sign for library.

Equipments available in
libraries All 8(100%) libraries have Computers, printers,
server and Xerox machine. It is found that 7(87%)
libraries have scanners, as well bar code reader. And
also have bar code printer. It is observed that
majority of libraries fulfill all the requirement of
equipments.

computerized in cataloging and indexing. 5(62%) libraries fully computerized in
Acquisitions, 8(100%) libraries have OPAC and web OPAC system. 3(37%) are
computerized in serial control. 2(37%) of libraries are computerized in reference and stock
verification. And 1(12%) library is computerized in CAS, other series levels SDI. It is
observed that majority libraries have computerized in the level of circulation, cataloguing ,
indexing, OPAC and Web OPAC

indexing and abstracting service. 37% libraries publish their newsletters.

Main findings Around 38% high ranking management institutes are government aided. While 38% are unaided. 87% high ranking management institutes are accredited by NBA. 13% is under process of NBA in academic year 2016-2017

It is found that there is regular use of libraries by the management students
In the high ranking institutes 25% have separate library building.

Budget is very important for providing better services to users. It is observed that 37% libraries have a budget more than 1 crore. It is very good for building up library information resources and services.
All 100% libraries conduct orientation programs and 75% are conducting user survey
