User Acceptance Testing & Data Migration

ADM Headquarters, 28 April 2016

The realisation phase is a very important stage where information flow and communica-tion to the employees of ADM is very crucial to ensure that there is understanding on the role changes that will happen once go-live is reached as well as unpack the processes involved towards reaching the last stage.

How would the SAP implementation team and Business Process Owners, Super Users ensure that that system works properly before it is released to ADM for use?

Most of the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) are completed. This is where Business Pro-cess Owners and Super Users physically tested the new system with the assistance of the SAP Functional Team Leads. Due to practical reasons it is not possible to involve all fu-ture users at this stage to take part, hence the decision on using Business Process Own-ers and Super Users. There were a few end users involved as requested by Business Pro-cess Owners.

User Acceptance Testing is not replacing training on the system. The training of Business Process Owners, Super Users and other users is still in preparation. The future users or end users will have formal class room training from mid May 2016.

Why is Data Migration so important and why is it taking so much time?

The daily operations of ADM cannot stop because services to customers are the core reason for existence. No system can work if there is no data loaded to the system. The role of Data Migration is to ensure that all the data stored on current systems is trans-ferred to the new system so that when the system is switched on, clients should be ser-viced as business as usual.

It is a challenging task to pack, move and unpack data from current system to new sys-tem. The people involved with the preparation of data is working very hard. Therefore it is important that we support and assist the process and our fellow colleagues.
