Boardshare User Manual
OverviewBoardShareTM is a portable white boarding tool for interactivity and collaboration on any surface. With BoardShareTM you also can control your PC from any projection surface allowing you to create, capture and collaborate.
NOTE: Before using BoardShareTM for the first time, be sure to review the important safety information and follow the appropriate installation and usability instructions to ensure you have a positive and productive experience.
When you connect BoardShareTM to your personal computer and projector or LCD TV you can:• Create: Annotate on existing presentation or digitally create fresh new
ideas.• Capture: Save your notes or designs so you can share them by email
or print.• Collaborate: Using web conferencing software you can enable remote
teams to add or change the content being presented so they can participate interactively
Basics about the HardwareThe Camera BaseThe camera is designed to sit on a table top, facing the projection surface.
The camera contains an IR sensor, and it is necessary that the camera has a clear line of sight with the pen.
Camera Base Basic Guidelines1. Raise the camera telescope to help clear any obstructions.2. Follow the calibration instructions. 3. Gently move the camera arm up or down, forward or backward in
order to align the laser light to the center of the projection center.4. Keep the camera away from any source of infrared, such as heat (from
projector), intense light or even low hanging light fixtures.
The PenThe pen communicates with the camera base through infrared technology (IR). IR technology requires that both the pen and the camera base have a clear line of sight so that the communication is not interrupted.
The IR emitter on the pen is located at the top of the pen Holding the pen as recommended, in the instructions, in the appropriate position not only
5
Boardshare User Manual
ensures that the IR emitter is unobstructed but it also ensures that you have an ergonomic and comfortable writing experience.
The pen tip is made from durable plastic material. The wear of the pen tip depends on the hardness and abrasiveness of the writing surface being used.Use with non-abrasive surfaces, such as a dry erase board, to extend the life of the pen tip.
Safety InformationThe BoardShareTM camera unit is equipped with a Class 2 laser, similar to those used for laser pointers, to help you calibrate the camera arm with the display surface.
The low-power visible laser emits radiant power below 1 mW.
Although the human aversion reaction to bright light (the blink reflex) will protect you from radiation, you should avoid looking directly into the laser and avoid pointing the laser at other people.
