data into radio signals through an antenna, a wireless router than receives the signal and decodes the information. The router then using a physical connection sends the information to the internet through a wired Ethernet connection.

How it worksWi-Fi radio s have a slight

difference to other radio’s, Wi-Fi radio’s transmit frequencies of 2.4 GHz or 5GHz, a considerable high frequency than that used by cell phones or television radio waves. The reason being the higher the frequency the more data can be carried by the signal.

implementing wireless local area network computer communication in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency band.

These standards were made and are maintained by the (IEEE 802) standard committee. These standards provide the base for wireless network products using the Wi-Fi band name.
