If You Could See Where I Have Gone
If you could see where I have gone. The beauty of this place and how it feels to know you’re home. To
see the Savior’s face. To wake in peace, and know no fear, just joy beyond compare while still on earth
you miss me yet, you wouldn’t want me there if you could see where I have gone.
If you could see where I have gone, and make the trip with me, you’d know I didn’t go alone. The
Savior came with me. When I awoke, He was by my side and reached down his hand, said, “Hurry
Sidney you’re going home,” to a grand and glorious land. Don’t worry over those you love, for I’m not
just with you, and don’t you know with you at home, they’ ll be here too?
If you could see where I have gone and see what I’ve been shown you’d never know another fear or
ever fell alone. You’d marvel at the care of God, His hand on every life and realize He really cares
and bears with us each strife, and that he weeps when one is lost. His heart is filled with pain, but oh!
the joy! When one comes home a child at home again.
If you could see where I have gone, could stay awhile with me could share the things that God has
made, to grace eternity. But no, you couldn’t bear to walk earth’s paths once Heaven was your home.
If you could see where I have gone, you’d know we’ ll meet someday and though I’m parted from you
know, that I am just away. So, children, and friends, don’t be sad, just live and trust in God along
life’s way. And remember I’m waiting at Heaven’s door to greet you some sweet day.
Sidney Lee Reeves, Jr.“Our Family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by
one the chain will link again.”
To My Beloved Husband Sidney, You were so much more than my husband. If I could have endured your pain, I would have
done that gladly. As I sit quietly reflecting for a while, imagining your voice, your face, and your
laughter, I can’t help but smile through my tears. My wish is that I would give up the entire world
today just for one more hour with you. I will never forget you and will always love you.
Good night My Darling Sidney, I will see you in the morning.
Your Soulmate and Best Friend, Janet
BrotherB is for beloved, my brother is to me
R is for radiant; a true friend is he
O is for outgoing, his charm, debonair
T is for touching, memories we share
H is heroic, especially in my eyes
E exuberant, there is no disguise
R is for reliable, so steadfast and tall
My “Brother” is too me the very best of all.
I will miss you, Sidney.
Love, Dale (Chubby)
An Eternal Memory of a Much Loved SonThis is for someone wonderful as loved as one could be for you were everything in life you meant the
world, you see. And sometimes life can be unkind when hearts are torn in two, but nothing ever could
compare to the pain of losing you. But all the love you left behind, forever will live on, and so until
we meet again, rest peacefully, dear son.
Love Mama
Life’s Reflect ionsSidney Lee Reeves, Jr.
Without warning, death plucked a flower from our garden on June 7, 2018, and Sidney Lee Reeves, Jr.’s soul was laid to rest.
Sidney was born on October 27, 1959 to the parentage of Sidney Lee Reeves, Sr. and Delores Reeves. Later in his life, his mother met and married James Ellis who raised Sidney as his own. Sidney received his education in the Dallas Independent School District, graduating from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in 1978.
Sidney was employed by LTV/Vought, Quaker Oats, and Sterlite which was his last place of employment after he became disabled.
Sidney accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church in 2004. He served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee, he worked in the Children’s Church, and as one of the church’s recording clerks.
Sidney had an outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. If you were hungry, Sidney would feed you, if you didn’t have any clothes, Sidney would give you clothes. He was just that kind of person. He had an abundance of friends and they all thought highly of him. His hobbies included playing dominoes, playing football on his PlayStation, watching westerns and cooking. He was famous for his skills on the grill and known best for his delicious peach cobbler.
In 2005, Sidney met the love of his life, Janet Darlene Holmes and they were united in holy matrimony on July 22, 2006. At that time, her children became his children, creating one big happy family. Their life together was blissful, creating memories that would last until the Lord called Sidney home.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Janet D. Reeves; mother, Delores Ellis; father, Sidney Lee Reeves, Sr.; two brothers, Cleathon Ellis, and Kenneth Johnson; one sister, Cynthia Owens; children, Christy Williams and DJ Williams, (Becky); grandchildren, Phillip Williams, Kiara Morris (Chris), and Unique Heath; great-grandchildren, Cameron White, Na’Riah Morris, Khy’Rie Wallace, and Julian Williams; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Mondy, Mary Jackson, Carolyn Horton (Frank), and Ruth Bessard (Joe); one brother-in-law, George Fields; his god-parents, Joe and Juanzelle Brantley; special mother, Mrs. Betty Hill;, his god-daughter, Kailen White; his god-son, Jaedyn Rowen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Sidney was preceded in death by his step-father, James Ellis; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Glover; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie James Reeves; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
