- An article of less than 2,500 words- For works over 2,500 words, an excerpt of not more than
1,000 words or 10% of the length of the item- A single chart, graph, diagram, drawing or cartoon

• Allows exemptions from DMCA for the use of copyrighted materials in distance education
Exemptions DO NOT INCLUDE:• Electronic reserves or coursepacks• Textbooks• Works converted to digital format unless a digital
version does not exist
