With the introduction of version 50 of GV STRATUS Grass Valley a Belden Brand gives users the option of using the popular Contour ShuttlePRO v2 controller with the GV STRATUS Video Production amp Content Management System
ShuttlePRO can be used to control the GV STRATUS Inspector player and with the Source Viewer within the Advanced Logging Segmentation and Channel Panel tools
Controlling GV STRATUS Tools with ShuttlePROGV STRATUS supports the use of ShuttlePRO Controller with the Source Viewer and Inspector
Any commands you send using the ShuttlePRO Controller will apply to the currently active panel or window which is considered to have focus To control a player the user will need to ensure that window has focus by clicking within it A properly configured ShuttlePRO will allow the user to perform tasks such as navigating through a clip (with Jog and Shuttle) inserting Markers and Keywords creating sub clips or trimming a clip
A list of keyboard shortcuts available for user with the Inspector and Source Viewer are available in the GV STRATUS manual (Topic Library) customers can access this via wwwgrassvalleycom
In the next section we explain how to configure the ShuttlePRO and provide some useful suggested key combinations for the majority of customer use cases
Configuring the Contour ShuttlePRO for GV STRATUSIn order to control GV STRATUS with the ShuttlePRO users must first program their ShuttlePRO controller which involves installing the Con-tour drivers The driver installer package is available from the Contour website (httpwwwcontourdesigncomUSproductshuttlepro-v2) Drivers are available for Windows PCs and Macs
Once installed connect the ShuttlePRO to a USB port on the comput-er allow the driver to be recognized and then run the Contour control panel which will open to show the connected device

Create a Preset for the GV STRATUS Application
To use the ShuttlePRO with GV STRATUS you will need to create an Application setting for GV STRATUS Within the settings management section click the lsquoOptionsrsquo button then select Create new settings gt Create Empty Settings
The software will ask you to identify the application exe file to which the settings apply Locate the STRATUSexe application on your PC (in-stalled by default within cProgram FilesGrass ValleySTRATUS on a 64 bit PC)
Click lsquoOpenrsquo to associate the STRATUSexe application with commands from the new ShuttlePRO preset There will now be a new Application setting in the ShuttlePRO control panel

Configure the Preset for GV STRATUS Commands
The JogShuttle control and each button on the ShuttlePRO can be configured with a keyboard shortcut or macro to define commands to con-trol the GV STRATUS application Customers can decide what particular control layout they require on the physical buttons and then program them using the contour control panel
As each button (or jogshuttle position) is selected the control panel will allow a keyboard shortcut to be applied to it
1 Push the required button (or select the jogshuttle position) to program
2 Select lsquoType Keystrokersquo from the lsquoComputer Responsersquo menu
3 Enter the keyboard shortcut
4 Click Apply
5 Repeat for the next buttoncontrol
Export a Preset
At the end of the process the Settings can be exported for use on another machine or to provide a backup of the settings
1 In Settings management select Options
2 Click lsquoExport settingsrsquo
3 Save the settings file to a suitable location

Configure the Preset for GV STRATUS Commands
The JogShuttle control and each button on the ShuttlePRO can be configured with a keyboard shortcut or macro to define commands to con-trol the GV STRATUS application Customers can decide what particular control layout they require on the physical buttons and then program them using the contour control panel
As each button (or jogshuttle position) is selected the control panel will allow a keyboard shortcut to be applied to it
1 Push the required button (or select the jogshuttle position) to program
2 Select lsquoType Keystrokersquo from the lsquoComputer Responsersquo menu
3 Enter the keyboard shortcut
4 Click Apply
5 Repeat for the next buttoncontrol
Export a Preset
At the end of the process the Settings can be exported for use on another machine or to provide a backup of the settings
1 In Settings management select Options
2 Click lsquoExport settingsrsquo
3 Save the settings file to a suitable location
