THE DIGITAL WORLD WE LIVE IN.

DIGITALISATION IMPACTS ALL AREAS OF OUR DAILY LIVES, AND ALSO MARKS THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA FOR THE LIGHTING WORLD.

As experts in the field of state-of-the-art lighting, we have arrived in the digital world. Following its rapid development over the last few years, LED technology can now claim to be highly energy- efficient and deliver excellent quality light. Added to that is the huge advantage that it is controllable. Digital light today enables us to adjust the lighting in a space to meet a wide range of different needs – achieving intelligent solutions, based on our in-depth know-how and expertise, and in close collaboration with lighting designers and electrical engineers, architects, installers and end users.

Digitalisation is fast impacting all areas of our daily lives, and also marks the dawn of a new era for light. Intelligent lighting solutions will in future play a key role in the “Internet of Things”, offering unexpected advantages and enhancing the quality of life. The controllability of LED technology offers tremendous potential that is waiting to be exploited.

Regent already has a wealth of knowledge in the fields of lighting technology, optics, electronics, software plus significant project experience. And we are continuing to expand our know-how so we are able to handle complex system integration and networking even more competently and confidently. We are open to new ways of thinking, which includes the develop-ment of new business models. As a company we are large enough to be able to master such challenges and small enough to be able to grasp situations and act fast.

All our decisions, developments and applications are based on our belief that it is the user who should be controlling the lighting technology and not the technology controlling the user. With our intuitively operable products and intelligent solutions we are able to put the right light in the right place at the right time. Today and in the future.

WHERE LIGHT IMPACTS OUR SENSE OF WELL-BEING. LIGHT ADJUSTED TO HUMAN NEEDS AND TO ALIGN WITH DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS.

SPECIFIC BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES IN HUMAN BEINGS ARE DEPENDENT ON OUR SPENDING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME OUTDOORS. CHANGING DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS PLAY A KEY ROLE AND INFLUENCE OUR HEALTH AND FEELING OF WELL-BEING.

But many of us spend the majority of their time indoors. Lighting that is programmed to change to meet human needs helps create a personalised atmosphere and increases our feeling of well-being.

The best light for us humans is daylight. Daylight is dynamic, in a constant state of change. It impacts our feeling of well-being, our ability to concentrate, and how tired or energetic we feel – our overall mental state. Now that it is possible to continuously adjust the colour temperature of the light source, artificial light can also be dynamic. And the lighting can be set to accommodate individual preferences. Simulated daylight conditions can be pre-set to run automatically. Or the user can set the colour temperature to suit his/her individual needs. This is of benefit to young and old in a wide variety of situations – in offices or schools, in hospitals or care homes.

BETHESDA MATERNITY CLINIC. BIOLOGICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY EFFECTIVE LIGHT.

Thanks to its innovative, custom-designed lighting concept the maternity clinic at Bethesda Hospital in Basle has become a trendsetter on the Swiss healthcare scene. On the basis of findings related to the biological effect of light, which supports our circadian rhythm, colour temperatures and light levels are programmed to align with changing daylight conditions over the course of the day: from a cooler 5400 Kelvin around midday to a warm 2700 Kelvin in the evening.

The dynamic lighting is also aligned to the daily hospital routine and helps families recovering from the birth. To achieve a sense of well-being and welcome the designers opted for the Torino LED luminaire (design by Andreas Tobler), which features organic formal language and delivers harmonious light distribution while also ensuring the ceiling is well illuminated.

HUMAN CENTRIC LIGHTING. LED SOLUTIONS MAKE IT POSSIBLE.

LED luminaires equipped with Tunable White technology offer the possibility to continuously adjust the colour temperature from warm white to cool white light. Tunable White in combination with Mylights remote or Dali enables illuminance and colour temperature to be controlled individually.

The following luminaires can be equipped with Tunable White technology to meet the needs of the projects:

Regent enables the user to make any adjusments to the indirect/direct light component on an individual basis. It is also possible to configure the lighting to simulate daylight over the course of the day.

WHERE LIGHT PROMOTES INDIVIDUALISATION. INDIVIDUALISED LIGHT SETTINGS WHEREVER YOU ARE.

INDIVIDUALISATION IS A MAJOR TREND AND AFFECTS PRACTICALLY EVERY SPHERE OF OUR LIFE TODAY. INDIVIDUALISED LIGHT WILL PLAY AN INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE PROFESSIONAL SECTOR IN FUTURE.

Modern office concepts where there are no fixed workplaces require individu-alised lighting solutions because everyone has his/her opinion of what ideal lighting is: depending on age and personal preferences, people’s requirements and expectations may differ greatly. Even free-standing luminaires positioned next to desks that are adjustable in height should be able to be aligned to the respective level of the working plane in order to fulfil the needs of the person working there.

Mylights technology focuses totally on the person at the workplace. Mylights forms the basis for the development of innovative technologies that meet the demands of the modern workplace. To date we have developed Mylights remote, which enables the user to control the lighting individually via smart-phone or tablet, Mylights adapt for desks that are adjustable in height, and Mylights finder, which enables preferred light settings to be saved. The workplace thus becomes your own individually designed personal space. All three technolo-gies have been applied successfully in a wide range of projects.

REGENT LIGHTING. INDIVIDUALISED LIGHT IN OPEN-PLAN OFFICES.

Although the lighting layout was clearly structured for minimum visual impact, the company expressly wanted the lighting solution to offer a certain degree of flexibility. The luminaires positioned above the respective workplaces were to be individually controllable in order to be able to respond to individual needs. Each luminaire is equipped with an integral wireless module that enables lighting control using Mylights technology.

Fixed settings for each row of luminaires guarantee optimum ambient lighting. The luminous intensity setting for the luminaires installed near the glazed facades is not as high as for those mounted deeper in the space. Using his smartphone with a Mylights remote user interface every office worker can adjust the light to meet his/her needs at the workplace depending on the time of day.

MYLIGHTS FINDER. WHEN YOU ARE FREE TO SELECT YOUR WORKPLACE.

Digitisation is opening up enormous scope for new applications for individualising lighting concepts. At workplaces in open-plan offices with luminaires equipped with Mylights finder office workers can save their preferred light settings using a smartphone app. The respective luminaire adopts the setting automatically (via Bluetooth). Whichever workplace the office worker opts for, the lighting will be set to meet his/her individual requirements. Local control of the luminaire is also possible via smartphone.

MYLIGHTS REMOTE. INTELLIGENT CONTROL MADE EASY.

Thanks to the wireless module and an app Mylights remote enables you to control or dim the lighting, or create the atmosphere required, using your smartphone or tablet. All completely intuitively. The luminaires connect with one another automatically via Bluetooth – very straight-forward and without the need for additional wiring.

ALONE at WORK® NETWORKED VIA OPTO ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY.

Regent have succeeded in applying efficiency-enhancing ALONE at WORK® technology to network luminaires in open-plan office environments via optoelectronic communication technology, without emitting any harmful radiation. The “cloud of light” generated by a group of intelligent lumi-naires supports concentration and well-being, and creates a pleasant atmosphere in the space.

The ALONE at WORK® iPad app explains the complex technology in an interactive fashion and in simple terms. App Download: www.regent.ch/app-aloneatwork

Open-plan office with ALONE at WORK® Networked luminaires in close proximity to one another communicate and switch on and off as required. Solitary pools of light are replaced by a “cloud of light” that promotes a pleasant atmosphere.

Open-plan office without ALONE at WORK® A workplace in an open-plan office illuminated by means of one free- standing luminaire is reduced to a solitary pool of light after dark.

RELOCATE LUMINAIRES WITHOUT HAVING TO REPROGRAMThe technology is also geared to cope with changes in spatial layouts. Luminaires repositioned within the space adjust to new alignments automatically without having to be reprogrammed.

As darkness falls at the close of the day, workstations still occupied in open-plan offices turn into solitary pools of light. The transition from light to dark is abrupt and staff find it harder to concen-trate. ALONE at WORK® dissolves these harsh transitions. All on its own, with optimised energy input, and without you having to reset or reprogram anything. You can even reposition the luminaires at any time. And specific luminaires can be retrofitted with ALONE at WORK® optoelectronic communications technology, if required.

VODAFONE CAMPUS. CLOUDS OF LIGHT FOR OFFICE LANDSCAPES.

At the Vodafone Campus in Düsseldorf a network of 2300 free-standing luminaires deliver ergonomic, energy-efficient and highly flexible office lighting – with no need for costly programming. During the planning process the focus was on the well-being of the employees, who are free to schedule their working hours to suit themselves. The idea was to provide a pleasant working atmosphere even in the hours after dark so individuals do not end up sitting at a desk in an isolated pool of light.

Harsh contrasts between light and dark, which can lead to eyestrain, were to be avoided. For this reason, all free-stand-ing luminaires within visual range are networked by means of wireless communication. With ALONE at WORK® they offer staff optimum lighting conditions and illuminance levels that conform to the standards.

AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR YEAR, AND IN MANY COMPANIES AROUND THE CLOCK: OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE CAN ONLY BE ATTAINED UNDER OPTIMUM LIGHTING CONDITIONS.

Innovative lighting solutions for modern office workplaces are expected to meet stringent requirements when it comes to ergo nomics, flexibility and energy efficien-cy. Preferably by simply networking the luminaires in the space. With the goal of achieving enhanced visual comfort by reducing the contrast ratio between light and dark.

TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS MEANS BEING ABLE TO ACHIEVE HIGHER PERFORMANCE WHILE CONSUMING LESS ENERGY.

The goal of state-of-the-art smart technologies must be to increase efficiency without losing on lighting quality. In short: enhanced performance, enhanced quality, and reduced energy consumption.

The latest version of SensoDim has been optimised to better fulfil user requirements and to ensure safer operation. The follow-up time can be configured as required on site. Due to the ongoing miniaturisation of electronic components the new generation of SensoDim will practically disappear inside the luminaire housing. Without compromising on functionality.

WHERE LIGHT INCREASES EFFICIENCY. THE SAME LIGHT USING LESS ENERGY.

SENSODIM. INTELLIGENT DAYLIGHT CONTROL.

Free-standing luminaires equipped with SensoDim daylight sensors make for enhanced energy efficiency. When an office worker leaves the area of coverage the brightness level automatically dims slowly before the light switches off completely. As soon as another person enters the area of coverage, the luminaire switches on again.

In addition to automatic operation the free-standing luminaire can also be operated manually by pressing the button.

1. Person is detected in the area of coverage: light switches on 2. Person leaves the area of coverage: light remains switched on

for the duration of the set follow-up time3. At the end of the follow-up time: light level is reduced

and finally switches off 4. Light ON: press the button5. Light OFF: press the button

WHAT PLEASES THE EYE ATTRACTS OUR ATTENTION. COLOURS AND SHAPES AFFECT US EMOTIONALLY.

This applies as much to a product display as to an art exhibition and in both areas of application we appreciate authenticity – colour rendering that is true to nature. A garment on display in a store must look as attractive as it would do under daylight. And in the case of modern museums and galleries we expect the art to be presented under the best possible lighting conditions – without subjecting sensitive works of art to UV radiation or heat.

WHERE LIGHT SETS THE SCENE. PRESENTING ART AND ARTICLES IN THE BEST POSSIBLE LIGHT.

DOMQUARTIER IN SALZBURG. LIGHTING TO ENHANCE THE NEW GALLERY SPACES.

The northern oratory of Salzburg Cathedral is part of the new “DomQuartier” in the heart of Salzburg and has been redesigned to cater for temporary exhibitions.

A key feature of the realised solution is a ring-shaped track with a diameter of six metres. The integrated indirect LED lighting is dimmable via a DALI interface. In addition, the colour temperature can be adjusted from 2500 through 6500 Kelvin. The spotlights can be positioned on the ring as required, allowing for individual adjustment.

The spotlights, equipped with PAL+ technology, also enable the colour temperature to be set flexibly between 2500 and 6500 Kelvin. Adjusting the quantity of light and colour temperature ensures that the exhibited works are viewed under the best possible lighting conditions.

That is why PAL+ is used for challenging applications, such as in museums, for the illumination of fresh groceries and for colour-intensive non-food products. The colour temperature can be adjusted from 2500 to 6500 Kelvin at a CRI of up to 94. PAL+ guarantees that colour rendering and colour temperature remain constant in the dimming range between 100 to 20 %. Dynamic or static lighting scenarios can be programmed using DALI control.

PAL+ CONSISTENT COLOUR RECOGNITION.

When colours, colour temperature and light fastness play a key role, the in-house developed PAL+ technology (Perception Adaptive Lightsource) from Regent is the right choice.

This technology produces light that is in line with human colour perception, and therefore guarantees consistent colour recognition. The true white LEDs applied have a daylight-quality colour spectrum and meet the highest demands as regards UV-free light emissions with low heat build-up.

IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ART TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE LIGHT EXACTLY WHERE IT IS NEEDED.

It is only possible to exploit the potential of the LED to the full when light source, housing and optical system are considered to be parts of a single unit. Only when all three elements are finely tuned to fit together can the luminaire be applied in a lighting design project and truly contribute towards reducing operating costs. The result: optimum beam angle and light distribution for the respective application plus maximum benefits when it comes to efficiency.

At Regent we were quick to recognise the signifiance of this whole issue and have taken the steps necessary to ensure we can offer the relevant expertise. We regard this as essential in order to be able to exploit the technical potential of the LED to the full, now and in the future.

WHERE LIGHT IS OPTIMISED. LIGHT WHERE IT IS NEEDED.

SWISS TOP STATION. QUALITY AND RELIABILITY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.

It is a special challenge to provide the optimum lighting for buildings and structures where work is carried out close by under adverse or severe weather conditions. The luminaires not only have to be protected against wind, rain and snow. They also have to ensure they deliver the best possible lighting in order to guarantee occupational safety. Sophisti-cated optical systems developed in-house by Regent play a key role in fulfilling the latter. Combined with specialist know-how and project experience.

ENGINEERED TO PERFECTION. LED THROUGH AND THROUGH.

Square Optics form the core of Dime, the first luminaire to exploit the potential of the LED to the full. The uncom-promising application of this cutting-edge technology is not only reflected in the design of the luminaire, but also in its impressive efficiency ratings and lighting quality.

SQUARE OPTICS. DIRECT AND PLANAR LIGHTING FROM ONE SOURCE.

No disturbing scallops across the wall surfaces. No mulitple shadows on the working plane. No lighting overlaps. Just perfect vertical illumination and a new look and feel for the space. All thanks to the innovative Square Optics technology developed by Regent.

Each of the light-emitting diodes is fitted with its own lens to allow precise control of the light. Light loss is reduced to a minimum. The lens focusses the light by means of total internal reflection, minimising light loss and maximising luminous efficacy. The square form of the luminaire delivers square light distribution, enabling energy-optimised lighting pursuant to the standards.

LED OPTIMISING OPTICS. BEAM ANGLES TO SUIT THE RESPECTIVE APPLICATION.

Production facilities, retail spaces, multi-storey car parks or warehouses – in order to be able to provide you with perfect LED lighting with all its advantages, we have worked intensively on both the LED technology itself and the optical systems it requires and allows. The development of special LED lens optics directs the light emitted by the light source to exactly where you need it in the space, depending on the application. With very low light loss and optimum efficiency.

LED Optimising Optics takes this a step further. What at first glance appears to be one and the same lens is actually very different when it comes to beam angle. This forms the core of the Traq row lighting system. High efficiency ratings, uniform lighting and quality colour rendering are the result. Four different beam angles designed to meet the requirements of different applications guarantee the optimum lighting solution for your specific space or environment. The lens design ensures perfect glare control.

The products for sale in home depots also need to be lit adequately. Not only to enhance the product displays. Luminaires mounted high in the space are required to deliver a certain level of brightness, but must not give rise to disturbing glare. The light needs to be focussed onto where it is needed – on the displays.

LED Optimising Optics guarantee the optimum illumination of the shelves in the store even when mounted at significant heights. Further applications using the same optics but with different beam angles can be found at the checkout and in the restaurant area.

AXA SUPERBLOCK.HIGH EFFICIENCY WELL CONCEALED.

The brief for the lighting in the in-house canteen was to create an atmosphere that would appeal to all office workers. The luminaire applied has become a functional design element and fulfils a diverse range of tasks. On the one hand, illuminating the food to look fresh and appetising, provid-ing lighting for orientation within the space, and generat-ing a friendly, inviting atmosphere. Coupled with increased efficiency. The perfect symbiosis of luminaire and APD tech nology provides optimum lighting and enhances efficiency into the bargain.

APD.HIGH EFFICIENCY THANKS TO DIFFUSOR+REFLECTOR TECHNOLOGY.

Efficiency has become a magic word. The innovative use of energy-saving LED technology goes a long way towards achieving this. But we were not content with just that and set out to find new ways of optimising the technologies we currently use. The research and development team at Regent have now succeeded in significantly increasing the efficiency values of specific profile luminaires using specially developed APD (Added Performance Diffusor) technology.

APD reflector technology brings together what belongs together: the diffusor and the reflector. All that is required to direct and diffuse the light is just one single element. And it can increase the efficiency of Channel LED and Slash 2 luminaires by 40 per cent.

WHERE LIGHT PROMOTES COMMUNICATION. LIGHT SOURCES THAT ENABLE DATA COLLECTION.

Modern shared-office concepts where office workers are free to select their workplace on a daily basis can be highly beneficial for the employer. Especially when he/she has access to data regarding workspace occupancy and the utilisation of workplaces. Light Hub comprises an intelligent infrastructure that enables the assessment of capacity utilisation at workstations and energy consumption. Data saved in the Regent (or customer’s own) Cloud can be evaluated and serve as a basis for increasing efficiency in a building through the optimum use of resources.

LIGHT HUB. TURNING BUILDINGS INTO SMART BUILDINGS.

Every space disposes over at least one light source which is connected to an energy grid. Luminaires are therefore highly suitable for serving as an ideal comprehensive data management and communications infrastructure in a building. Using integral sensors and without significant further investment, coupled with the fact that the power supply is guaranteed via the luminaire, non-personal data can be collected in real-time. In the mobile work environment many office work-places are not used on a continuous basis. By assessing capacity utilisation, the number of workplaces actually required can be optimised and costs saved.

Free-standing luminaires are ideal for Light Hub applications, especially the innovative Lightpad, since then every desk or workplace has its own dedicated luminaire head with incorporated sensor technology.

The creation of a so-called heat map provides a quick overview plus analysable data from which valuable conclusions can be drawn.
