NEWS WEBSITES IN LANGUAGE CLASSROOMS
Online news websites allow us to bring authentic language to the classroom.
Media makes language learning more meaningful and exciting.
Language learners can short-cut the process of acquiring competence in the target language(Stevens,1993).
ADVANTAGES:
DISADVANTAGES:
There is a gap between the literature on the use of computers and technology for teaching purposes and the implementation in EFL contexts.
Technical and financial problems, such as: long waiting time to access information and costs related to the acquisition of infrastructure: “computers, programs, training, telephone lines, and other expenses”
Lack of training and familiarity with computers and the internet on the part of both learners and teachers.

REFLECTIONS
1. Computers and the internet are so widespread today that one feels outdated if not using them.
2. All types of technology are instruments for assisting the teacher.
3. Some students feel more comfortable with technology than the teacher.
Do not feel threatened. Instead, ask the experts “the students”, to serve as teacher assistants.
4. The computer system is more than the monitor, the mouse, and the keyboard:
It also includes the printer, speakers, headphones, microphone, digital camera, etc.
5. Computer technology contains the components necessary for addressing the learning style of students:
Visual, oral, auditor, and kinesthetic.
6. Media appliances enable the teacher to address the four components of language:
Reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
7. Change is challenging but healthy.
REFLECTIONS
Would it be possible in the future to replace teachers with technology?
A final question
