Company Brands & Products

What brands and products need to be listed in your Marketplace 2.0 profile

• All brands showing a claim related to the RainforestAlliance certification need to be added to your listof brands in the Organization Profile section.

• All products being sold as containing a RainforestAlliance Certified™ crop, whether or not they bearthe RAC seal. For example, cocoa butter that doesnot bear the seal but is sold as Rainforest AllianceCertified™.

Why should brands and products be registered?

To simplify the trademark approval process.

To help keep records and reporting accurate for your company and the Rainforest Alliance.

Please note that registering brands and products is requiredbefore sending materials for trademarks approval.

Entering brands in your Marketplace 2.0 profile

1. Under the Organization Profile section, click on Brands.

2. Click on the Add Brand button.

Once on this screen, fill in all required fields, which are marked by an asterisk, and clicksave to add a brand.

This process needs to be performed for each of your company’s brands bearing a claimrelated to the Rainforest Alliance.

Entering products in your Marketplace 2.0 profile

1. Under Organization Profile, go to the Output Products section.

By clicking the New button, you will be brought to this screen.  Enter informationon all required fields.

You will note the Labelling information section. These fields make reference toproducts that are sold to retailers, restaurants, or other B2B relations.

Click the Save button to finish the process.

Copying product records

When opening the product records you will have the ability to copy itsinformation. This is especially useful when entering several products on yourorganization’s profile.

After clicking on the Copy, a pre‐populated form will open.

Product Sold Overview

To review your list of products / Output Product Overview, simply click onOutput Products. You can open the product description by clicking on theproduct’s name.

Within the product’s description you can scroll down to the Trademarks Approvalssection and view which requests have been approved for that product.

Basic principles

• In agriculture, the seal may only be used to promote RainforestAlliance Certified™ farms or products coming from these.

• The use of the seal must be credible, as described in theguidelines and interpreted by Rainforest Alliance.

• All claims must be true and backed by evidence or the SANStandard criteria.

• Having a brand and a product registered in Marketplace 2.0

• Demonstrate traceability of the product or ingredient beingclaimed as Rainforest Alliance Certified™

How to request trademark approval throughMarketplace 2.0

1. Go to the Trademarks section and click on Trademarks Approval.  

2. Click on the New button to initiate the process.

Fill in all required fields.

You will have the option of entering more than one email address. This isconvenient if you want more people in your organization to be aware of the use ofseal approval process.

All email addresses entered will receive notifications regarding the approvalprocess.

Click on the Upload File, choose the file and make sure the file name appears on the screen (in red).This will indicate the file has been uploaded. You may only send one file per request.

Click to complete your use of seal approval request. Or, you can also click

to continue the approval process later.

Copying requests

If you would like to copy the information from an old request ‐ or one you justcompleted ‐ simply click on the Trademarks section to display the Approval RequestOverview. Once on this overview, open the request you want to copy theinformation from (by clicking on it).

Copying requests

Once the request is open, click on the Copy button. This will open a pre‐populateddesign request form, with the same information that had been entered before.Update information as needed.

This is specially useful when you want to copy the information from a previousrequest or if you would like to send more than one file for approval.

On your profile main page under the section Approval requests requiring action, you can view and select requests that need to be updated.

Reviewing trademark request history

You can see a list of all your trademark requests by clicking on TrademarksApproval, under the Trademarks section.

Each has its own status: Awaiting Review, Changes Required, Replaced,Cancelled, Approved or Conditionally Approved (i.e. pending compliancerequirements).

When the status of your request is Approved you will be able to generate aletter of approval for using Rainforest Alliance trademarks. Do this by clicking onthe approval letter button as indicated above.

Expirations and renewals

Requests that have been approved in Marketplace 2.0 forbranded packaging will be valid for three years.

After the request has expired the design will need toundergo the approval process again.
