Using Edmodo h,ps://hcps.edmodo.com/
If you forget your password, the “Forgot your password” link in the sign in sec:on will now send you an email to reset your password. In the past, this feature did not work for us.
First, create your group.
Click
Name your group, then select a grade and a subject.
Choose your group size then finish.
The group code is to be used to create student accounts. When the code is used, students are automaDcally put in your group in your account. Be aware that when you reopen a locked group code, the code will change.
CreaDng Student Accounts
iPad App
Even though students can create their account right on their iPads, I highly recommend that you create the student accounts. Just use the group code that was generated for the group you created. You can do it from your laptop. The direcDons are the same. This allows you to have control over the usernames and passwords. Students can keep their Edmodo account for as long as they are a student. When you delete them from your class, it does not delete the student account. Student accounts can only be deleted when you email an Edmodo representaDve.
1st 2nd
Carefully choose usernames and passwords. Make sure they are unique and are not associated with a grade or school. Students can keep their Edmodo accounts forever and just join different group each school year. Be careful when typing in the password because there is no feature to “verify password” when you type it. It’s probably easier to do this on your computer then give students their log in info. Students can log into Edmodo from the app on the iPad or on a computer. Once you sign them up with the group code for you class, this puts them into your class.

3rd: Under “More” you will find the parent code among other important opDons.

Member OpDons Very Important! Set all members of the group to “Read-‐Only” so that students cannot chat and make inappropriate posts. When you want to have educaDonal discussions, you can change it to “Contributors.” You can also choose to moderate posts. This will allow students to send you messages and ask you quesDons. You can then determine if it is appropriate to post for everyone to see. Follow the direcDons on my document Dtled “Controlling Student Posts” to learn how to moderate posts.

CreaDng Other Assignments • Did you know you can have your students work on a pdf document or a webpage and turn it in to be graded?
• You can create all kinds of assignments and grade them right from you Edmodo account.
• A big plus is that students get immediate feedback on their work as they see their grades and your comments.
• Another plus is that you can quickly see who has not turned in an assignment and you don’t have to worry about students forgekng to put their names on their work.
First, students click on the link to view their assignments.
This is a pdf.
This is a website.
When the link is a website similar to this with a passage and quesDons, students have the opDon of copying the content then pasDng it inside the “Turn in” box to conDnue working there. Aber students tap “Copy” tap “Cancel.”
Select all then copy.
Students are returned to the post screen and must tap “Turn in” for the correct assignment. Then, students tap and hold finger inside box unDl the word “Paste” appears then tap “Paste.”
Students conDnue working in the “Turn in” box by tapping inside the box to bring up the cursor to start typing. When students tap “Next,” the assignment is turned in to be graded.
Working With PDF
• Students can work on a pdf file in another app, then send it to Edmodo to turn in.
• Students can turn in assignments immediately or add it to “Backpack” to turn in later.
• Adding the assignment to the “Backpack” is a good idea to save a copy of their work for future reference or save it from being deleted from the iPad.
Aber students retrieve the teacher’s doc from the post, they need to open it in the Neu Annotate, Adobe, or Paper Desk app so they can write or type on it to complete the assignment.
Click square with arrow.
Aber working on documents in the Neu Annotate, Adobe, or Paper Desk apps, students send their work back to Edmodo.
Students can turn in the assignment and add it to their Backpack to save a copy of their work. Even though their work can be saved while they are working in Neu Annotate or one of the other apps, it’s good to save it in the Edmodo Backpack in case their iPad has to be restored.
