1. Company Profile Ustaoglu Shipyard was founded in Black Sea Eregli in 1968 by the experienced master carpenter Ahmet Ustaoglu and was wellknown for its top quality fishery shipbuilding along Blacksea coast. The art of "Master carpenter" has become rare in Turkey and Europe but Ustaoglu Shipyard still holds a number of masters of carpenters that were raised by the old generation .

1980 – First Steel Fishery 1965- Surmene 1975 – Fishery Quay Eregli In 1989, the company transformed into a private limited company and moved to Guluc Shipyard Area . From the 80's on to halfway through the late 90's, shipyard continued building fishery boats and moved into the building of steel passenger boats and small cargo vessels and exported to countries like malta ,israel ,germany etc.. Despite the unstable economical situation of the country at that years yard has managed to survive this period due to diversification of the activities towards both the yachting and the traditional shipbuilding niche.

1990’s – Guluc 2000’s Guluc Area – Ustaoglu Shipyard Beginning of 2000’s ,yard reached the status of best builder of specialized and classed ,small passenger vessels and ferries ,which are still operating at bosphorus and within Turkey and Greek Islands.Shipyard grew towards a high quality reputation for construction and maintenance. Also within 2001-2002 shipyard showed his affection for the yachting business and built a range of motor yachts from 25 meter to 40 meter for a Turkish owner.

In 2005 , within the new incitement policy of the government supporting the Turkish Shipbuilding Industry , Ustaoglu handed a shipyard place to be reclaimed from the sea which will be 120.000 square meters in complete . Same year both shipyards had entered into a renowation and investment projects .

Shipyard entered into a joint venture with MedMarine and founded another private limited shipbuilding company under the name of “Usmed Shipyard” .Usmed Shipyard presently continues building high spec tug boats with BV class and hich spec IMO II Type ,Ice Class 1A Oil Chemical Tankers .

Ustaoglu Shipyard continued its operations at their new premises after completion of the first half of the investment plan which was covering the reclaiming land of 100.000 square meter from the 10meter depth sea , building closed workshop for main block and yacht construction and first two slipways with a width of 25m and length of 140m. The aimed steel processing capacity has been reached and aimed maximum size for building cargo vessels has been exceed at the end of the first period .

In spite of huge investments , shipyard continues his building with a healthy balance of larger and smaller projects in its order book. Shipyard employs more than 250 persons in total whom were diversified in to Cargo and Yacht Building divisions and sub divided within their main department.

Shipyard offers full service capabilities towards the yachts , dry cargo vessels and tankers. Company is active in Newbuildings of Dry cargo vessels, Tankers ,Container vessela and Super Yachts , according to owners requirements can both serve on key turn basis or hull construction on cost plus basis. With its private quay , yard serves private berth for its clients after launching in order to comfort them in the process of outfitting till they get ready for a safety sail .


Within the second half of the investment plan ,end of 2008 , yard completed its land reclaiming of 120.000 square meters with a seperate closed area solely dedicated for steel and aluminium yacht construction also will be equipied to serve basic interior construction such as floors and walls.

1.1 Financial and Organizational Structure of Shipyard Ustaoglu Shipyard is a family business which is running over 40 years with respect to the traditional craftsmanship and with passion to reach the highest standarts of shipbuilding. All the shareholders of the company have traditional shipbuilding in their background and well known masters of axe in their area. It is quite clear that all shareholders had a lot of talent for both the craftsmanship and the management of the people within company.. Besides the family structure of the yard , with the diversified structure in management and responsible role division , the balanced professional administration of the yard obtained. The division takes places as ,Ali Arikan is the General Manager, Rasim Ustamehmetoglu is the Financial Manager ,Kamil Ustamehmetoglu is the General Coordinator and Sales and Marketting Manager and Hamdi Ustamehmetoglu is the Technical and Production Manager of the shipyard. Decisions are taken all together by the above four directors with respect to the individual ideas. In the organizational chart , the construction department and administrative department seperated from each other . Within the construction department , the two major departments took place as Yacht Construction and Cargo Vessel Construction including Der Cargo , Tankers and Tug Boats . In the financial terms , for the first investment period ,shipyard used its own capital coming from the company it self and from shareholders for the construction of the shipyard in terms of reclaiming land and constructing workshops and slipways . For the second investment period , shipyard to leased new equipments such as mobile cranes, gantry cranes on top of slipways , several ranges of forklifts , new cnc and new sandblasting machines as well as new formation for yacht building in the private closed workshop for steel and aluminium works and interior construction workshop. Shipyard’s main financial aim for the mentioned investment periods for two years is to circulate cash and avoid long term bank loans . In the history of the yard , had been always a trustworthy client of first class Turkish Banks and with short term credits and ontime payments , shipyard became a reputable client with high credibility. At the moment , shipyard continues its investments and construction of vessels as a dept free company . 1.2 Service Information Ustaoglu Shipyard is serving its clients mainly on two major areas ,newbuilding of Dry / Liquid Cargo Vessels and newbuilding motor yachts in steel and aluminium structures . In total ,there are 250 workers working for the shipyard, besides 400 workers of 6 different subcontructer companies working for the shipyard. Construction team is directed by 15 engineers and technicians with an experienced chief engineer and all under management of Hamdi Ustamehmetoglu. The service aim was to built up to 10.000 dwt vessel at the end of first investment period was exceed with the two contracts of 13.500 dwt sister container vessels for a turkish fleet owner company. Also annual steel processing capacity was planned as 10.000 tons which is now 12.000 tonnes .


Sand Blasting – Vertical & Horizontal Epoxy Painting Within its premises ,yard has the largest CNC cutting machine with 8m width and also another CNC with 4m width. Shipyard is sandblasting and epoxy paint the steel for its clients vessels and also try to supply high demand for sandblasting and epoxy from the neighbour shipyards in the area. With the new constructed private service pier which is designed for clients outfitting facilities and maintenance of the vessels , quay can accomodate vessels up to 130m and 80m in each piers. Shipyard is always aimed to serve the best for its clients in respect of Turkish hospitality .Each shipowner has a private furnished office within the main building with phone and internet line. After completion of the main investments ,yard is considering building a guest house for its clients and putting a charter helicopter line in cooperation with other yards . 1.3 Technical Information of shipyard Shipyard is placed on reclaimed land of 400 meter width and 300 meter length. At the moment total area is 120.000 m² and Closed block construction workshop area is 10.800 m ² of total, Closed shotblasting & CNC cutting area is 3.400 m ² .Total electric transformer of the shipyard is 2200 Kva .Shipyard has 5 slipways ,slipway-1-2 is designed for airbag launching with 165 meter length and 16 meter width ,Slipway 3 is a classical slipway with a length of 185 meter and width 38 meter. The last 2 slipways are again designed for airbag launching and length with 185 meter and widths 17m and 36 meter.Maximum dwt can shipyard built at the moment is 25.000 dwt . Steel processing capacity of the shipyard annually is 15.000 tons

Slipways


1.4 Vessels under construction at Ustaoglu Shipyard Shipyard has divided the new constructions mainly into two part of Cargo Vessel Construction and Mega Yacht Construction both aiming to reach the highest standarts in the shipbuilding industry . Shipyard is following the technological improvements in shipbuilding and will start using airbags for launching with the first launch which is planned for 8500 dwt General Cargo Vessel . Shipyard has also get the distributorship rights of airbags in Turkey and Europe .

A- CARGO VESSEL CONSTRUCTION Hull 96 : The General Cargo vessel is being built for a wellknown turkish owner , Atasoy Denizcilik. 10000 dwt General Cargo vessel is being built according to Korea Class satisfaction ,.Company is renewing their fleet and their previous launch in 2006 ,MV Ofmar 8500 DWT was also built by Ustaoglu Shipyard will be the companies third vessel.

10000 dwt General Cargo Vessel Construction to be launched with airbags Hull 89 -97 : The 1050 TEU container vessel 12.250 dwt is being built for a Turkish fleet and shipyard owner, Furtrans Denizcilik , Hull 88 which was the sister vessel of hull 89 also built and Launched by Ustaoglu Shipyard in 2008 . The vessels are being built according to Bureau Veritas class satisfaction . The overall lenght is 140 meters and beam is 22,6 meter . Company has a large fleet and hull 97 is a 18000 DWT IMO Type II tanker which is built in Ustaoglu Shipyard.

12250 DWT Container Vessel Construction and 18000 DWT Chemical Oil Tanker Hull 95-94 : Hull 94 and 95 are 7000 dwt and 9000 DWT IMO II Type Oil Chemical Tanker with shallow draft ,both being built according to Bureau Veritas Class The Owner Company is a Shipyard owner from Netherlands , Breko Marine.


Respectfull shipyard owner choosed another wellknown shipyard in Turkey so this two hulls is the 4th and the 5th ones of the series built in Ustaoglu Shipyard. Breko made contract for 12 tankers in total with Ustaoglu with three different size and 9 of them are stainless steel tankers,for now the construction plan is built/deliver 12 of them up to agust 2010.

7000 DWT and 9000 DWT IMO II Type Oil Chemical Tanker B- YACHT CONSTRUCTION

Hull 87 : The first hull ,MY Xo of the Seas is being built for a Finnish Company . Yacht is being built for owners high spec demands according to Rina Charter and Comfort Class ,MCA and US Coast Guard Satisfaction and also have Unrestricted Navigation . The design is coming from beautiful MY Ad Lib ,from the board of Dubois Naval Architects . The yacht is 32m length and 7.6 meter beam and could accomodate 11 guests and 4 crew . The yacht launched in june 2009 and still at ahipyards private quay for outfitting.


MY XO of The Seas Hull 90 : Second hull , MY Oceanic is being built for a british company , Saenz Corporation. The second hull will have minor changes on the design according to owners wishes and approval from Dubois Naval Architects. MY Oceanic is also being built for Rina charter and Comfort Class ,MCA and US Coast Guard Satisfaction and have unrestricted navigation . Yacht is planned to launch ,February 2010.


NB hull Orucoglu : 51m Motoryacht is designed by Turkish designers and built for a welknown Turkish owner according to Rina Class Standarts.

1.5- Private Quay Private Quay is mainly design to serve for outfitting facilities after launching according to clients needs . Two piers 130 meter length and 80 meter length with a draft of 5-7 meters will be avaible for maintenance and also could be used for discharging of the equipment which the customs clearance already done.

2. Joint Venture of Ustaoglu and MedMarine - USMED Shipyard

2.1 Company Profile Joint Venture of Usmed took place on the end of 2004 between the parties of Ustaoglu Shipyard and Med Marine Group . Our partner, Med Marine is successfully operating all over the world in the field of towage, pilotage, salvage/ wreck removal, ship escort, chartering and ship-building areas .With the succesfull joint venture USMED became the areas third biggest shipyard. Usmed Shipyard carried Ustaoglu to a specialized side of building powerfull Tug Boats . Usmed Shipyard start building tug boats to be exported and IMO II Type Oil Chemical Tankers 2.2 Financial and organizational structure Joint Venture of USMED took place on equal basis and shipyard is being managed by Board of directors consisting the managers of both companies . Reconstruction 2.3 Service information After rebuilding and re-equipment , the yard reached its full capacity . Usmed is mostly concentrated on tug building and series of 7200 DWT IMO II Type Oil Chemical , Ice Class Tankers . 2.4 Vessels underconstruction at Usmed Shipyard At the moment shipyard is building 2 units of 24 Meter Tug Boat with 40 tbp . At the end of June steel cutting of 2 units 32 meter Tug Boat with 65 Tbp will start. Shipyard on the other hand continues the construction of second hull of 7000 Dwt out of the series of 4 units.
