The Hon’ble Governor, Dr. K.K Paul, presented a presented portrait of the 21 PVC recipients and CDs to the Vice Chancellors for the wall of valour. The Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy, Additional Chief Secretary Dr Ranveer Singh, Director General of Police M A Ganapathy, GOC of Uttrakhand sub area, Major General Balraj Mehta were also present on the occasion. 2. Research Methodology capsule College of Engineering Roorkee, Roorkee in collaboration with Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun organized Research Methodology course of course of 40 lectures for all Ph.D from 12 th to 17 th June, 2017 for Ph.D. Scholars. On the occasion Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg, Shri. Shriyansh Jain, MD Texplas Group of Industries, Director General COER Major Gen A K Chaturvedi, AVSM, VSM were present. 4. Ph.D Entrance Examination University successfully conducted an online entrance examination for PhD program on 17 th June 2017 on following subjects: Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, English, Environmental Science & Engineering, Food Technology, Life-Sciences, Management, Mass Communication, Mathematics, an Mechanical Engineering. Out of 711 Ph.D applications received, approx 550 applicants appeared for entrance exam. The result for Ph.D online entrance exam was declared on 21 st June 2017, the interviews are scheduled from 4 th to 7 th July 2017. 5. Officials of HDFC Bank University had organized a meeting on 18 th June 2017 at Vice-Chancellor Secretariat the meetings primarily focused on promotion and awareness generation on cashless transactions.

1. Wall of Heroes

Uttarakhand Raj Bhawan on 2nd June 2017, to appreciate our real heroes organized launching ceremony of Vidhya Veerta Abhiyan (VVA) in Uttarakhand at Raj Bhawan. all Ph.D from 12th to 17th June, 2017 for Ph.D. Scholars. On the occasion Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg, Shri. Shriyansh Jain, MD Texplas Group of Industries, Director General COER Major Gen A K Chaturvedi, AVSM, VSM were present.

4. Ph.D Entrance Examination

University successfully conducted an online entrance examination for PhD program on 17th June 2017 on following subjects: Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, English, Environmental Science & Engineering, Food Technology, Life-Sciences, Management, Mass Communication, Mathematics, an Mechanical Engineering. Out of 711 Ph.D applications received, approx 550 applicants appeared for entrance exam.

The result for Ph.D online entrance exam was declared on 21st June 2017, the interviews are scheduled from 4th to 7th July 2017.

5. Officials of HDFC Bank

University had organized a meeting on 18th June 2017 at Vice-Chancellor Secretariat the meetings primarily focused on promotion and awareness generation on cashless transactions.

6. Yoga Day celebrated with enthusiasm On 21st June 2017, at the occasion of Yoga Day, hundreds of people turned up at parade ground, Dehradun to practice yogic asanas on the International Yoga Day. Presiding over the state level programme held at the Parade Ground in Dehradun Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Ayush Minister Harak Singh Rawat performed different yogic postures as hundreds of yoga enthusiasts, young and old alike, followed them to mark the occasion.Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg, also participated on the occasion.

7. International Yoga Day

Uttarakhand Technical University celebrated the International Yoga Day on June 21, 2017 in its own campus, with great enthusiasm. On the occasion, Prof. P.K Garg, Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.S Vaisla, Controller of Examination, Shri J.S Tomar, Finance Controller, Shri S.P Rawat, Deputy Registrar, Smt. Shabali Gurung, Asst. Director Sports and Students Welfare, Shri, G.S Bisht, Asst, Registrar and Deputy Controller of Examination, Heads of Department, faculty and staff members along with the students performed meditation and various yoga asanas under the instructions from the Yoga Instructors.

The students and faculty gathered in large numbers to participate in the ancient physical and spiritual discipline of Yoga.

8. Meeting with Finance Office

On 21st June 2017, to discuss the implementation of various decisions passed by the 14th Finance Committee, Hon’be Vice-Chancellor chaired a meeting with finance office of University.Contoller of Exam, Dr. K.S Vaisla, Deputy

Registrar, Shri. S.P Rawat, Asst. Sports Director, Smt. Shabali Gurung and employee from establishment, sports department were also present.

9. Faculty Development Programme

Uttarakhand Technical University organized a faculty development program on 24th and 25th June 2017 at University auditorium. This program aimed at developing the research skills of the faculty members, and is specially designed for faculty members of management and technical department.

The eminent speakers from various reputated intuitions graced the occasion, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. PK Garg presented certificate to the participants.

10. Ph.D Viva Voce held

The University conducted twelve Ph.D viva-voce exams in the month of June in Biotechnology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Management, Mechanical Engineering and Pharmacy in June 2017. The viva voce exams of Monika Bhatnagar, Anju Thapliyal, Pardeep Sangwan, Amit Malhotra, Prabhat Kumar Raghuvanshi, Naveen Dwivedi, Amit Kumar Thakur, Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, Deepak Bansal, Sameeksha Jain, Juhi Garg and Mohd Yasir were successfully completed.

THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology

1. NCECIC 2017

The Institute organized its 2nd National Conference on Energy, Communication and Intelligence Computing” (NCECIC 2017) on 3rd and 4th June, 2017.

NCECIC focuses on recent advances in the field of communication, computing and control systems. It aims to provide an opportune forum and vibrant platform for researchers, academicians, Scientists and industrial practitioners to share their original research work, findings and practical development experiences. The proceedings will be published in the various internationally renowned journal series.

The general motive of the conference is to promote international collaboration in education and Research in all fields and disciplines of engineering. NCECIC -2017 is a forum for those who wish to present their projects and innovation. In the conference, 85 research papers have been in published in International Journals.

We are obliged to our Director (THDC-IHET) Prof. G.S. Tomar, for his confidence which they have invested on us for organizing this conference.

2. International Yoga Day

THDC-IHET family celebrated International Yoga Day in the campus. Director Prof. G S Tomar along with faculty and staff participated in the event by performing Yoga and

meditation. It was a refreshing and rejuvenating experience for the participants.

3. Manthan

On completing 100 days of establishment of BJP led State Govt., in Uttarakhand, a Programme, named “Manthan” was organized by the State Govt. in the CM residence at Cantt., Dehradun on 25 June.

The theme of the programme was to encourage the students of various state govt. colleges to present their ideas on various social welfare schemes that are currently being run by the central govt. and to deliberate that in what capacity can they be run in Uttarakhand.

The teams of various colleges were given a specified scheme and they were asked to present their ideas with the help of a power point presentation. The topics were “Swachch Bharat”, “Digital India”, “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, “Skill India” etc. The institute was given the topic

of “Digital India” and the student team very well presented the theme in front of the dignitaries comprising of His Excellency Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat, CM of Uttarakhand Govt., Mr. Satpal Mahraj, Cabinet Minister, Uttarakhand Govt, Mr. Omprkash, Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand Govt. and others. The team was successful in securing third position and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.15000/-.

SIHMCT & AN

1. Industrial Exposure Training

The Institute arranged the six months Industrial Training / Internship of the students in star hotels like Taj, Novotel, and Ramada. Industrial Training started from 15th June 2017 till 30th November 2017. The students reported to their respective hotel on respective dates and started to learn the practical aspects of Hospitality Management. The students will undergo Industrial Training from all the major core departments of the hotel viz. Front Office, Food and Beverage Service, Food Production and House Keeping Department. The students can even undergo Training from the supporting departments of the hotel like Human Resource, Stores etc if allotted by the respective Human Resource Managers of the concerned hotels. The Institute wishes the students good luck for their Industrial Training.

2. Evaluation Committee

An evaluation committee was held for the Assistant Professors of the Institute at the new campus of the University on the 04th June 2017. A PBAS (Performance based Appraisal system) was used to renew the contract and extend the services of the Assistant Professors for the session 2017-18.

The panel was headed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, UTU, Prof. P.K.Garg and the other members comprised of two subject experts – Mr. Ravi Prakash, Principal, IHM Delhi and Dr. Ashish Dahiya, Director, MDU, Rohtak. The Vice Chairman of the panel was the Director of UTDB (Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board) Mr. Narendar

Singh Quiryal, Dr. Yashpal Singh Negi was also in the panel to review and assess the performance of the Assistant Professors of the Institute during the academic year 2016-17. Similarly for the Non-teaching staff an evaluation committee was framed under the chairmanship of Dr. Yashpal Singh Negi, Director, SIHMCT & AN, New Tehri and Assistant Professors Mr. Pradeep Negi, Mr. Kuldeep Singh and Mr. Abhishek Chauhan. The Lab Attendants and other non teaching staff were judged on the basis of cooking capabilities, service capabilities, typing and drafting and other aspects of judgement. The performance was found to be satisfactory by the panel headed by Dr. Yashpal Singh Negi.

3. Interviews conducted for Assistant Professors

Interviews were conducted for the posts of Assistant Professors at the new campus of the Uttarakhand Technical University on 22nd May 2017. A Panel was framed under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice Chairman, UTU Dr. P.K.Garg. New faculty were selected.

Amrapali Group of Institutes

1. Admissions

Another year rolls by and once again there is a huge expectation mounting from the crowd of students wanting to get enrolled in the fall summer session at the reputed Amrapali Group of Institutes that takes knowledge as a flight to touch the sky.

The month of May once again buzzes with innumerable students patiently waiting in queues to enter the premises of Amrapali with lots of hopes and aspirations to become successful professionals. A word of mouth confirmed in the form of success stories of the institution in the past years seemed to be enough to boost the enthusiasm of the youth towards their march to gain education through this reputed

institute. It is indeed a time of making tough decision for the management yet the work of selection via proper nomination procedure goes on as the wannabe faculty work their way out to make many future safe and secure within the realms of the country and abroad with the driving force that ‘Knowledge has no dearth of job’.

2. Training Program

Training programs beyond the course schedule play a crucial role towards technical and personality development of a student. Elucidating the importance of technology in the current era, Faculty of Computer Science and Applications, Amrapali group of Institutes, organized training programs for the students of Computer Science and Applications in the month of May-June, 2017 to equip them with advanced technologies , required in the Software Industry.

The training was thought out, to provide a platform for the students of technical background to materialize their skills with the assistance of our expert mentors Dr Nitin Deepak, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Joshi and Mr A.B.Khare.

The training program was consists of two modules “Advanced Office Automation” and “PHP & MySQL” each one is of forty hours duration.

Advance Office Automation (Mentor Mr. A.B.Khare)

Training program of ‘Advance Office Automation’ organized for the students of Computer Science. As the computer operation field demands the use of a variety of office operations such as Word Processing, Accounting etc. The program aimed at developing skills to handle Office Operations efficiently and effectively at the work place. Students worked on M.S. Word, M.S. Excel and Powerpoint features like Mail Merge, Text Editing, Slide Presentation, Macro’s, Pivot Tables etc.

PHP and My SQL (Mentors Dr. Nitin Deepak & Mr. Mukesh Kr. Joshi)

Training Program on ‘ PHP and My-SQL’ organized to inculcate the students mind with the evolving technologies in practical. Its motive was to lay the basic concept of 3 tier architecture where they can learn to develop front end as well as back end applications and as a result a complete application in whole.

The training was started with PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor), a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. The backend tool taken was MySQL, which is a RDBMS used to manage and organize data in the form of database, relation, tables out of which with the help of user designed queries, data can be retrieved efficiently.

Towards the accomplishment of the training a test was organized to evaluate the understanding and efficiency of the participants, Director Prof. (Dr) M K Pandey, extended the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, participating students the core organizing committee, for making the event a great achievement, along with the distribution of certificates .

Gyani Inder Singh Institute of Professional Studies 1. Nouveau Medicament ltd have visited in our institute for campus placement Asloop Rana Manager conducted the Interview. Six students were selected Pankaj Singh Khanka, Kiran Bhatt, Ayush Barthwal, Sanjeev prakash, Mohd Afsar, Ashish Negi.

Maya Group of Colleges 1. Farewell -2017

Maya Institute of Technology and Management organized farewell party on 1st June 2017 in the college campus, where students of B.Tech third year bid farewell to the outgoing students of B.Tech final year with great enthusiasm.

The function began with a goodbye Video compiled by the students of third year. With the speech of the director Engineering Dr. Parul Goyal and the Dean S.S. Sarin the

function was appreciated by everyone. Student of the B.Tech third year presented very entertaining groupdance, solo dance and song performances. Students of final year participated in ‘Fashion Parade’. Different tags were awarded to the students . Some exciting games were also arranged for the students and wrere by all. Token of Love and appreciation was given to the students by their juniors in Moment distribution ceremony. Students were then addressed by all the HOD’s. They wished them for their better future and carrier.

The Vice Chairman Dr. Ashish Semwal, The Managing Director Smt. Tripti Juyal and The Secretary Mr. Saurabh Juyal, Director Engg. Prof.(Dr.) Parul Goyal was present throughout the function. They wished the students of 2014-2017 batch a wonderful future ahead.

2. Expert talk

A day before Yoga Day in the Maya Group of College, the Vice Chairman of the college highlighted the significance of yoga and said many diseases can be avoided by Yoga such as diabetes etc.

At the same time, even after having a disease like diabetes, these diseases can be overcome by practicing yoga daily basis. Under the Maya College of Holistic Studies, training has been given for Yoga, Pranayam and meditation in college.

The college Chairman Mr. M.L Juyal said yoga is being beneficiary for health; He said that he also give 2 hours every day for yoga and meditation.

All the staff, faculty and students were present at this moment. In this program, Dr. Ashish Semwal discussed Yoga, Pranayam, Bhadras, Madras, Hat Yoga, and meditation. In this program, Dr. Ashish Semwal explained the importance of Yoga, Pranayam, Bhadras, Madras, Hat Yoga, and meditation to all the staff, faculty and students. College V.C. Dr. Ashish Semwal is giving the training of Dhayana and Yoga from last 20 years.

In this program, Chairman of the College Mr. M.L. Juyal, Vice Chairman Dr. Ashish Semwal, M.D. Mrs. Trptii Semwal, Sectary Saurabh Juyal and Director Engineering Prof ( Dr.) Parul Goyal were present.

3. Colleges hosts International Yoga Day

Maya group of colleges organized international yoga day on 21st June in which all the college management, faculties and staff participated with joy.

In this occasion there was a session of yoga presided by vice chairman Dr. Ashish Semwal in which he told the importance of yoga in everyone’s life and insisted regular yoga exercises for living a healthy and fit life style. Different yoga aasans, like Suryanamaskar, Bhardasan, Vrikshashan, Wakrassan were explained at this session along with their importance in daily life. Many political, Sports and film celebrities have already adopted yoga since from many years. Dr. Semwal taught Raj yoga is supreme

yoga, Krum yoga, Gayn yoga, Bhakti yoga, Physiological, Psychological, Vedic exercises, 8 fold path of all religion correlated to yoga. Self Discipline is most important aspect of yoga. On this occasion all staff and faculty members practiced 108 times surya namaskar. Since last 20 years Dr. Semwal is practicing and teaching Youga and meditation.

He added that 167 countries are celebrating international yoga day, U.N. Secretary Baan Ki moon described yoga as a compulsory part of life and praised it. Also our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is also a great preacher of yoga. it was his efforts that the yoga is now celebrated as an international event. Yoga Day was concluded by the end of the program by Laughter Meditation.

On this occasion college chairman Mr. M.L. Juyal announced opening of a new college “Maya Institute of holistic studies” shortly. The prime specialties of this institute will be learning art of self defense and disaster management by various techniques.

On this occasion Director Engineering Prof ( Dr.) Parul Goyal, Senior Faculties, Faculties and students of Maya Group of Colleges were present.

J.B Institute of Technology

1. Students selected by Apollo Tyres Ltd

An Open Pool Campus placement drive was organised at JBIT for Diploma (ME/EE) students on 10.06.17 by reputed multinational company Apollo Tyres Ltd, Varodra.

A total of 321 students from 31 different colleges of Uttrakhand & U.P. appeared in this campus drive with full enthusiasm. After several rounds total 52 students were finally selected. All selected students were highly excited on getting the start of their career with such a big brand

3. Students selected by NIIT Ltd

An Open Pool Campus placement drive was organized at JBIT for B.Tech (CS/IT) students on 12.06.17 by reputed IT company NIIT Ltd, Gurgaon.

Total 80 Students from 4 Different colleges of Uttarakhand appeared in this campus drive with full enthusiasm. After several rounds total 2 Students were finally shortlisted. All students were highly excited on getting the start of their career with such a big brand.

4. Students selected by Value Prospect Consulting

An Open Pool Campus placement drive was organized at JBIT for B.Tech (CS/EC) and BBA students on 24.06.17 by reputed IT company Value Prospect Consulting, Noida.

finally shortlisted. All students were highly excited on getting the start of their career with such a big brand.

Swami Darshnanand Institute of Management and Technology

1. Eco-Friendly Solar e-Rickshaw

Swami Darshnanand Institute of Management and Technology students of SDIMT have assembled Eco-friendly solar e-Rikshaw under one of their major project. This rikshaw can run 80 km., after charging once and it can be easily charged in 2-3 hrs. The 3rd year students of electrical branch, who have assembled e-riksha are Akansha Singh, Aman Kashyap, Farida Khan, Akaksha Chauhan, Gulshan and Sandeep Kumar. The project guides on behalf of the institute who have help the students are Sanjay Singh, Umesh Chandra, Shenaj Ansari and A.K. Gautam.

Apart from this other projects are Automatic power generating train, Solar Coolar, Inverter etc. On this occasion managing director Mr. Anil Goyal Congratulated the students and inspired them for future.

2. Workshop on “Niryat Bandhu in International Trade”

A workshop on “Niryat Bandhu in International Trade” was organized on 17 June under Federation of Indian Export Organizations popularly known as (FIEO) under the Aegis of Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India for the students of management and polytechnic. The program was started by Director General of SDIMT Prof. S.C. Dhamija by welcoming the guest. On this occasion Joint Director of International trade Mr. Dinesh Kumar Tomar has told about the opportunity of export that are

available in abundance specially in Uttarakhand and Indian government is encouraging the students for doing export business and helping a lot to the young generation for doing export business by providing so many grants and subsidies for export. He told that government is providing 90% subsidy in case of hill schemes and also giving incentives on medicinal plants, also helping in gold and silver import licence and giving grants for handicraft.

Mr. Y S Garg, Advisor, Federation of Indian Export Organizations has told the students how they can go for export without risk. He also told about necessary documentation related to export. On this occasion Mr. Subhash Chawala, Mr. Madan Mohan Varshney and Mr. Vibhore Sharma also addressed the students and told about entrepreneurship. Dean academics Ms. Jailaxmi, Dr. Ranjana Babbar were coordinating the program.
