Waldo's presents: Local Singer/Songwriters in the RoundUnder this roof, a diverse crowd gathers, each of us on our own unique journey. Someseek to find their connection to that which is greater through art or music. Others mayconnect through a spiritual discipline or endeavor. Yet, others find their connection to

that which is greater through Social Action. Whatever it is that draws us together, weall affirm to serve others in community. and sometimes those far outside ourcommunity, our world community.

Improving the lives of women and children is the best way to increase the quality of lifein a village and in a country. Due to our efforts in 2012, the small village of Dengolt,Ethiopia has clean water. This year, we set out to do it again. Working with Water ToThrive, UUFW will break ground in another village in the same Tigre region of Africa.Providing fresh drinking water for a village allows the girls of the tribe to attend school,

and the potential of water-borne diseases is drastically reduced.On October 4th, Waldos Coffeehouse will kick off our 2013 Water Well Fund Drivewith a fantastic live music line-up. Mark your calendars for an opportunity to make achange for the better, right around the corner in a village in Africa.

Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Build 2013 October 3 & 19Please mark your calendars for this years Habitat for Humanity build!The kickoff and ribbon cutting is on October 3rd at 10:00 AM. UUFWhas reserved a half day on October 19 th. We will need approximately10 volunteers to fill our shift. Consider donating your leftover homeimprovement and construction materials to ReStore to raise more money forHabitat to turn into new homes.

September 21 2013 Komen Central Texas Race for the CureThe KomenCentral Texas Race for the Cure is an annual 1K and 5K fundraising walk/runevent held at Heritage Square in downtown Waco. The event is a co-ed race andgreat fun for the entire family. The 2013 Race is in its 13th year and is part of anational 5K series sponsored by Susan G. Komen. The goal of the event is to raise

funds, heighten awareness and educate people about breast health as well as to recognize andcelebrate breast cancer survivorship. Seventy-five percent of the net income from the Komen Central

Texas Race stays in the local community to fund breast health education and breast cancerscreening and treatment projects. The remaining twenty-five percent helps fund groundbreakingbreast cancer research. To register, click here: Race for the Cure.

October 13 Heart of Texas CROP Hunger Walk Heart of Texas CROP HungerWalk has set a goal of 200 walkers and hopes to raise $5,000 forChurch WorldService and forCaritas of Waco. The walk is for all ages and all faiths. Registrationbegins at 2 p.m. Step-off for 5 K walk is at 3 p.m. Bledsoe-Miller Recreation Center,
