In a short span of its existence, the University has been progressively moving towards becoming a Centre of Excellence in the field of higher education. Quality is a journey on the path of continuous improvement which has no last milestone and it is this ideology that UW believes in. The University focuses not only in providing quality education in contemporary domains but also strives to make students independent in thought and action and build high moral values in them. We take pride in our dynamic and outstanding faculty, innovative pedagogical practices, state-of-art infrastructure and multi-disciplinary academic programs at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. It is heartening to inform that UW is making rapid strides in all areas of its functioning. We have recently taken major initiatives like construction of Library, Boys Hostel, and Multipurpose Hall. th4 Convocation 2016 of University of Wah was held on 04 April, 2016. Chairman POFs Board and Chairman Board of Governors-UW, Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat HI (M) presided over the convocation ceremony and conferred degrees to the graduates. At the end of the ceremony 52 graduates were decorated with Gold Medals.

A number of steps have been taken to improve IT services at the University. These include: 30 branded Core i5 computers have been purchased for up-

gradation of Computer Lab of Department of Computer Sciences A complete IP Exchange system has been purchased and installed

at Quaid and WEC Campuses to ensure that internal and external communications carried out in a secure and efficient manner.

Multimedia Display Systems have been purchased and installed at Multipurpose and Seminar Hall to fulfill the audio-visual requirements.

Labs Development

Department of Chemical Engineering has established a dedicated Computer lab equipped with 50 latest Personal Computers (PCs) to meet the students' educational requirements.

For up-gradation of Electric Machines Lab, Department of Electrical Engineering has purchased two Electro-Mechanical training systems worth Rs. 4.5 million.

Specialized equipment, worth Rs. 2.1 million, has been purchased by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering for up-gradation of its Embedded Systems Lab.

Library

Five hundred and seventy nine new original books along with their local editions have been purchased for the library at Quaid Campus.

WEC library added four hundred and fifty books.

University of Wah organized a lecture titled "CPEC - Its Significance for Pakistan" on 05 May, 2016 in UW Auditorium. Chairman POFs Board and Chairman Board of Governors, University of Wah, Lt. Gen. Omar Mahmood Hayat HI (M) inaugurated the newly-constructed Seminar Hall on Thursday 28 April, 2016 at University of Wah. Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, Prof. Dr. Khaliq Ur Rehman Shad, senior POF officials, faculty members and administration of the University were also present on the occasion.The Seminar Hall is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual presentation aids. It can accommodate up to 70 participants. It will be utilized for workshops, seminars, conferences and guest lectures by national and international resource persons. Chairman POFs Board inspected the facility after the inauguration and was appreciative of the efforts and vision of the university management in materializing and developing University's infrastructure.

A one day training workshop titled 'Training Workshop on Preparation of SARs' was organized by Quality Assurance & Enhancement Cell (QA&E C) on 06 April, 2016 at UW Seminar Hall to formally commence the Self-Assessment Process of the University as per HEC requirements. WEC-IEEE Student Chapter of Electrical Engineering Department in collaboration with Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) organized a Speed Wiring competition on 26 May, 2016 at Wah Engineering College.

Co/Extra-curricular ActivitiesEstablishment of Clubs and Societies-UWUniversity of Wah established various clubs and societies in April 2016. These clubs and societies are comprised of elected students (office bearers) who will co-ordinate and manage various extra-curricular activities through various clubs / societies of the University. These clubs / societies include Debating Club, Fine Arts Club, Environmental Club, Sports Club, Outdoor Activities Club, Media & Mass Communication Society, Social Services Club, and Blood Donation Society. This student body will work under the guidance of the Students' Affairs Committee (SAC).

WEC Techtronix '16WEC Techtronix '16 was organized with the collaboration of American Society of Mechanical Engineers WEC Chapter from 06-07 May, 2016 in order to involve students of different engineering disciplines into challenging competitions. A large number of students from WEC and Quaid Campuses participated in various modules which included Brain of WEC, Icy Pole Bridge Building, Projectile Marina, Bottle Buoyancy, Egg Hedge, 3D-Student Design Challenge, T-Shirt Designing, News Paper Tower Competition, Straw Tower and Mock Interviews. The event concluded with award of certificates and cash prizes.

th7 Annual Inter-departmental Bilingual Declamation Contest was held on 10 March, 2016 in POFIT Hall, Wah Engineering College. Students from all departments of UW participated in the said competition. Prof Dr Aftab Sadiq, Principal WEC, was chief guest of the event. In Urdu Debate contest, Department of Mechatronics

st ndEngineering secured 1 position whereas the 2 position was won by Department of Mechanical Engineering.

stIn English Debate contest, 1 position was secured by Department of Civil Engineering. Department of Electrical Engineering was declared overall winner of the contest. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony. Prof. Dr Aftab Sadiq, distributed prizes among winners and participants.

Establishment of American Society of CivilEngineers (ASCE) - WEC ChapterCivil Professional Society (C.P.S) submitted the “Statement of Intent to Establish ASCE WEC Student Chapter” to American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) on 09 May 2016. ASCE accepted the afore-mentioned form and set a probation year for the student body, starting from June 2016 up till June 2017.

Civil Mania 2016 – WECCivil Professional Society (CPS) organized an event titled 'Civil Mania' from 14-16 March, 2016 at Wah Engineering College. Students from all departments took active part in the competitions.Department of Civil Engineering won Popsicle Bridge-Building, Speed making SFD and BMD and Quiz of General Engineering Concept competitions, whereas Egg Drop competition was won by Department of Mechanical Engineering. Glider Plane competition was won by Department of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

Participation in PiON'16 Students from University of Wah participated in PiON'16 organized from 22 - 24 April, 2016 by Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Islamabad. Department of Mechanical

st ndEngineering secured 1 position in 3D modeling whereas 2 position was secured by Department of Computer Sciences in Speed Programming.

NUST Olympiad

Participation in IST Youth Carnival Students from University of Wah participated in IST Youth Carnival organized from 01-02 April, 2016 by Institute of Space Technology

st (IST), Islamabad. Department of Physics secured 1 position in ndGhazal competition and 2 position in photon fun. Department of

rdChemistry won 3 prize in singing competition. Department of rdBiosciences won 3 position in Urdu story writing competition.

Participation in Civonia 2.0 - WECStudents from Department of Civil Engineering participated in event titled 'Civonia 2.0' from 25-29 April, 2016 organized by ICE Students' Chapter, UET Taxila. The students won Bridge Building competition.

Annual Flower Arrangement Competitionth8 Annual Flower Arrangement competition was organized by

Department of Biosciences in Multipurpose Hall, University of Wah on 29 April, 2016. There were four categories in the event i.e. Fresh Flower Arrangement, Dry Flower Arrangement, Miniature Gardening and Pencil Sketching. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr Khaliq Ur Rehman Shad SI (M), inaugurated the event and visited floral arrangements. He appreciated efforts of participants.

An Agro Tech Park competition was arranged on 08 April, 2016 by Department of Biosciences. Three hundred students from University of Wah took active part in the Competition. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr Khaliq Ur Rehman Shad SI (M), was chief guest. Department of

Blood Donation Camp Quaid CampusA blood donation camp was organized by M/S Jamila Sultana Foundation on 16 March, 2016 at Quaid Campus. A large number of students, faculty members and staff of UW participated in this noble cause.

Express News Education & Career ExpoAn Education and Career Expo was organized from 11 - 12 May, 2016 by Express News in Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad. Students from Department of Computer Sciences participated in the Fashion Show held in the event.

DAWN Education ExpoUniversity of Wah participated in 'DAWN Education Expo-2016' organized by DAWN Group from 13-14 February, 2016 at Jinnah Convention Centre. UW team set up the University stall, highlighting academic programs offered and educational activities of the University and its constituent colleges. Potential students and their parents visited the University stall and showed keen interest in the offered programs.

College Fair-Beaconhouse School SystemsUniversity of Wah participated in College Fair arranged by Beaconhouse School, Wah Cantt branch on 24 March, 2016.Faculty members and students from Quaid and WEC campuses were present at the stall to share information and their experiences with the visitors. Informative material was handed over to visitors. Projects made by engineering students were also displayed on the stall. The visitors showed a lot of interest in these projects.

Social Sciences Expo 2016 The first ever largest Social Sciences Expo of Asia was held from 24 - 25 February, 2016 in Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad. The aim of this expo was to highlight the importance of social sciences. Faculty members and students from Departments of English, Psychology and Islamic Studies and Pak Studies attended the

The faculty won the cricket match from Admin. In athletics, students of Department of Computer Sciences won three competitions and students of Department of Chemistry was winner of one competition. Department of Mathematics came up as an emerging department in annual sports week. Department of Computer Sciences was awarded the General Trophy. Award for best sportsman was given to student of Department of Management Sciences and best sports woman was from Department of Physics. The Vice Chancellor congratulated successful students and appreciated the efforts of organizing team(s) towards making the event a success.

Farewell Party 2016-UWThe following departments organized farewell parties for their outgoing students: Department of Mathematics arranged a farewell party on 14 May,

2016 for the outgoing students at Ordnance Club. A variety program was presented by Departmental Dramatics Club on the occasion

SPORTSAnnual Sports and Cultural Week 2016-UWAnnual Sports and Cultural Week 2016 was organized at University of Wah from 25 - 29 April, 2016. Competitions organized included Qirat, Naat, Essay Writing (English and Urdu), Declamation (English and Urdu), Drama, Bait Bazi and a number of sports competitions. Students and faculty members actively participated in all events.Prize Distribution Ceremony was held at University Auditorium on 29 April, 2016 to honor the achievements of successful students. Vice Chancellor University of Wah, Prof. Dr. Khaliq Ur Rehman Shad, was the chief guest on this occasion. Medals were awarded to the winners.

Sports Week 2016-WECInter-departmental sports competitions were held from 09 to 13 May, 2016 in WEC. Prof. Dr. A. K. Salariya, Dean of Engineering was the distinguished guest on the opening ceremony of Sports Week-2016. In the opening address, it was emphasized that such events should be held from time to time along with academics as they enhance mental and physical capabilities.
