My name is Olivia Ferreira and I am a fourth year Neuroscience honours student. My passion for STEM outreach and involvement in several student groups has made me an active student on campus, especially through my work with Let’s Talk Science. This passion for STEM also translates to my fellow science students, whom I am providing additional support as the Science Director. In this position, I have aimed to provide virtual opportunities for science students to make connections with faculty, strengthen connections with their peers and attend skill building workshops.

I am currently a second year university student, majoring in Kinesiology at the University of Winnipeg. I have many different passions from going on bike rides with friends to going to the gym and reading about chemistry in my free time. I am an academically successful student and am very motivated to help those in need as well as improve the life for all students at the University of Winnipeg. I am particularly interested in helping with the athletics sector as physical activity has always been a passion of mine and is one of the main inspirations for why I am completing a Kinesiology degree and am serving as the Athletics and Recreations Director on the UWSA. I hope we get to chat!

My name is Arshiya Bagheri Torbehbar and I’m the Women and Non-Binary Student’s Director. For the past 3 years, I’ve served on several non-profit organizations and would like to have the honour of representing women and non-binary students at UofW. I consider myself to be a passionate community servant with the ability to motivate and inspire individuals. As a person who experienced years of systematic discrimination in her own country, I want to improve diversity and equality in our community. Whomever you feel you are whether that’s female, male or perhaps you don’t feel strongly to any particular label about gender, YOU’RE NOT ALONE. I will serve the student community to the best of my ability to get greater support for women and non-binary students. We all deserve to study in a healthy community where our gender and identity are accepted and respected.

Hello, my name is Umar Awan. I am a first-year Political Science student who is honoured to be representing the U of W students at a governmental level this year! I have been involved in numerous student advocating initia-tives throughout 2020 and hope to continue to make students education experience as best as possible in the upcoming years. Hope to connect with all of you soon!

Althea is a coffee-obsessed, intellectually curious, number-cruncher with too many interests to list. She has come to the U of W as a third-year Business and Administration student majoring in Accounting, and planning to minor in Applied Computer Science. She has a varied educational background that includes time at both the University of Manitoba in Arts, and Red River College where she graduated last Spring with an Honours Diploma in Business Administration. While at Red River, she was involved in the Student Association as a general volunteer, tutored students in math, computer, and accounting courses, and got involved in leading a Business Solutions Team. Outside of school, she volunteers every spring with community Volunteer Tax Clinics that help low-income people with simple tax situations get their returns done.

Coming back to school after a decade raising a family of four while simultaneously doing her best to run a small clothing design business has been a big challenge, but one that she has enjoyed immensely. She looks forward to working with students across all faculties to make sure that their interests and voices are heard.
