Usability & Layout

A tai lored, s imple layout . None of i t is too subtle or overbearing.

No need for mega menus. Each screen is control led through a bottom menu and the selected display is vert ical ly scrol lable .

People do not l ike to be overwhelmed with too much information at once.

Usability & Layout

Seems everything has i ts place , enough space, and there is an overal l consistency in buttons , menus, logos , and placement.

A prof i le picture icon serves as the l ink to the user prof i le (as i t does on other Google products) , with a short menu containing an invite l ink , sett ings , help , and feedback.

I found everything I needed the f i rst t ime I used the app. There were no f r ict ion points as I navigated through the di f ferent tasks ; however , I would l ike that to be tested further .

The whole t ime I fe lt at ease using the app, which says a lot s ince i t ’s a new experience.

I imagine i t would be easy to navigate for people less technical ly incl ined, but that wi l l require further analys is .

Compatibility

Google Pay is compatible with Android phones and Apple iPhones and iPads , except for in-store payments which are only avai lable on Android devices . Onl ine purchases and payment/transfers are avai lable on both Apple and Android .

I t a lso works on desktop web appl icat ions : Chrome, F irefox , and Safar i .

DifferentiationGoogle Pay has the lowest of fees among its major competitors . I t has the highest a l lowable dai ly transfer l imit a long with PayPal .

The thought-out feature of ‘ Ins ights ’ is n ice . I t ’s useful enough to keep and for others to imitate . Lots of people want to stay on top of their money now. Money is t ight .

What stands out to me is Google Pay ’s integrat ions with other serv ices (Gmai l , Android Messages , and Google Home) .

Yes , i t ’s great to have mult iple , modern conveniences working together ; however , not everyone wants to dive into the Google ecosystem. For PAYDOH , we should be looking at what we can do for those users who aren’t necessar i ly googly eyed for Google or addicted to Apple .

As a matter of fact , there are studies on the di f ference between Google and Apple users and this wi l l be considered in the design process .

Vertical Integration

There are cal ls to action such as options “New Payment” , “Start Group” , “Get Gas” , “Order Food” , “Show All Accounts” . These are strategical ly placed icons or buttons, centered vert ical ly or close to the screen edges. I f ind myself looking inward instead of al l over the place. There are icons to open or an expansion into a smaller inl ine menu.

The CTAs are not overwhelming each screen’s space, which is what I want to emulate for PAYDOH to keep our users engaged.

Calls to Action

• High brand value, well known brand• Continuously innovative• Prepared for growth• Wants to cover multiple needs altogether• Many partnerships/integrations• Access to a lot of data on consumer behavior

• Potential issues with UX/UI after redesign• Customer dissatisfaction (so far)• Not profitable yet, will take great scale of

adoption

• Consider traditional advertising for current non-users or dormant users to get one up on competition

• Giant push, bigger entrance to digital capabilities and usage (COVID-19)

• Plex, a new banking feature, is on the roadmap

• Competitors gaining an edge or moremarket traction (like Apple, who is a step ahead with Apple Pay)

• Smaller competitors on the horizon• Accused of violating anti-trust laws
