TCRG Glovebox• Cover Photo: Mike Timmermans recently acquired this ‘52 Ford Stake bed, essentially a true “barn find”. He and Vivian introduced it to the club in Scandia, MN during the Fall Colors Tour. Mike has already begun preserving this nice example. The flathead was replaced with a newer 302, but at least it is a Ford!• Rumble Sheet Contributors: The Editor would like to thank Bill and Mary Gillies, Gordy Ditmanson, Ron and Liz Long (pictures), Tom Halfpenny and Mark Crichton for their contributions this month.• Jeff and Melissa Beebe Relocation: We have moved to Salt Lake City, UT. Our family car (36 Ford) remains in MN with our son. Could you send the newsletter to him? His name is Michael Beebe and his address is 6962 225th Ave., Stacy, MN 55079 (We will! ED)• December Meeting Charities: Please bring some new toys to the December meeting (and don’t forget teens), as Santa Kent is making a delivery soon afterward. Let’s also not forget those who are hungry. Bill Blood will make a donation to the Minnesota Food Shelf on behalf of TCRG. Checks are welcomed as they allow food purchases based on need (and checks are much lighter!) Thank you all for these meaningful gifts during this Christmas season!

I take my pen in hand to scratch out my last memo for the Rumble Sheet. In January, Bill Blood and Ron Christensen will take over the club leadership and I can take a break after three years as president. Going through the Rumble Sheets for the last three years I can see some accomplishments completed. We gave away some of the club’s treasury for scholarships, and helped with food for the food shelf. The club bought a much needed new trailer, out fitted by Bruce N. to hold all the club’s treasures in an orderly fashion. The old trailer now holds the club’s fence which worked quite well at the Stockyard Day’s New Brighton show. We also purchased a new canopy which is much lighter, easier to handle and put up than the old one. Best of all we have found a new meeting place. Thanks to Joel Bergstrom. Each club member needs to remember to put a $1.00 in the pot at the meeting to help cover the cost for the facility which in turn does not take funds from the club treasury. The one thing that hasn’t changed over the three years is recruiting workers for the World of Wheels. This is the easiest gig for the club to earn $1200 bucks with the least amount of energy required from the membership. Look for the signup sheet at the Banquet and step up for the good of the club. This year’s Banquet will again be held at Grumpy’s in Roseville on Sunday January 9th, 2011. Save the date –Details and signup in this issue. We attended the Western Meet in St. George, Utah in October. The theme for the meet was; Friends and Fords. Two long time friends, Ralph Hubbard and Scott Bringhurst started the planning for the meet. They stated that they wanted to bring people and cars together with their long time connections. The theme really touched a chord as we traveled and attended with long time friends, visited with; Texas friends, V-8 friends who attended Minnesota meets, and many long time Ford friends we have know for many years. As many of you may know, I try and com-plete a 5K (3.1 mile) fun run every month. I tell everyone that my training for these events --- is that I quit drinking for the seven days prior to the event. I want my body to be pure, and not have any foreign substances in it. I also try to really exercise prior to the event. In the summer months, I go for four mile bicycle rides every other day, and in the winter, I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Well, while

training for the Grey Ghost 5K in Anoka, I crashed on my bike. Now, I know that someone my age should know how to balance, and ride a bike, but I let gravity intervene. I

went down very similar to the guy on the tricycle in Laugh-In. I braced myself with my palms and smacked the pathway pretty good. I find now, that besides the purple spots on my body, that the doc-tor says that I have a non-separated fracture of my left elbow. The good news/bad news is that there is nothing that they can do for me. But thankfully, I am now able; once again, to move my left hand up to touch my face. (I am also glad that bike season is almost over.) Included in this issue, there are some items that members will need to respond to. Look for the Banquet and dues sheet, and also the annual ballot. Vote the ballot and mail in, and fill out the membership renewal form and banquet reservation form, include

in the V-8 Times also reminded us of the theme Friends and Fords. We have been blessed in our friendships through the V-8 club. Especially Twin Cities Regional Group friends, many we have had for more years than we care to disclose. Thanks to everyone for all the help and participation during this tenure.Dobie & Mary [email protected]

one check for payment. If not planning on attending the banquet, fill out only the mem-bership renewal area and send that in with check. And, I guess the car bug has hit some of our long time members this fall. Cliff Helling is now the proud owner of a 1941 Lincoln Continental Coupe. I asked him how many 34’s he had to sell to get this vehicle, and Cliff just laughed. Also, Bill Gillies has decreased his open garage space with the purchase of a 1948 Mercury Convertible. And in true seasonal spirit, Mary and I spent 26 hours and 27 minutes without power after the snow storm. It really is surprising how much you depend on electricity for entertainment these days. Of course, reading by candlelight is so easy on the eyes. Sure glad books still have pictures. Well, that’s enough for this time…….re-member, keep your stick on the ice. Have a great Christmas – and a pleasant New Years. Bruce

Henry wishes you and yours a wonderful Holi-day season. Just stay away from those evils alcohol and tobacco and you will be just fine. And oh, buy a new Ford if you get the chance!

WORLD OF WHEELSFebruary 25, 26, 27, 2011Saint Paul RiverCentre

175 W Kellogg Boulevard

It’s the 48th Annual World of Wheels in Saint Paul. We have again been asked to work this show. We will be taking tickets, checking the exhibitors, watching doors, and providing all night security. This is an opportunity to make a lot of money, for just a day’s work. We will need 14 people per 4 hour shift. You can work more than one shift if you like, just sign up one name per line. (shifts are 9:30 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 6 pm, and 6 pm to 10:30 pm) We will also need some nocturnal be-ings – people that can stay up all night long Fri-day night (10 pm – 8 am) into Saturday morn-ing and Saturday night into Sunday morning (10 pm – 7 am). Each volunteer will get a 3 day pass to the show (a $13 value); so that you are guaran-teed time to see it all. The swap meet is back again along with the antique toy show. Once again you can bring a small cool-er. We will try and make it so that you will be rotated around the arenas (both floors); so that you don’t spend all shift in one place. This is a great way to help the Club, and also think ‘cars’ in the middle of winter.

For more information, or to sign up contact Bruce Nelson (651-482-8940). Sign up sheet will be at the annual Banquet and Febru-ary Meeting. But beat the rush, and get that spot you want now !

Respectfully submitted, Gordy Ditmanson

Okay, sometimes you need a little filler during these lean months. One of the toughest decisions I had to make when I was Editor was picking the best pictures (unless it was a Ron el photo since his are always good!). I thought it might be nice to submit some “B photos” as a way to remember as great 2010 V-8 season. I tried to include something from each of our major events. Hope you enjoy them! MC
