HOW IT WORKS

AccessDatabase

(.mdb)

Excel

Visio

Local OLAP Cube (.cub)

Visual Reports works by first creating a local database (.mdb file) that contains data from your project.

From there a local cube is built (.cub file) and then hooked up to a PivotChart in Excel or a PivotDiagram in Visio.

HOW IT WORKS

Dimensions – data you slice by

• Task Name, Is Critical?, Months

Measures – data that is rolled up

• Work, actual cost

Properties – Additional information that is available about dimensions. This data is not rolled up.

• Dates, % Complete, text fields

The cubes are completely separate from the server cubes.

There are six different cubes to create reports off of – resource, task, and assignment in both summary and usage (time phased) flavors.

groupings by task

Baseline Work Report – column chart showing baseline work, schedule work, and actual work for each task

Budget Cost Report – chart showing groupings of budget cost, baseline cost, schedule cost, and actual costs over time

Budget Work Report – column chart showing baseline work, scheduled work, and actual work for each task

Cash Flow Report – task data in a bar graph with cost and cumulative cost amounts shown over time

Earned Value Over-Time Report – line chart that plots ACWP (actual cost), BCWS (planned value), BCWP (earned value) of task data over time

Resource Cost Summary Report – pie chart showing the distribution of resource costs by resource type assigned to tasks

Resource Remaining Work Report – column chart showing actual work and remaining work for each work resource by time

Resource Work Availability Report – column chart showing total capacity, work, and remaining availability for work resources over time

Visio Visual Reports: 6 ReportsBaseline Report – PivotDiagram compares “scheduled work and cost” to

“baseline work and cost” for each task

Cash Flow Report – PivotDiagram showing planned and actual costs over time broken down by resource type (work, material, cost)

Critical Task Status Report – PivotDiagram showing scheduled work and remaining work for critical and non-critical tasks

Resource Availability Report – PivotDiagram shows scheduled work and remaining availability for all project resources by resource type

Resource Status Report – PivotDiagram of the work and cost for each resource in the project
