„Inter University Accelerator Center‟ is an Autonomous institute under the Government of
India which allots machine time for university users. The machine time or beam time is to
irradiate samples of various types and study the damage created by such an experiment. The
allotment of beam time for various users is allotted by Annual User's Committee which
meets in the center. Various users from all over India justified their need for beam time
before the committee and the committee decides upon allotting the beam time depending on
the need and freshness of the proposal. Dr. Praveen D., Assistant Professor, Department of
Physics had defended his project proposal for beam time and student funding at the Inter
University Accelerator Center, New Delhi in December, 2013 by competing with more than
100 other users. The decision of the committee has now been announced and Dr. Praveen D.
has been granted a beam time of 3 shifts of 8 hours each for his project.

As a growing number of customers embrace online shopping many still prefer to visit a
physical store for purchases. But to avoid missing out on lucrative deals, Pipal Tech
Ventures Pvt. Ltd., a Bangalore-based startup company with offices in Delhi and the US,
aims to solve this problem with a location-based marketing and commerce platform focused
on India. The startup has launched „Delight Circle‟, a Smartphone and Tablet app which
does location-based marketing, in store marketing and consumer engagement application
that connects local retailers and brands with consumers. It helps make their shopping from
local retailers more convenient, delightful and rewarding. Mr. Ravi Teja, an IIT-Kharagpur
alumni, who is the Co-founder of „Delight Circle (Pipal Tech Ventures)‟ visited the school
and shared his experiences. On 25th February 2014, Amrita Centre for Entrepreneurship
organized a talk by this eminent entrepreneur. The session focused on his entrepreneurial
journey from being a student to establishing a successful business model and the challenges
associated with it. A quiz was also organized by the office bearers of ACE on business
current affairs.
The placement season is underway with many core companies also visiting the campus.
Two core companies GMMCO Ltd. and Titan selected two students from Mechanical

“Analysis of Flow Characteristics of the Blood Flowing through an Inclined Tapered
Porous Artery with Mild Stenosis under the Influence of an Inclined Magnetic Field” -
Neetu Srivastava; Journal of Biophysics, Hindawi Publishing Corporation, New York,
USA, February, 2014.
Analytical investigation of MHD blood flow in a porous inclined stenotic artery under the influence of the inclined magnetic field has been done. Blood is considered as an electrically conducting Newtonian fluid. The physics of the problem is described by the usual MHD equations along with appropriate boundary conditions. The flow governing equations are finally transformed to non-homogeneous second-order ordinary differential equations. This model is consistent with the principles of magnetohydrodynamics. Analytical expressions for the velocity profile, volumetric flow rate, wall shear stress, and pressure gradient have been derived. Blood flow characteristics are computed for a specific set of values of the different parameters involved in the model analysis and are presented graphically. Some of the obtained results show that the flow patterns in converging region ( < 0), diverging region ( > 0), and non tapered region ( = 0) are effectively influenced by the presence of magnetic field and change in inclination of artery as well as magnetic field. There is also a significant effect of permeability on the wall shear stress as well as volumetric flow rate.
