V-Ray Stereoscopic Camera Demonstration OVERVIEW
This document takes you through the process of setting up stereoscopic rendering with V-Ray.
PROCEDURE
1. Open the scene VRayStereoscopicCam_Start.mb make sure all assets are present.
2. Make sure you are at frame 88 of the animation.
3. Render the scene and note the result.
4. In the Outliner select the StereoCam camera.
5. Make sure you have selected the Shape node and add the Stereoscopic camera V-Ray Extra Attributes.
6. Scroll down, examine the Stereoscopic camera settings and enable the Treat as VRay Stereoscopic camera
checkbox.
7. Render an image and note that both camera views were rendered at half width to fit in the original resolution.
8. Enable the Adjust Resolution checkbox and render again
9. Preview the image in stereoscopic mode by clicking the stereoscopic view button in the VFB.
10. Set the Focus Method parameter to Rotation and render again. The result is physically accurate for the current
scene scale, camera position, zoom and focus distance.
11. To make the stereoscopic effect stronger or weaker, try different values for the Eye Distance parameter.
12. Set Eye Distance to a value between 6.2 and 6.8 such as 6.500.
13. To render the final image at a higher quality, open the Render Settings window, and in the VRay tab adjust the
Max. render time (min) parameter.
