Product Registration Number: PCS05322
Active Ingredient: 500 g/litre propyzamide + 5.3 g/litre aminopyralid
Pack Size: 10.0 Litres
Formulation: Suspension Concentrate
Maximum Individual Dose: Common use rate of 1.5 L/ha (1.7 L/ha – the blackgrass rate)
Maximum Total Dose: One per crop
Latest Timing: Before 1st Feb in the year of harvest
Water Volumes: 200 – 300 L/ha
Spray Quality: MEDIUM as defined by the BCPC
Best Use Advice
Apply from 1st October when the crop has 3 true leaves
May be applied at 1.0 L/ha or 1.5 L/ha to suit weed size and spectrum (see table below) – Only use 1.0 L/ha rate where a specific graminicide has controlled volunteer cereals and chickweed is not a problem
ASTROKerb is best applied when soil temperatures at 10 cm reach 10C and are falling and where there is sufficient moisture in the soil surface layer for plant uptake
ASTROKerb can be applied in frosty conditions but run-off should be avoided
ASTROKerb should not be used on soils containing >10% organic matter
DO NOT remove oilseed rape straw from the field unless it is to be used for burning for heat or electricity production
Best results will be achieved on OSR crops established via non-inversion cultivations – Propyzamide is most active on weeds germinating in the upper 5 cm of the soil profile
Use ASTROKerb where intended following crops are winter or spring cereals only
KEY BENEFITS
Superb grassweed control including ryegrass, sterile brome, wild oats, volunteer cereals and annual meadowgrass
Enhanced performance on key broad-leaved weeds including mayweed and poppy
Ideal for use on oilseed rape crops ahead of winter or spring cereals

Best Use Advice
For use only in established grassland >12 months old
For best results apply when docks are actively growing and at the optimum growth stage:
Apply at 2.0 L/ha for the control of broadleaved docks and curled docks in addition to a wide range of annual and perennial weeds- Use higher recommended water volumes where weeds are large or where grass cover is dense
DoxstarPro can be applied in a programme of 1.0 L/ha in the spring followed by a second application of 1.0 L/ha in the autumn forthe control of docks
DoxstarPro can be applied via a spray-boom mounted on Quad bike- 250 ml in 50 L water will cover an area of 1,250 m2
If weeds grow beyond ideal stage, consider cutting the sward and spraying the re-growth- Allow 2-3 weeks after cutting before applications of DoxstarPro are made to allow sufficient re-growth
DO NOT mix with phenoxy-herbicides this may compromise translocation of DoxstarPro to the roots
Grazing can resume 7 days after application. This may need to be longer if foliage of poisonous weeds is present
Allow an interval of minimum 21 days, ideally 28 days before cutting

Best Use Advice for Oilseed Rape
Weed Spectrum at 0.35 L/ha
Product Registration Number: PSC05188
Active Ingredient: 267 g/litre clopyralid and 67 g/litre picloram
Pack Size: 1.0 Litre
Formulation: Solution Concentrate
Maximum Individual Dose: 0.35 L/ha
Maximum Total Dose: 0.35 L/ha
Latest Timing: Before flower buds visible above the canopy
Water Volumes: 200 L/ha
Spray Quality: MEDIUM as defined by BCPC
Applications of Galera can be made from the 4 leaf stage of the crop
Applications can only be made after 1st March in the year of harvest
Treatment should be made prior to crop canopy closure and before flower buds are visible above the crop canopy – Applications made beyond this timing can cause twisting and distortion and ultimately could have an adverse impact on pod
and seed set
– This latest application timing is associated with the physiological development stage of the crop as opposed to leaf protection around the developing bud. As such, applications of Galera in crops that have succumbed to heavy slug damage/pigeon grazing should still follow this guideline
Best practice for cleavers control:
– Use Galera at the full rate of 0.35 L/ha to achieve up to 80% cleavers control – Best results will be achieved where treatments are made in conditions which are warm both before and after application to
encourage and maintain active weed growth
– Cleavers should be less than 150 mm
Use the full rate of 0.35 L/ha against winter-hardened mayweeds
Requires 6 hours to become rainfast so ensure applications are made in stable weather conditions and aim to make applications during the warmest part of the day
Following crop advice- Crops that can be sown after a crop that has been treated with Galera:
– 120 days after application- Wheat (winter or spring), Barley (winter or spring), Oats (winter or spring), Oilseed Rape (winter or
spring), Maize – 36 months after application- Any other crop can be planted. Plough or thoroughly cultivate before planting Peas or Beans

Can be applied at 1.25 L/ha, 1.75 L/ha or 2.1 L/ha to suit weed size and spectrum (see table below) Use only the 1.25 L/ha rate when a specific graminicide has controlled volunteer cereals and chickweed is not a problem
- Use of Kerb Flo in a rotational programme is very useful for controlling grassweeds such as sterile brome and ryegrass
Apply from 1st October when the crop has 3 true leaves
Kerb Flo is best applied when soil temperatures at 10 cm reach 10C and are falling and where there is sufficient moisture in the soil surface layer for plant uptake
Do not make more than one application of Kerb Flo within 9 months to the same area of land
Kerb Flo should not be used on soils containing >10% organic matter - To avoid run-off, applications should be made to a firm clod-free seedbed

Mite and insect infestation in Irish stored grain causes annual losses of 5 -10%
Presence of mites can give rise to opportunistic mould infestation as a result of increased heat
Reldan 22 will control all major mite and insect pests of stored grain including:
– Copra mite, Common flour mite*, Cosmopolitan food mite, Saw-toothed grain beetle*, Rust-red grain beetle, Foreign grain beetle, Rust-red flour beetle*, Confused flour beetle, Merchant grain beetle, Indian meal moth, Warehouse moth, Mediterranean flour moth, Grain weevil, Rice weevil
– * OP resistant strains exist
Reldan 22 is the ONLY grain store fabric treatment to control mites
Works by contact, ingestion and fumigant activity
A single pre-harvest grain store application offers 6 months protection
Accepted by the BBPA and BRI for use on grain intended for malting and brewing
Can be used to treat stores destined for wheat, barley, oats, rye and triticale
Apply 200 ml of Reldan 22 in 5.0 L water to treat an area of 100 m2
– If surfaces are porous, increase the water volume to 10.0 L per 100 m2
Applications can be made using a knapsack sprayer or tractor operated spray lance
Use only one application
Applications should be made to a clean store/clean equipment – no debris and certainly no grain should be present
Treat all surfaces including crevices and joints, and grain handling equipment
Ideally, apply 1 month before grain filling begins
Reldan treatments will persist for 6 months offering long-term storage peace of mind
Can be used to treat wheat, barley, oats, rye and triticale
For immediate eradication of grain store pests, use at 10 ml in 0.75 to 1.5 L water per tonne of grain – No withholding period at this rate
For long term storage protection use at 20 ml in 0.75 to 1.5 L water per tonne of grain. After treatment grain should not be processed for 90 days.
Treated grain should not be used for seed
Applications should be made via a suitable insecticide applicator to grain that has been dried (or is below 14% moisture), cooled and cleaned
Application rates are based on grain conveyer throughput: – < 5 tonnes per hour apply 20 ml Reldan 22 in 1.5 L water per tonne of grain – > 5 tonnes per hour apply 20 ml Reldan 22 in 0.75 L water per tonne of grain
The spray solution should be constantly agitated until application is complete

Mite and insect infestation in Irish stored grain causes annual losses of 5 -10%.
Mite and insect feeding results in direct yield losses but can also have a detrimental effect on the quality of stored grain. Grain store pests can affect the nutritional value and act as a source of allergens which can lead to serious gastric problems in feeding animals. Whether intended for milling, malting or feed, infested grain runs the risk of being rejected.
Reldan 22 is a broad spectrum acaricide and insecticide that will control all major pests of stored grain including Acarus, Lepidoglyphus and Tyrophagus, the three main mite species found in grain stores.
Reldan 22 is the only pre-harvest grain store treatment effective on these common pests. It also controls many other common beetle and moth pests of grain.
Reldan 22 is the ONLY grain store fabric treatment to control mites

Volunteer Control Weed Chart
With the increased amount of winter and spring beans drilled for last harvest, volunteer beans may be a greater problem this autumn in winter wheat and winter barley. Not only will these compete with the crop for yield, but also shade weeds from herbicides, act as a reservoir for pests and disease, and potentially cause quality issues at harvest.

Volunteer Bean Control with Spitfire
Not only are volunteer beans competitive with the crop, their presence in cereals can also cause problems for
contact graminicides as large leafy bean volunteers can shade grassweeds and reduce control. Revocation of
existing products means new solutions such as Spitfire are needed for this weed. Autumn is the best time to
control volunteer beans. For volunteer bean control with Spitfire:
● Use 0.5 L/ha + adjuvantϕ – up to 4 etl ● Use 0.75 L/ha – up to 4 etl ● Use 0.75 L/ha + adjuvant – up to 6 etl
ϕSupported adjuvants: Phase II and Torpedo
Additional weeds controlled at 0.5 L/ha include charlock, chickweed, cleavers, mayweeds, shepherd’s purse,
volunteer oilseed rape and wild radish.

Control Strategy

Update
Achieving a good level of control of brome populations requires utilising a fully-inclusive control strategy. Depending on the species of brome present, the method to achieve the best control will vary. The considerations to be made are outlined in this topic sheet. Tailor your programme towards the most prominent of the grassweeds present. When choosing a herbicide, select a product that is known for its high levels of control for a wide range of grassweeds- such as Broadway Star, the leading product for ryegrass, brome, oats and broad-leaved weeds. Dow AgroSciences has spent the past 4 years looking into maximising grassweed control on farm at a cross-rotational trial in Warwickshire. Key learnings from this trial are explained below to help you consider the best on-farm methods to minimise the grassweed burden, and maximise the control achieved using a fully inclusive herbicide programme.
Rotation (All grassweed populations)
Having a varied rotation on farm is not only good agricultural practice, but also can
reduce the grassweed burden. Break crops, such as oilseed rape, provide a good
opportunity to use chemistry with alternative modes of action, thus reducing the risk
of resistance build up. Spring cropping also provides the chance to make use of a
stale seedbed approach.
Where Ryegrass is the target grassweed
Ryegrass control is becoming more of a concern for Irish and UK farmers, with some field populations unable to be controlled
with herbicides alone. For this reason, cultural control of ryegrass is now an important consideration.
The use of stale seedbeds via light cultivation will reduce the population. Italian ryegrass has little innate dormancy, typically
germinating within 2-3 weeks once moisture is present. Ploughing is also an effective method of control; ensure a complete
inversion of the soil. Ploughing will increase the risk of bringing up the seed that was buried the previous year, but when
dealing with high populations of ryegrass, this will have little effect on the population level and therefore is still the best
cultural control method available.
Stubble Cultivations
Stubble cultivation post-harvest is important for making the most of any glyphosate applications, to promote a stale seedbed. The two types of brome require a different approach post-harvest for best results. If you have a mixed population of brome, you should identify the predominant species, and work your control programme to maximise the control of that target species. Meadow, Rye and Soft Brome (Bromus species): With Bromus populations, the seed is often under-ripe when combining. For this reason, burial immediately after harvest induces dormancy, and therefore increases seed survival in the soil. The best practice is to let the seed ripen on the soil surface for a minimum of a month. Then encourage the seed to chit with a shallow cultivation, before spraying off with glyphosate. This should provide an effective stale seedbed. Sterile and Great Brome (Anisantha species): With Anisantha populations, exposure to light after harvest induces seed dormancy. If there is not a good cover of chopped straw covering seeds on the soil surface, shallow cultivate as soon as possible after harvest, to reduce light exposure, and encourage the seed to chit before the application of glyphosate.
Cultivation Type (All grassweed populations)
The primary cultivation used will have an impact on the grassweed burden. In the 4
year cross-rotational trial, we have found that ploughing before cereal crops
consistently provided the highest level of grassweed control, when compared with
shallow cultivation practices. In order to see the benefits of ploughing, it is essential
that care is taken to ensure the land is ploughed well, with a complete inversion of
the soil. Shallow cultivations before oilseed rape enable you to make the most out
the opportunity for Kerb Flo 400.

Top tips to for better application technique
WATER VOLUMES
Adhere to current label recommendations.
Reducing water volumes below those advocated can compromise root kill, risking re-growth the following season.
Development work is being carried out to test whether water volumes can be reduced, and nozzle recommendations optimised whilst maintaining efficacy.
A product can be applied at a lower water volume than advised on the label, provided the concentration of the product in the spray tank does not exceed the maximum concentration allowed on the product label. (However please note this may reduce efficacy).
For example, if the product label states a maximum product use rate of 1.0 L/ha in a minimum water volume of 200 L/ha, it is also perfectly acceptable to apply 0.5 L/ha of that product in 100 L/ha – in both cases the concentration of the product in water is 0.5%.

BOOM HEIGHT
Docks and thistles can be taller
than grass and stick out above
the crop.
Assuming standard 110 degree
fans and 0.5 m spacing, the
boom should be carried 30 cm
above the weeds.
This ensures the top of the weed
is hit, while achieving good
coverage of the lower leaves.
PRESSURE
Fan jets are widely used when
spraying grassland.
Use a pressure of 2 bar rather
than 3 bar, as this significantly
reduces drift.
There will be bigger droplets
but this will not affect efficacy.
BOUT MARKING
Bout marking is important for good application practice, but is often
overlooked on smaller farms that cannot stretch to highly accurate, but
expensive, RTK systems.
A 10% overlap wastes chemical and leads to double dosing.
One option is to knock in coloured fence-posts around the headlands at
the correct bout widths.
Otherwise, light bars are relatively cheap and accurate to within 30 cm
when used by a good operator.
LEAF WETNESS
Provided water is not running off
the leaf, applying spray does not
trigger run-off, and chemical will
be absorbed as the leaf dries.
All the above herbicide products
are rainfast in 2 hours, with the
exception of Forefront T which is
rainfast in 1 hour.
CONDITIONERS
When using a water conditioner,
add the conditioner first before the
product goes in, then add the
product near the end of filling to
retain optimum efficacy.

Frequently asked questions – end users of Grassland Herbicides
Legislation
Under the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations, as from 26th November 2015, all sprayer
operators applying professional pesticide products (PPPs) in Ireland need to be registered as professional
users with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
See http://www.pcs.agriculture.gov.ie/sud/professionaluserssprayeroperators/ for further information.
Options if you don’t take the qualifications:
You could hand over the spraying to perhaps a family member or employee who has got the correct
qualifications.
Or you could use a qualified spray contractor.
Does the legislation affect livestock farmers or small holders who only occasionally use pesticides?
The legislation applies to all users of professional pesticides
Do I need to be registered as a Professional User to purchase professional pesticide products after 26th
November 2015?
No, you do not need to be registered to purchase professional pesticide products, but if you are going to
be applying the products yourself, then you will need to hold suitable qualifications.
If you are buying them for someone else to apply, then you need to ensure that the intended sprayer
operator is suitably qualified. There is a requirement to keep appropriate records with details of the
registered professional user who applied the pesticides.
Do I need to be qualified to spray GrazonPro® using a knapsack on my own farm?
Yes, after 26th November 2015, you will need to be a registered professional user to apply GrazonPro.
Do I need to be qualified to spray DoxstarPro®, PastorPro®, Thistlex® or Forefront T®?
Yes, these are all professional use products, and after 26th November 2015 will need to be applied by an
operator who has suitable qualifications.
Who runs training courses for users of professional pesticides?
Details of training courses can be found here:
http://www.pcs.agriculture.gov.ie/sud/professionaluserssprayeroperators/training/
I already have completed a qualification that was awarded by Teagasc, will it be suitable?

Storage and supply of pesticides
Inspection of application equipment
What training do I need to undertake to become a Professional User?
Anyone who stores pesticides of any quantity must store them in such a way as to prevent unwanted
releases. For small volumes of PPPs a chemsafe is a good way to do this.
From 26th November 2015, distributors who sell to end users must have a registered pesticide distributor
available at all times at the point of sale to ensure that adequate information is provided to customers as
regards pesticide use and health and environmental risk and safety.
All boom sprayers greater that 3m and all blast and orchard sprayers must be tested at least once by 26th
November 2016. Equipment must then be inspected every 5 years until 2020, and every 3 years thereafter.
A list of registered Inspectors of Pesticide Application Equipment is available on the PCS website
http://www.pcs.agriculture.gov.ie/sud/equipmentinspectors/
The DAFM, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, will determine appropriate timetables and inspection
intervals for other types of pesticide application equipment (e.g. boom sprayers less than 3m, weed wipers
etc.) in due course. It is anticipated that all types of application equipment, with the exception of knapsack
sprayers, will be required to be tested at least once before 2020.
Professional users should regularly calibrate and check their pesticide application equipment.
In order to register as a professional user, you are required to have formal training in the safe use and
application of pesticides. Experience alone does not qualify an individual to register.
The following is a list of qualifications which are recognised by DAFM as being appropriate training for the
purposes of registration:
