LAVA STONE FROM VOLVIC

Extracted from the heart of the Nugere volcanic crater, this consistent and dense stone has exceptional qualities created in nature.

After glazing & surface treatment the surface becomes absolutely water-proof & is resistant to detergents & acids alike.

Fired at more than 1000ºC, lava stone worktops are resistant to very high temperatures. No other material - available in a range of colors - can offer such quality.

Design and authenticityLava stone is perfect for daring designs for kitchen worktops or bathroom vanity tops: custom-made shapes, recessed fitting, straight or curved lines, thickness from 20 to 80mm. Due to its purity, only the Volvic lava stone can offer lengths up to 3 meters long without joints.

All of these points - not regarded as faults - are a result of glazing natural volcanic lava stone [surface & texture differ from piece to piece] collectively creates the unique appearance of all V58 Lava Stone products.

PROPERTIES / TECHNICAL INFORMATION

The expertise of the V58 engineers allow them to select enamels not just for their beauty but for their resistance & resilience after being fired at more than 1000ºC.

Fine cracks appear on the surface during cooling called ‘tressaille’ [crazing]. Being more or less prominent - depending on color, these fine lines are the signature of the glazed lava stone.

V58’s edge profiles are created by an inseparable union between man & machine. The profile is cut by CNC to ensure accurate consistency but then finished by hand to achieve all the delicate characteristics. During the firing cycle the enamels become semi-liquid & pour gently over the radiused edge revealing an attractive darker finishing line. On certain profiles [BE15 & BE20] the enamel can thin out leaving natural stone showing or lighter high-lights where-as the bigger the stone radius the more consistent the coverage.

Its simple design allows you to cut lightly, scoop and dispose of the waste straight into the disposal unit all contained in one place, before rinsing the food for serving. The unit can be used as a stand-along top or be integrated into the work surfaces. Each sink is cut from a 100mm thick block of lavastone before being finished in any of our sumptuous enamels.

An eloquent infinity pool on the roof terrace at Soho House Berlin continues the understated luxury of this prestigious building.Lavastone tiles in a deep rich color of Emeraude is the surfacing material for both the interior and exterior of the pool.

An eloquent infinity pool on the roof terrace at Soho House Berlin continues the understated luxury of this prestigious building.Pyrolave provided 140sqm of tiles in a mixture of regular and bespoke sizes to simplify installation.The rich deep colour of Emeraude was the designers choice which subtly blends into the Berlin sky-line beyond.We surveyed the site and produced a full set of production drawings copied to the tiling contractor for setting out and a successful project was completed within 8 weeks.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Never use anything abrasive upon the surface [ie; scrapers, wire wool, commercial scourers] - always use a soft cloth or sponge. The principal is to use very strong cleaning fluids with a soft cloth.We recommend the use of HG HAGASAN products for cleaning glazed lava.
