PAYMENT: Terms of the sale are cash, check, or bank wire due Sept. 18 and before animals leave V8. After Oct. 8, 2015, unpaid are billed 18% APR.

FEEDING TERMS: Cattle will be provided free care until Oct. 8, 2015, after which feed is billed at $5/head/day in the pasture or $15/day in the show barn. V8 employs some of the best stockmen in the business and spares no expenses in the professional way we care for your cattle. These charges are not designed for us to make money, but rather to cover our costs. Any veterinary expense will be the owners obligation. All accounts will be billed monthly. Feed charges must be paid in full when the cattle are picked up.

BREEDING GUARANTEE: Cows selling with calf at side or pregnant are assumed to be breeders. No further guarantee is offered. Heifers are guaranteed to be natural breeders with the exception of injury or disease to the animal after it leaves V8; gross negligence or misconduct; heifers flushed or IVF’d prior to having a natural calf, or heifers exhibited at one or more livestock shows. Buyers must notify us of any fertility concerns by Oct. 8, 2016, at which time V8 will have 6 months from the date animal is returned to prove the animal to be a breeder. Dear Friends, I love my granddad’s old stories - which usually involve cow deals or rodeos. One of my favorites is how Howard Parker, founder of V8 Ranch, got in the Brahman business. In 1944, Parker wanted to start a ranch. But he wasn’t a cowman; he was a car dealer. He went to Marshall Johnson and asked him to separate the cows and calves. Parker picked out the 40 biggest, fattest calves. When Johnson let the cows back in, Parker bought whatever cows were the mothers of those 40 calves. So, it’s safe to say the V8 herd has been focused on production since day one. As my dad says, “Some people linebreed to a bull, we do it to cows. Even on our bulls…we think what makes them great is the cow family behind them.” Today, the majority of our herd can be traced to 9 core cow families, with 5 of the 9 going back to Parker’s original purchases in 1944.

This is an exciting time for the Brahman breed. At V8, we are very thankful for the high demand for our females. We sell our heifers at weaning, and sincerely appreciate those who have bought heifers from us in the past. However, a lot of people were asking to buy a V8 bred cow or donor. So, we began selecting a few of females and rare semen each year for this special sale to showcase our herd and the passion for producing quality Brahman cattle.

Our goal is customer satisfaction and building relationships that last a lifetime. It’s a great time to be in the cattle business, but it’s more important to us to have great times with the PEOPLE in the cattle business. Since we started this sale, it’s been a true honor to watch the success of our buyers and see how they’ve used V8 bloodlines in their herds.

Each year, breeders ask us for the opportunity to buy one of our top donors, and here she is. She averages between 8 to 10 good eggs per flush, and we will have ET pregnancies coming out of her in 2016. A proven donor from V8 Ranch that represents the +Miss V8 4/5 cow family, one of the staples of V8 success. This female is extremely feminine, larger framed, easy fleshing, deep bodied powerhouse, which breeders have come to expect from V8 females. Her pedigree is remarkable, being a direct daughter of the former International Grand Champion Bull, +JDH Karu Manso 800, known for his quality females. A really long bodied, extremely level topped female with an outcross pedigree who is also a former donor for the ranch. In relation to her frame size, she is one of the biggest ribbed cows on the ranch and also one of the best uddered cows in the herd. These are two traits that we feel are extremely important to success in producing high quality females that not only look good, but have the production power to back them up. This female’s sire is from the very successful Richard Sturlese herd from Louisiana and features V8 702/3 (the sire of Powerstroke) and JDH Copano breeding – sire lines known for their females. Another up-and-coming young female that represents one of the extremely rare opportunities to buy a bred cow from the ranch other than in this annual sale. She is bred for her second calf, and her first calf was a show heifer for a Texas junior. 617/7 is very balanced, feminine and eye appealing with a lot of body capacity put together in a moderate frame. Her pedigree is also a unique one in the fact that she is a direct daughter of Mr. V8 815/5 “Tommy Bahama” which is rare and hard to find in itself due to the limited availability of his semen for AI. A moderate framed, really gentle heavy-bred 4-year-old cow ready to begin the prime of her production. Each year we strive to offer something from our polled program, and this year’s feature is a scurred female coming out of our show barn. She stems from three generations of smooth polled females on the bottom side. Sloan Williams’ F-1 herd is without a doubt one of the highest quality Brahman x Hereford F1 herds in existence. It is a closed herd from which he rarely, if ever sells. We often joke around here that it would be easier to buy the best registered Brahman female on the ranch than it would be to try to buy one of Sloan’s F1 heifers. With the addition of the new F-1 heifer show at the All American, last year we sold one heifer, which was purchased by Savannah Allen. Because of that purchase, we also allowed the Allen’s to purchase a second F-1 heifer from us. Both were extremely successful in F-1 shows. -BIDDING INCREMENTS-In the sale, the bid price is per unit and the final purchase price will be your bid times the number of units selling.

-OPTION TO DOUBLE-On some lots, depending on the semen availability, the buyer has the option to double the price and purchase 10 units. This

Many of our international friends who visit the ranch have been extremely impressed with 243/7 and like him for his tremendous muscle and versatility in breeding red or grey. His pedigree represents one of the best crosses at V8 - 380 x Liberty. He is a full brother to Miss V8 626/7, the 2014 National Grand Champion Grey Female and Miss V8 844/7 - the 2015 Houston Grand Champion Grey Female. This is a very thick, heavy muscled bull that we have been using heavily here at V8 and offers a lot of opportunities for red or grey breeders.

His sire is the outcross bull Mr. V8 354/6 who was shown by John Michael Moss and later sold as a herd bull for Windy Hill Ranch. After seeing the calves at Windy Hill we used 354 in our AI program and found the calves to be heavy muscled, good natured, and performance oriented. Mr. V8 274/7 was Reserve Grand Champion at the 2013 Kickoff Classic and was a consistent show ring champion and contender throughout his show career.

PROXY BIDDING - This is a way DV can bid for you if you can’t be at your computer. You type in your maximum bid. If someone jumps your bid, the DV system will automatically bid for you until you reach your maximum bid. If you are bidding on a lot and immediately the DV system comes back that you must bid higher, this is a good indication that someone else has placed a proxy bid on that lot. However, if no one else bids, the system does not bid for you (meaning there’s no way you can get “run”). For example, after our first sale, a buyers told us he had placed a proxy bid for $15,000 on a heifer then left for a football game. When the auction closed, he got the heifer for $6000, because no one else bid.
